Remote Control Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Box

UPDATE: We've been made aware that this subscription is very difficult to cancel even if you call in/email, so I can't recommend signing up for this box.

RC Subscription Box is a new monthly subscription box from HobbyTron that sends you a new Remote Controlled Helicopter, Car, Truck etc. each month.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Remote Control Subscription Box

The Cost: $29.95 (less with 6 or 12 month plans)

BONUS: If you sign up for the monthly plan you’ll get a bonus Phantom RC Helicopter with your first shipment (You must have a subscription for 3 months to keep this bonus).

(FYI – regular HobbyTron coupons don’t work on subscriptions).

The Products: $60 worth of remote control items each month. (Helicopters, trucks, cars etc).

Remote Control Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Car

Drift GT Car - Retail Value $80 (On Sale at Gilt for $44)

Up until now we've only received copter RCs with this subscription, so I'm happy to finally see a car! (This will make a great holiday gift)

Verdict: I'm not sure if we'll continue our subscription now that we've done three months. I think it's a fun subscription for a short timeframe, but for a year or more you definitely need to be a big RC fan because you will get multiple RCs from the same category.

What do you think of RC Subscription Box ?

It seems to be a cool subscription package. Thanks for sharing this useful information.

Glad I checked around before getting this subscription. After seeing how much problems folks are having, I think I’ll steer clear. Thanks for the reviews.

Hi Abbey – We finally got it cancelled using their live chat on their website (3 months later). Took two hours & a lot of back & forth but eventually worked. I was threatening legal action, because my next step was contacting my bank fraud dept., but they didn’t really seem phased by that. I seriously hope no one else is signing up for this horrid subscription anymore. Hope this helps.

I know this is an old post, but I am hoping someone can help. How were you able to cancel, if at all? I can’t get ahold of anyone on the phone and have sent three emails- all unanswered. My next step will be contacting the BBB and my credit card company. So frustrating.

Update for those considering this subscription: I’ve had so much trouble cancelling this. They continue to charge me 3 months after I requested cancellation and they won’t respond to messages. I would stay away from this company unless you know for 100% you want the sub to be permanent! 🙂

STAY AWAY! I have had to get fraud dept in my USAA checking account and replace my debit card. What’s even more frustrating is that I did manage to cancel my sub back in September, then December 28 I get a random charge from them and nothing sent to me! After disputing the charge I received my money back only to be charged again the next month.

Their website will not approve a negative review, no matter how sensitive you word the review.

They have an * at the bottom of the page explaining the 3 mos requirement, cancel early and they charge you for the free helicopter you got with first shipment. However, there is NO ASTERISK up by the agreement that you are accepting. The entire purpose of an asterisk is to inform you there are additional details involved but they simply don’t want you to know.

Lets talk about the free heli you get on the first shipment. They say it’s worth $80, but you can buy it for less than $40 on their website, then to top it off, if you cancel early they charge you well over $110 for it!

This company is ethically void of any substance. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE.

Thanks for letting us know – I’ll update the review to warn potential subscribers.

I was wondering the same thing. I do not see the review portion of this post. I am happy to see a car this month. I feel like I have only seen you review helicopters.

Did part of your review not load? It just seems to be missing all the stuff you normally put in there…

Oh thanks for letting me know! Not sure what happened. Hopefully my finished draft is saved in wordpress.

Note for those thinking about trying this. While you can technically cancel anytime, you have to keep the sub active at least 3 months or you have to pay back the retail value of the “bonus” Phantom helicopter.
