bestowed-oct-peeled

Hooray Puree Spinach - Value $5

Peeled Snacks Apple Clusters in Cinnamon Crunch - Value $5.49

I've tried the Hooray Puree in Butternut Squash before, and it's a great way to add extra organic vegetables to soups and sauces. And these peeled apple clusters were way too good - the cinnamon made them very reminiscent of apple pie!

bestowed-oct-numi

Numi Organic Tea in Chocolate Mint (2 tea bags) - Value $1

I'm a big tea drinker, so I think I'm one of the few people who love getting tea in subscription boxes! I like the Numi Organic brand, and this chocolate mint flavor sounds delicious!

bestowed-oct-gum

Fiber Love Bars in Cinnamon Raisin and Peanut Chocolate Chip (Sample Sizes) - Value $1

Glee Gum in Wild Watermellon and Refresh-Mint (2 pieces each) - Value $.25?

This Glee Gum lost its flavor in minutes, but it was good while it lasted!

bestowed-oct-crackers

Little Miracles Organic Energy Drink - Value $2.50

Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers - Value $1

This drink was too sweet for me (it has 21 grams of sugar), but at least these gluten-free crackers are always a hit with me and my husband.

Verdict: This month's box has a value of about $16-17. That's not exactly the $20 a month cost, but it is an improvement over September's box. As always, I enjoy the healthy curation of this box - I just wish the value was a few dollars higher.

What do you think of the October Bestowed box?

I was a Klutchclub member who’s membership got rolled over to Bestowed. I’ve not been happy since. I get an $18 a month (sub thanks to MSA a year or so ago), but I do not think it is a good value for the price… AT ALL. I’ve been trying to cancel my BESTOWED membership now for over a month. There is no apparent log-in area for members on the Bestowed.com site. You only get voicemail when calling, and no emails have been returned regarding the canceling. I think it all pretty shady !! I belong to 8 other subscription boxes and have never experienced anything like Bestowed. So, other members beware !! AND if anyone has any helpful suggestions for how to cancel my Bestowed membership please let me know . Best !

I just finished reading this review and was heading towards the comments and I thought to myself ” I bet Sneaky Burrito has commented” and you have 🙂 .. we sub to a lot of the same boxes and I always enjoy reading your thoughts! I agree the curation is getting better, and the entire Idea of this box makes me happy but the value is a little on the low side. I bought a 6 month deal from guilt city and I will probably cancel when its over. $20 is a pricy gamble when your not sure if your going to get your monies worth every month. I do like this box though, I have found a few items that my 2yr old just loves. But i can’t seem to find them in a store. Mr Fungleys crackers, and the funky monkey fruit snacks. My Li’ girl devoured them, now i have to buy more!!

Sneaky burrito do you think you can share your smoothie recipe with me ? sunrosez at hotmail 🙂

thank you for the review Liz!

Sneaky Burrito

I didn’t calculate the value but I did have the feeling when I opened it that it would be lower than $20. I only paid a little over $11 so that’s OK.

I haven’t tried most of the items yet, though. I’ve had those Peeled clusters in other flavors — oddest thing, but they can’t get the right weight of snacks into the package sometimes. One package I got in another box had 1/2 the amount listed on the package, and the other had 1.5 times the amount. (I actually weighed them on my kitchen scale because I could tell they were different.) Makes me worry a little about their quality control.

I put the spinach in my smoothies. I had forgotten to buy any fresh spinach this week so that came at a good time. A little pricy, but there won’t be any bad leaves, I guess — I’ve had a run of bad luck at the supermarket with spinach that turned out to be bad. (Haven’t tried the smoothies yet; I make up a big batch and freeze individual portions, then let them thaw in my lunch box.)

I got chocolate Earl Grey tea instead. I have not been a fan of Earl Grey in the past, but chocolate may help it, and I like to try it every few years to see if I’ve changed my mind (hey, it could happen).

I haven’t tried my drink yet (mine is a different flavor) but I have this feeling I will also find it too sweet. I don’t really like to drink sugary things.

In the end, I think it’s a good mix of items, and there are no fish oil cookies this month (I was told they tasted fine but I’m vegetarian so fish oil is a no-go). I agree that I wish the value was a little better or at least that some of the sample sizes were larger. I have three more months left but I’m canceling at the end of that time. I got a good price on my subscription but I wouldn’t want to pay $20 a month.
