Untoxicating Beauty Box Subscription Review – August 2014 Box

Untoxicating Beauty is an eco-friendly beauty subscription box. Unlike other boxes that send a variety of brands each month, Untoxicating Beauty sends out several products from one eco-friendly brand each month. It’s a little riskier if you don’t like the brand, but if you do – it can be a great value, and a great way to discover new brands!

Just a heads up - Untoxicating Beauty has been a little behind on shipping boxes. This August box arrived today. (They did email though to let subscribers know about the shipping issues).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Untoxicating Beauty Box Subscription Review – August 2014 Shampoo

Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic Conditioner - Value $26

Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic Shampoo - Value $24

These are giant bottles - which is great! On one hand I would have liked to try more hair products from this line, but it is pretty refreshing to get giant bottles of shampoo and conditioner when you're used to getting tons of 1 oz samples from subscription boxes! And of course I love that the line is gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, etc.

Verdict: I paid $35 for this box and received $50 worth of product. I'm happy with the value since I will use every ounce of these products, and I like trying out pricey new natural brands at a discount! What do you think of the August Untoxicating Beauty Box?

I cancelled. I was too bummed about them being behind on shipping TWICE. I doubt I’ll get September. This is too expensive to qibble with. 🙁 I had just high hopes for them as well.

$35 plus shipping for a bottle of shampoo and conditioner? I’m such a cheapskate, I use coupons and buy whatever is free at the grocery store.

Every month I post that I like this box. I need to go through my boxes and figure out how to squeeze this box in the budget. I would love to try this box. I have to use sulfate-free shampoo otherwise any part of my hair that touches my face irritates it. It will turn an ugly red and also agitate my rosacea. I was limited in what I used before subscription boxes. They have open a whole new world for me regarding hair and skincare. It’s nice to be able to try out fun stuff again knowing it will not harm me.

I just got mine. It has peppermint oil in them and I’m allergic to any kind of mint. I emailed them asking for a refund since I can’t use them and hey said no because I used them. I replied back that I didn’t use it I read the ingredients on the bottle. So glad I cancelled this subscription

I’m always looking for the next box to get, yet based on these 2 items, there is no way I could sign up based on a shampoo and conditioner I may or may not like. If they would have put hair oil or something else a little different in this box along with the other 2 items i may have considered it.

Intelligent Nutrients has a lot of praise for their products (skincare or haircare), and this is really good value for the box. Then again, I’m not sure about a single brand in a box, unless I know which brand will be highlighted first.

In my head, I always think I could use more shampoo and conditioner. However, I have just spent 2 hours sorting my as-yet-unused items from beauty boxes and Ulta orders and no, I don’t need to buy any cosmetic, skincare, or hair treatment items for the next 2-3 years. *Maybe* I will need shampoo and conditioner and sunscreen in the middle of next year. (I have filled up three small sets of Sterilite drawers, 6 JustFab shoe boxes, and 11 Birchbox/Glossybox/Sample Society boxes. And I have only been at this for about 10 months.)

Is it the angle of the shot or is the cap cracked!? I’m glad nothing did leak, those bottles really are big for a subscription box.

It is cracked. I forgot to mention that. Fortunately nothing spilled out.
