  1. 10 samples for $18 and almost everything was complete garbage! Not even worth listing them out here, the only thing of value was the dermalogica daily microfoliant. I basically paid $18 to try it. Never again with these mystery boxes.

  2. I’m not sure how I ended up getting shorted two samples. And then the other eight that I did receive included THREE perfume samples and a foil packet that doesn’t have anything in it! I am so upset!!!!

  3. I feel like I was a little let down by a few of the things in my box. I got box a and box b with 10 samples each. Between the 2 boxes i got 4 perfume samples! I don’t care if they are expensive ones I don’t think they even smell good! Along with those I also got this ugly bobby pin clip thing and a self tanner I will never use. Besides those few let downs I am happy with everything else I got especially the dermalogica daily microfoliant. I have used this product before and I love it. I also got a few different moisturizers and a nice color nail polish. Overall I think it was still an awesome deal, I just wish it didn’t have so many perfume samples.

  4. I am so happy with my boxes!!!

    Box A:
    – Illume travel candle Balsam and Cedar $3
    – Lorac Perfection mattifying face primer $6
    – Borghese Splendore brightening makeup $30

    – Murad Pore and Line Minimizing Hydrator $10
    – H2O+ Oxygenating Rejuvenator $6
    – Caudalie radiance serum $5
    – Yu-Be skin Cream $2

    Total = $163

    Box B:
    – Illume travel candle Anemone $3
    – Lorac Perfection mattifying face primer $6
    – Butter nail polish in Bobby Dazzler (my first) $15
    – Oscar Blondi mousse $4
    – Bamboo volume spray $5
    – Borghese makeup remover $4
    – Erno Laszlo repair balm $10
    – Sonya Dakar flash facial $38

    – H2O+ Oxygenating Rejuvenator $6
    – Herban essentials aromatherapy towelette $1
    – Juliette Has a Gun Anyway perfume $1
    – Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers – 30 sheets $12

    Total = $143

For $40 + tax I got $306 worth of products and for once nothing is going in the gift pile! 😀

    • Thanks to you and everyone else who posted the contents of their boxes. I am glad I did not give in to temptation, because I have most of these items already.

    • Love that you put the values. I started a spreadsheet but couldn’t figure out the candles or fragrance. I knew each box was $100 at least the moment I opened them but to hear $300 total is amazing. I’m recently 40 and have oily t-zone so for me these products are perfect balance of anti aging and oily skin.
When they last had the mystery boxes I gave my son most of the cleansers and I kept 1/3rd of the items and I listed a lot of items…like 8 fragrances. This I know I will mostly use. I love those Tatcha papers but would never pay $12 for them.

  5. My boxes got here today and easily each had $100 of value in them. I did the 2 $25 ones (1 each of A and B) and I used my September coupon for $10 off so paid $42 total (included tax). Looks like you already have lists of items so I’ll look to see if mine is matched to any of those. I too was shocked they could get 15 samples in each box and I was pleased to see such valuable items – the Sonya Dakar alone is $40-$45 (crazy I know but boy is that stuff ahh-mazing – here is a hint – try it on the back of you hands to make them look younger). I also was pleased to get items from recent boxes since the revamp.

  6. I bought all boxes available, $25 box A and B, $18 box A and B, $10 box A and B. All boxes had different items. I got only 2 duplicates (sonya Dakar and H2O)

    • Oh, 3 duplicates! The last one was Lorac primer.

  7. The only time it pays to live in PA for subscription boxes 🙂 I put away my samples so hopefully I listed all of them. I was surprised to see they fit 15 samples in one box. Still no Philosphy.

    1. Illume Balsam & Cedar Soy Candle – smells good
    2. LORAC POREfection Matifying Face Primer – is this from this month’s box?
    3. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream – Same size as the one in this month’s BirchBox
    4. Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes
    5. Juice Beauty Steam Cellular Repair CC Cream SPF 30
6.Sonya Dakar Flash Facial (sample size of what was in FFF summer box)
    7. Caviar Cream 10 in 1 Complete Correction Leave-In Hair Protector
    8. Immortelle Perfection Cream
    9. Murad Pore & Line Minimizing Hydrator
    10. Caudalie Radiance Serum
    11. H2O Night Oasis Oxygenating Rejuvenating cream – I received this last time and loved it.
    To Sister:
    12. Oscar Blandi Texture & Volume Spray
    13. Borghese Splendors Brightening Makeup
    14. Jane Iredale PureLash Extender and Conditioner – received 2 from last mystery sale which I gave to my sister.
    15. Jane Iredale Longest Lash – Not sure what it is because it looks like a tube.

My sister received 10 items. I can’t recall all of them. Looking at the text pic
    1-3. 3 were fragrances.
    4. Strivectin -SD Eye concentrate for wrinkles
    5. Murad Exfoliating Cleaner
    6. Looks like a lip gloss.
    7. An orange bottle that says 30 Mineral Cream
    8. AHAVA Mineral Body lotion
    9. Elemental Herbology – all I can see in pix
    10. Caudalie – all I can see is pink

  8. Got mine! Super happy. 30 items – 15 items per box, as advertised. (Note, usually 5 samples cost you $15 on the monthly sub, so 15 samples would be $45. 2 boxes of 15 samples would be $90. I’m very happy to have paid $40 for 30 samples.)

It’s very skincare heavy, which works for me. I’m 52 and go through skin cream waaaaaaay faster than makeup. Plus how many eyeliners, lip glosses, and nail polishes can one human even use. Also? Skin products are expensive. So I’m happy!

Each box has a candle (ugh), 2-3 makeup items, 1-2 hair items, and the rest skin care. I’m very satisfied. 🙂

    • 1 box (don’t know which is A and which is B):
      – soy candle
      – Lorac Perfection mattifying face primer
      – Borghese Splendore brightening makeup
      – Jane [somebody whose name is too small to read) lash extender and conditioner
      – Jane Sameperson mascara
      – Oscar Biondi texture & volume hair spray
      – Caviar CC Cream leave-in hair perfector
      – Sonya Dakar Flash Facial1
      – Murad age reform for eyes
      – Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC cream
      – Immortelle Precious Cream
Murad Pore and Line Minimizing Hydrator
      – H2O+ Oxygenating Rejuvenator
      – Caudalie radiance serum (teeny)
      – Yu-Be skin Cream (teeny)

    • Other Box:

      – soy candle
      – Lorac Perfection mattifying face primer
      – Butter nail polish
      – Oscar Biondi mousse
      – Bamboo volume spray
      – Borghese some sort of blue gel I can’t begin to read even with glasses
      – Erno Laszlo repir balm (???) (teeny)
      – 2 hairties
      – Another Sonya Dakar flash facial (sample)
      – Purlisse face moisturizer
      – Philosophy hope in a jar night cream
      – Murad essential C day cream
      – H2O+ Oxygenating Rejuvenator
      – Herban essentials lavender aromatherapy towelette (1)
      – Juliette Has a Gun Anyway perfume
      – Tatcha Japanese Beauty Papers – 30 sheets

      • Thanks for the list! I was really curious. Some of these things don’t even look like they have been in those boxes in the past year and a half or so. Looks like fun though, I want more skincare too 🙂

        • Hi,
I just thought I would add a comment. I have received 2 boxes a month of Sample Society for the last year. It looks like all of these products I have gotten(and really enjoyed!). I usually got Kit A and Kit E. Most of these samples are great for normal/oily skin, if anyone needs that info. Great products, but not if you have very dry skin. I love the old Sample Society. Allure is doing a good job with the revamp. But I am going to miss swapping products with friends.

      • Glad you have these lists because I got the same but not the hair ties. I think for $42 I paid it was amazing value. Aside from the lavender towlette I will likely use everything and swap very little.

  9. So I got my order. It’s not 30 boxes like last time…it’s 30 ITEMS. I don’t feel like I got a deal.

    • What did you get? Looks like they’re still in stock and I’m still debating about whether or not to order. Thanks!

    • Tami: It said 30 items…?

      Caitlin: See above

  10. Wow.. Got tracking info already.. should be here Sat.

  11. I ordered these SS boxes off of so I could use an additional 20% discount with the promo code YESTOSOAP. Yes, you can use multiple promo codes.

  12. Anyone have a code from their sample society box they’re not using that I can use? I’m not a subscriber and the code above won’t work for me. Thanks!

    • The code above *is* the code from the sample society box. I guess they can see through your account whether or not you got a September box.

  13. It’s in stock for the $25 boxes. Can someone help me? How long will these last usually? Will they be available a week from now?

    • Usually a few hours. This might last longer because people stocked up during the last sale which was a few months ago.

      • Wow, Brandy! They are still available. Maybe the will be next week. They did run a few big sales a couple months ago with a even larger discount. I’m tempted to buy another set although I’m getting near my limit of what I think is acceptable to have sitting around my house. Still it is hard to resist! I hope the boxes are available for purchase next week.

  14. Thanks Liz for the info. I was in such a hurry to order the $25 boxes that I did it wrong. I brought 1 box instead of both. However, I called customer service. They added the missing box and applied the $10 discount as a credit to my account.

  15. I bought one set of $25.00. Looking forward to seeing what I receive.

  16. thought about it…had it in cart…came back…sold out…waited a little while…came back…back in stock…quickly purchased 2 $25 boxes…I need help 🙂

  17. I got ten boxes last time, so I really should have passed these up. But I have no self control, so I got the two $25 ones. Yay for indulging myself!

    • Me too! and i still have so many stuff left from last time, but I couldnt pass on this deal!!

  18. The 25$ boxes are available again. I just ordered 2 and used the 10$ off, so 30 samples for 40$ is a great deal. Thanks for posting this!

  19. and they are sold out. Was in my cart and then went… Nope.. none for YOU!

  20. Nooo! Just as I was checking out it says sold out of the $25 boxes :(. I hope they come back in stock!

    • HURRY!!! They have more

      • Yes!! I got it! I called customer service and they said it was in stock and I was able to add it to my cart. Woohoo! 🙂 Thanks for letting me know.

  21. I am sample society’s bitca so I jumped right on that. I got the 2 $25 boxes (box A and box B) with the $10 off… so 30 samples for $40, free shipping.

I was allowed to pay through my amazon account, which I appreciated.

Also it SAYS they will arrive tomorrow. I will post what I get.

Personally I prefer spending $40 on something which I know is all beauty (makeup or skin care)… as opposed to spending $40 on a PSLE or FFF or similar, when I find there are 1 or 2 value items and then a lot of crap thrown in that I don’t actually need and would never buy. Especially snacks.

  22. OK, so I used the code and ordered an A and a B. I’m a new subscriber and my first box came just last week, so I think that might keep duplicates to a minimum.

If you buy these, check your email receipt. Although my email receipt shows A and B, the confirmation page looks like I ordered two A boxes. I had to add them separately into the shopping cart. I’m sure it’s fine but it took me a few seconds of staring at the screen thinking, hey, that can’t be right.

    • I actually just called customer service about this same thing. If you look at the invoice that comes to your email it will show correctly. They are having the tech team look into it from the website side, but the order side is correct.

      • Awesome, Wendy! I was just about to call them to be 100% sure — this helps!

        • Thanks for this info! i noticed it after placing the order and I was about to cancel and re-order the boxes. Then I check the email, and it shows A & B correctly.

  23. I think with the $10 off, I can’t go wrong ordering 2 of the $25 boxes. I love my Sample Society subscription but I’ve only been a member for 3 months.
Also, if anyone is interested, Ruelala is selling PopSugar Must Have boxes for $24.95. It says it is for 1 intro box and then you are auto subscribed at the current rate but you can cancel that.

  24. I didn’t love mine last time even though it was only my second foray into subscription boxes. So it’s not like any were duplicate items. And, the price is higher this time, isn’t it?

  25. Help Liz! So sorry, but I’m trying to find an email for the swap and can’t find anything. I also tried to click “contact” at the bottom of your site, but it’s super slow and saying “database error”

I have an issue with the swap site. A user with a fraudulent account is on again and I have matching address to prove it. Please let me know who I can report this to. I already sent her $80 worth of stuff, so hopefully it gets taken care of before it happens again. Sorry to reach out here, but nothing else is working and I know you’re really active with comments. Thanks.

    • Nevermind, I got the page to load and will email you. You can delete this if you want.

      • Just got your email and wrote back.

  26. Oh that’s tempting! Must control myself! I LOVED these last time!

  27. I’m kind of hesitant.

    (1) Are these more of the old boxes they found? Because I bought like 5 of those.

    (2) Or are they the new boxes since the revamp? Because I don’t need any more Laura Mercier highlighter (which is the same color as my skin).

    • I’m willing to bet (due to the pictures on the link) that’s these are the old boxes. The old black boxes that is.

      • Yeah, probably the moisturizer party boxes from the last couple of months before the relaunch (because the black boxes on sale last time were a little older than that).

    • Although, if you are interested and a SS subscriber, you can get two mystery packs for $40 if you use your BeautyBar dot com code for the month. And it still qualifies for free shipping. But I’m probably not going to do it (just thought I’d pass the information on).

    • The Laura Mercier highlighter is AMAZING! I swapped for a spare but will buy a full-size when I run out. It’s perfect.

      • It’s not amazing if it’s the same color as your skin (so it doesn’t show up at all when you use it — I was PILING it on and you couldn’t even tell it was there)…
