Bulu Box Subscription Box Review & 50% Off Coupon - Sept

Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription box. Their original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and supplements, and they also have a WeightLoss box that features healthy products and diet supplements. This review is of the original Bulu Box.

Bulu Box sent me this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Bulu Box Subscription Box Review & 50% Off Coupon - Sept 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items in your box.

Bulu Box Subscription Box Review & 50% Off Coupon - Sept 2014 Hair

Zego Sunflower Seed Bar - Value $3

NuHair NuFoam - FULL SIZE! Value $24

If you are looking for an energy/protein bar that is free of all the major allergens, this Zego bar is great. (I avoid gluten and dairy so I had to try it immediately!) It's made with almost all organic ingredients, and while it doesn't look super appetizing (picture sunflower seed butter in bar form) it was pretty good!

I was surprised to find a full-size high-value item in this box! (Usually Bulu Box just sends out samples). This NuHair foam is supposed to help you get thicker hair if used for a minimum of 4 months. I'll probably swap this since I'm good with hair thickness for now.

Bulu Box Subscription Box Review & 50% Off Coupon - Sept 2014 Vitamins

Hercules Multi Vitamins Daily Pack - Value $1.50

Simple Being Nutrition Daily Personal Vitamin Gummies - Value $1

Of course I went for the gummy vitamins first! These were really good and didn't have that vitamin taste some vitamin gummies have. (But that may mean they have more sugar.)

Bulu Box Subscription Box Review & 50% Off Coupon - Sept 2014 Probiotic

Probium Probiotics 2 Servings - Value $.50

ClearLungs Chest Rub - Sample

I would have preferred if they had included the Probium Probiotic sample for women instead of kids. Oh well.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $30. This is a great value, but from my experience it is somewhat out of the norm. Bulu Boxes normally have a value of around $10. This is actually still a great deal in my opinion because of their points/rewards system. With the 50% off coupon you can get your monthly box for $5 (or less with an annual subscription), and then you get $1 to spend in the Bulu shop for every product you review. So this box would cost you $5 and you'd get $6 back in the shop!

Do you subscribe to Bulu Box? Have any Bulu points strategies to share?

I’ve been increasingly disappointed every month with the boxes as they don’t seem to focus on weight loss. Instead, it seems like they try to “spin” a way to sort-of be related to weight loss with statements like “Don’t skip your workout because of a headache” for the Ridgecrest Migraine Relief capsules. REALLY??
Regardless, I don’t need prenatal pills, or kids Probium, migraine pills, or hair rejuvenation. What do these products have to do with loosing weight?? Nothing.

I got a 6 month weight loss subscription for a friend, she only got 2 months out of it and is pregnant now. So she can’t use hardly any of the stuff that comes in it now! What do I do??
I don’t think they’ll refund me. And I don’t think there is an option for “I’m pregnant”. Luckily I got the 6 month sub for $30 instead of $60, but $30 is still a lot of money for only 2 boxes of Bulu Box… Maybe she can just hoard them and use them in 9 months.

I also got the weight loss box and this month I got pre-natal vitamins and the kids Probiotics for kids. I have no idea how these items are in the “weight loss” category. Not sure if I’m going to extend my subscription when my three months are up.

I got the weight loss version of this box and I was very disappointed in this months box. The only thing I got related to weight loss was a half serving sample of a protein powder. I also got that hair thickening foam, which has terrible reviews online and has been known to make your hair fall out! I hated that I got a kids vitamin sample since that not only has nothing to do with weight loss but I don’t have any kids or kids in my life. I got the weight loss box because I wanted to have items to help me lose weight and for the only value in this box to be a hair foam that im just going to throw away… really bothers me. I would have rather had a full size sample of the protein powder that I’m actually going to use than get a worthless product that I will just have to throw away. Considering August was an amazing box for me I guess it evens out but I will not be renewing this box once my subscription is up.

Thanks for the review! I’m still waiting for mine to arrive. I used the 50% off code to get a 3 month subscription for $15 (which also comes with a 1 year sub to Women’s Health magazine) and sent in for the $8 rebate for the magazine, making the 3-month sub only $7 (or $2.33/box). Pretty worth it if you ask me!

I’m thinking of subscribing, especially since there are a few things in the store that I am interested in purchasing. Are the reviews short and easy to earn points? Or do I need to type long winded answers and essentially make up answers as one supplement is rarely enough to get a feel for anything?

Reviews are as short as Birchbox in my experience.

I haven’t figured out how to use the points to get anything other than products I am meh about. I bought a 6 month with a discount similar and so far the best full sized I’ve received was a joint pain rub which is meh. Of course my joint pain is bad enough that it’ll probably require surgery so maybe I’m putting too much on it. I think this is a good concept but I’m not loving it. I could easily use the month for a year to purchase one of the FFF or other special quarterly boxes… like the MSA quarterly… and probably get more out of it.

Thanks for the review. I’ve yet to receive my box, so it’s good to know what will be in it and the goodies I’ll receive 🙂
