Beauty Box 5 Review & Coupon Code - September 2014 Info

Each Beauty Box 5 box comes with an informational card detailing each item in your box for that month.

Beauty Box 5 Review & Coupon Code - September 2014 Nail Polish

My Beauty Spot Nail Polish - FULL SIZE! Value $4

LashEm 3 in 1 Eye Bright - 5 ml Value $13

This nail polish was one of the spoilers this month. I knew it would be available in a variety of colors, so I'm happy to get a fall appropriate shade. And the LashEm is a paraben-free serum for undereye circles, wrinkles, etc. I'll give it a try!

Beauty Box 5 Review & Coupon Code - September 2014 Toe Separators

Sally Hansen Toe Spacers - Value $2

Nicka K Eye Light Crayon in Gold - FULL SIZE! Value $4.49

This Nicka K Eye Light Crayon was the other spoiler this month. Again, each box may have a different color. I was hoping for pretty much any color than this one since it's a yellowish gold which is not an everyday look for me. It applies really well, but I won't be using it that often!

Beauty Box 5 Review & Coupon Code - September 2014 Natural Style

Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner & Co-Wash - 1 oz total Value $1

If you read this blog frequently you may already know that I am not a fan of foil packets! At least this deep conditioner is paraben and sulfate free.

Verdict: I paid about $8 for this box (annual subscription with coupon) and I received about $25 worth of products. This isn't a WOW box for me (toe separators are just never exciting), but I think I'll use everything, so I got my money's worth.

What did you think of the September Beauty Box 5?

really don’t like this subscription- tried two months. This month I got the complete opposite of liz, purple eye shadow stick and gold nail polish. Two things I know I won’t use. Box this month was a total bust! will be cancelling asap!

Beautybox 5 is a bust. Only joined to get free box. Very disappointed. Low end products and samples. Already cancelled. I do enjoy my ispy so far.

I’m disappointed in my box too. I got the same toe separators ($1.99) and hair foil samples ($1). The Nick K eye crayon in gold ($2 on Amazon), My Beauty Spot Nail polish in gold ($2.99 which I can only find on ebay) and the Revlon Bold Laquer mascara ($7.99). Technically the value is still there at about $16 worth of stuff, but I might only use the Mascara. I don’t really need or like anything else.

This box was just sad. I’m not going to renew.

I got the same box as Liz (same nailpolish color) except my eye crayon was purple instead of yellow (fine by me). However, I have decided to cancel. I just cannot get excited about toe separators — I don’t use them and this is my 4th pair.

And while I applaud the inclusion of multicultural hair products in a subscription box — since women of color ought to be able to enjoy beauty subscriptions, too (and are frequently left out when items like self-tanner are included) — this is the second time in as many months that BB5 has included such products for me (I am Caucasian and have Caucasian hair, I don’t co-wash, and there is simply not enough product in the foils for me to deep condition my waist-length hair).

So two of the items are busts and there’s nothing wowing me about the other three. Since I paid full price for this box, I’m not particularly happy.

I did a review on Facebook. I received the exact items minus a different color shadow stick, I received silver and the same color nail polish but I received a 0.5 oz acne spot treatment instead of the under eye type treatment.

I googled all the items. The nail polish $1.99 the Nicka K $1.99-2.99 I found. Free foil samples you get 4 free but pay $2 shipping. Making these samples at most $1 value and the spot treatment valued at $2 dividing since its not full size. The toe seperators are marked as $1.99 I just personally put those lower. Making this box purchasable at $8-10 and not including shupping. I paid $12.

I feel I may have possibly received my monies worth but since I won’t use the aweful conditioner and toe seperators. I guess the nail polish and nicka k is just okay. I won’t use most items so I definitely did not get my monies worth.

I cancelled this service until I see a grand item or even something recognizable by the drug store. Nicka k is decent as a chraper brand but the rest is junk they drug out to get rid of it seems.

All my other subs just put this wayyyy out of the water and definitely enough to cancel. I received wonderful items from my other subs so this was a total disappointment and the items from the pics are even smaller in person.

I was okay with the box. I received a mascara instead of the eyebright, and although I dislike foil packets, I was happy to see something included for us women of color, because that hardly ever happens in these boxes. The nail polish I received is a rich, deep blood-red color that I love. The only disappointment is the gold eye crayon. I love the color, and it goes on very smoothly, but it flakes like you would not believe. Right into the eyeball. Ouch. :/

Got my box today. I got sucked into this with the get August free wyb September deal. I will not be persuaded again to try this box. Every single time I get that Revlon mascara. Got the two conditioner samples (which by the way are for ethnic hair). Luckily I have friends who may enjoy these. I also got gold shadow and gold polish. Gold absolutely does not work with my skin tone. Got the toe separators but I get mine done at a salon. Not one thing that I will use in this box. Most disappointing box of any box I have received (in any subscription line). Done with BB5! But I hope everyone else enjoys their box!

I got a bright gold nail polish, it’s alright smells horrible though. I don’t know if they all smell like that or what. It almost smells like white out, just intensified by 1000. I got 2 foil packs of the FUBU conditioner, the toe separaters, Nika K eye crayon in silver and Dr Lin acne spot corrector. Very underwhelmed with the box this month, I haven’t been too unhappy with Beauty box 5 the past few months since I started, it’s just forgettable. Nothing I’m ever super excited about and haven’t been that impressed with sample sizes.

I got the gold eye crayon too. Yuck. Got a decent polish though. Gifting the crap Revlon mascara to a teenager. I got the same foils – I just throw all foils in my travel bag…

I signed up to get the free August box, with the plan to cancel after the September box, and I have no regrets cancelling. This box feels so cheap to me, worse than ipsy. IMO bb is better and cheaper, and SS is WAY better. So long, bb5.

I had to laugh at your comment because that was exactly what I wrote them when I canceled. That I liked it less than ipsy and it cost more! I’ll be sticking with my 2 birch box accounts! I sometimes am disappointed in 1 sample, but never a whole box! Plus I’ll take that $5 and buy me something nice 🙂

I cancelled immediately and got an email that they will respond within 4 days (!!!). I hope they don’t jerk me around with the cancelling….

This is he second month in a row where they sent me black nail polish….kinda irked me, but what really ticked me off was I finally received my order from the shop where I added (2) of the $5 mystery full size products. Both mystery packs were the exact same thing! Red nail polish and a brush. Waste of $10. If they were going to be the same products they should have noted that in the description

Mine hasn’t even shipped yet, despite them sending a shipping notice 6 days ago. Which is pretty typical in my experience with them. This is my last box in my latest 3 month sub, for which I only paid $6/month. It’s been worth about $6/month across the board. My biggest problem? Them trying to charge me for a new 3 month sub yesterday, despite the fact I didn’t have an auto renewing plan, bought it as a gift sub, and didn’t update my credit card info when it recently changed for just this reason. Glad I opted not to since they had every intention of billing me all over again, but at full price this time, without any authorization. After the debacle with their LE box not a month ago, where my card was billed two days in a row after I ordered 1 box, and then again on a third day, and then argued with me saying I must have kept ordering them (I’m pretty sure I would remember buying the same thing 3 days in a row; I’m 39 not 99). It took me weeks to get a refund (@ $40 each).

–As a side note, is this the same FUBU brand as the “For Us By Us -FUBU” brand? I ask because if it is, the conditioner might not be a great for non-ethnic hair. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they sent something and didn’t note the target audience. The boxes have gotten worse and worse each month. It’s started to look like junk they pick up at dollar store clearance sales in bulk, or that they buy in large, unmarked lots from Chinese resellers on eBay. My money is on the latter. Regardless where they’re sourcing these boxes o crap, I won’t be paying for another one. And if you have a gift sub, be sure to delete your card info unless you want to be charged for a new sub you didn’t order or authorize. Super shady. And speaking as a federal prosecutor, not terribly legal.

I got the Revlon lacquer mascara instead of the LashEm, my polish was a brownish color which I love and the crayon was violet and it is really pretty. I like my box besides the toe separators, not so much into painting my toes.

I think Ill get another box, I was not impressed with the mystery box so I was hoping September would be nicer which it was. October is my birthday month so hoping for some really nice goodies.

I agree, I was not impressed with the mystery box either, regret getting that one. My Sept. box had the mascara, nail polish in a blue-ish gunmetal color that I love, gold eye crayon which I didn’t mind as it will work with my coloring for use as a highlighter. My feet is too small for any toe separators to work. Not crazy about foil packets either but I do appreciate good conditioners.

The free Aug. box was my favorite especially the Nanacoco lipgloss (richly pigmented) but I went ahead and emailed them to cancel. Like a previous poster said, most were not things I would go out and buy.

I found that the prices they had listed on the card were more than you could actually buy the items for (if you are able to find them anywhere other than the bb5 website). The Nicka K eye light crayon is available on style21.com for $1.99. The nail polish… I couldn’t find that anywhere for purchase online, except an expired listing on Groupon for it. The Fubu deep conditioner… I was only able to find that available as FREE samples online. Anyway, I have cancelled my BB5 subscription because I think there are way better subscriptions out there. The value of my box (I received the Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara instead of the eye serum) was $16.48. Unimpressive to say the least, and there wasn’t one thing in my box that I would go out and purchase. That seemed to be the case for all of my BB5 boxes.

I agree, I noticed that with their last box too, one of the reasons why I cancelled, it is an affordable subscription but I want to save my money and I feel like their products are actually really cheap.

I just looked up the Lashem 3 in 1 eye bright.. I found it on Amazon for a little over $16 for 0.5 fl oz. That would make your sample worth just under $3. It also has pretty bad reviews.

Mine is in DHL limbo somewhere in Atlanta, where it has been for 3 days. (I live in the Atlanta area, so there’s really no excuse for that.)

I’m not thrilled by toe separators, either. I think this is my 4th pair and I have never used any of them.

I organized my stash the other day and have an entire Glossybox box full of foil packets. I’ll bet it’s enough to take care of my skincare and shampoo needs for two weeks. I should start using them.

I’m thinking about canceling BB5. We’ll see what colors of polish and eye crayon I get first.
