New Subscription Box – French Box

French Box - A New Subscription Box

UPDATE 2: I was able to get the site to work this morning, but it looks like they’ve sold out of their initial box. I reached out to them and I’ll update when I find out more.

UPDATE: Within 10 minutes of posting their site went down! I’ll update when it is working again. (In the meantime this is the link to their Facebook page if you want to check it out).

I’m pretty intrigued by this new subscription and I had to share. (Plus they have a special introductory offer on pricing).

The Subscription Box: French Box

The Cost: $24 a month (First box special – $14!)

The Products: Each box contains 5 products from French brands: fashion, cosmetics, gourmet and others surprises! FrenchBox is the best way to discover or share the latest products from France.

Ships to: US only.

What do you think of this new subscription? I have no idea what will be in the first box, but they already have me sold on the chic packaging and design of the site!

    • Thanks for the heads up. I was just able to sign up too. I tried this morning and it said sold out, but now they have some more boxes. So, if you weren’t able to get one this morning, try now. I got the $14 for the first month deal.

  3. Glad I went back and looked through the comments. I signed up for the September box. Hope it’s good. I thought that they asked for the birthday because in the terms and conditions it said you had to be 13 or older. I also google the phone number and it hit back against a website about all things french in Florida. Matches what the newsletter confirmation says about the company being in Florida. Now to contact them about whether they are shipping wine since I do live in PA.

    • I was super suspicious and I checked out the owner on the State of Florida’s corporations search page… it looks legit.

    Both will be here before we visit Paris in October!

  6. Thanks for posting this, it wasn’t widely advertised so I would never have come across it normally. A Francophile friend and I both signed up for the first month’s box with no problem around 3:30 EST.

  7. I was not able to get a monthly box so decided to go ahead and sign up for the annual subscription and received confirmation. I can hardly wait. I have been to France a couple of times and wish I could go to Paris right now. The French Box will have to make me happy until I can go again.

  8. I was wondering why they ask you for your date of birth when you subscribe, so I started looking around on their site. It looks like one of the brands they carry is wine! I guess my husband will love it.

    • I was wondering the same thing — I did not think of wine – I thought of a birthday email – Maybe alcohol flavored yummy wine chocolates –

    • I hope it’s not wine, not because I don’t like wine, but because it can’t be shipped to PA. Liz, do you think they would send wine, you would have the same problem.

      • Definitely because there are no exceptions unless you are a PA licensed distributor/package store. No shipments of wine to PA residents’ homes.

        • I live in PA and sent me an order of two Bordeauxs in the past. I’m not sure how the restrictions work but some companies do ship to PA.

    • Oh I think it would be fantastic to get a mini bottle of wine in this box! I am so excited about this box that I ordered 2!

  9. I, too, was just able to sign up for the monthly option 🙂 Although the yearly one sounds like a great deal, I need to see how their boxes are before committing. I love everything French though, so hopefully this will be THE box for me 🙂

  10. When you go to the French box website, at the top of the page, you can click on brands. There are only 4 or 5 listed. And it says we will get 5 items in the description. Is that a “spoiler” of some sort? Something to think about ladies.

  11. Was just able to gt the monthly box after refreshing my page several times. BTW, signing up with that FB thing only subscribes you to their newsletter.

    • Also, did you notice that they’ve changed it to say the first shipment is September 2014? Also, if you look at the yearly selection option, it implies that each box will be worth $84. At least that is how I’m reading it. I kind of wish I’d opted for the yearly subscription since it breaks down to only $17/box.

      • I took it as they were saying the four boxes were a TOTAL of $84.00. But I could be sooooo wrong. lol

      • $24*12 is $288, so that is a savings of $84 if you do the annual.

  12. Not sure what happened, but just now I was able to get a monthly box (1:35 EST). I’m not sure what month it is shipping though, because it said “coming soon”, lol. Oh well, I got one either way. 🙂

  17. I should had signed up last night when I saw the post. Oh well. Looking forward to the first review. It must be hard to launch a new box not knowing whether it will take off. I have confidence that since it was the launch with limited quantities that there will be more slots available in the future.

    • Their website was down yesterday after I saw this post. I tried several times and received several different error screens.

  19. Not only did my order finally go thru, it went thru twice!! Grrrr. I sent them an email asking to cancel one and credit my account back. We’ll see how good their customer service really is.

  20. I managed to sign up sometime in the middle of the night (around 3 am or so), I can’t wait! I’m a Francophile and I’ve been waiting for a French themed box for some time now.

  21. Lame. I tried to sub last night. Site down. Finally back up. “No Slot Available” So bummed.

  22. I have been trying for an hour to subscribe and now it says no slots available for this selection… come on.. really!! Is this an indication that every month you have to sign up??.. can’t I just sign up now and get in Queue for all other months- Like a regular monthly subscription?

  23. I got the site to load, but it says “no slots available” when I try for the 1 month option. I’m not going to chance it on a year without seeing a box. 🙁

    • Exactly my point.. it only gives you the yearly option.. really?? I’m hoping that by getting on the subscription list or sign up it means I can get a box or sub next available month (October).

      • Looks like the one year is gone too now- maybe website error?

  26. I can’t get the subscription page to load on their site. It’s very frustrating to want a company to take your money and they won’t/can’t. 🙁

  27. I figured for $14 it’s worth a shot. Signing up was PAINFUL though. Their website is really bogged down, but I was afraid to wait, that it’d sell out.
    At the top of my email confirmation, I got this note: “Be careful! This sender failed our fraud detection checks.” That’s made me a little nervous now…

    • That makes me nervous too! My email confirmation didn’t have such a note.

      • I’m also a little nervous now, My email confirmation did not have the note, and each and everytime I went on a page and enterered personal info I looked for https (s for secure ) and it had it each time, what i did notice was shortly after i signed up their site went down.

  28. I noticed it said you will receive your first box in the month of September, 2015.

    I’m not sure if this is a typo but I will most certainly be waiting to see what you all receive and when.

    • I noticed that too. I couldn’t find any other information referencing when the 1st box is going to ship. I hope it is a typo.

After getting my Ipsy bag yesterday ( my 3rd one ) after being on a 3 month waiting list -ugghh, and feeling like it was best suited for for a younger person, I’m glad I saw this post this morning, I was waffeling all day yesterday about canceling ipsy. For $14 this is worth a try. -I’ve always liked european makeup and beauty products. I also like that cancelation can be made prior to the 15th of the month, and can be done on their website without having to email someone that does not check their emails. – I normally never sign up for a 1st box without seeing a spoiler, yet for $14 for the 1st box, I feel comfortable enough with that price point to sign up. — One thing I’m noticing, while I signed up and now is their website is very slow now, I think it has to do with the website traffic. I’m just glad I signed up before they sell out of their 1st box.

  31. I am intrigued! So tempting, because I just know the first box will be amazing! But I really want to see what sizes of product they send out, how many they send out, so on and so forth… Oh my! What’s a girl to do?!?

    • I feel the same way, I think I might get it before it sells out completely. I can always cancel after the 1st month.

  33. Just ordered this. (Website seems to be working again, yay!) I love all things French, this looks like it will be right up my ally. (Also planning to cancel Ispy after several months of sub-par bags.)

  34. I really want to try this one, I lived in France for a year and fell in love with all things French … but they don’t ship to Canada 🙁

  35. Decided to give this a try. Love Paris and anything French. Was going to go for the annual subscription but decided to do the monthly just to be sure the value is there before I commit for any longer. Can’t wait to receive.

  36. I just ordered it, as the box is adorable. They only seem to have 4 brands and Claudalie is one that comes in other boxes and not a brand I particularly like, but Sothys is a great line as is Provence – and they are mixing it up with some jewelry and treats – I just cancelled Allure so this will be a fun one to try!

  38. Any word on what cancellation will look like if we’re unhappy with the first box. I couldn’t find a FAQ on their site.

    • The site was down when I last checked. It is on the very bottom of their home page ( to me it was tough to find ) what I can remember they ship out the first week of the month, and orders must be placed by the 22nd of the month to get the box, and cancelation can be done online by the 15th. I think there is 2 week window to cancel. Cant remember all the details yet it seemed reasonable enough for me to want to sign up

  40. If you go to the facebook page, under the box on the right hand side that says “about” is another box marked “apps” and in that box it says subscribe to french box. You can click on it, and sign up to request the subscription. It does not take payment or anything but does take you through an email verification process. I hope that signing up for this, will get me a direct email offer when they fix the website issues :o)

    • I checked out their site before I posted and everything was working fine and their checkout was secure, it looks like the site is down right now though. I’ll update when it starts working again.
