My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August

My Geeky Goodies is a brand new subscription box in the Geek Box genre! We get Loot Crate, every version of NerdBlock, and we're always looking for more of these boxes (my husband loves them!) so we recently signed up for this box and MyGeekBox too. (If you know of any others that ship to the US let me know and we will subscribe!)

(FYI - when we first signed up we didn't get a confirmation email, but we did get an email when the box shipped).

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Items

The Subscription Box: My Geeky Goodies

The Cost: $24.99 a month with free shipping to the US

The Products: Geeky gear, toys and collectibles. Plus every box is guaranteed to have a t-shirt or POP Vinyl.

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Shirt

Heisenbear T-Shirt - Value $20?

Send us anything Breaking Bad related in a box and we'll be happy!

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 GoT

POP 3D Maleficent Book Mark - Value $8

Game of Thrones Vinyl Figure - Value $8

I always think these prices for the little figures are high, but then I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and was going to grab a few for my husband and they were $9 each!

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Galaxy

Funko POP Vinyl in Groot - Value $11

The Guardians of the Galaxy POP Vinyls just came out in coordination with the movie so I'm very impressed that My Geeky Goodies got such a current item in the box!

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 TMNT

TMNT TinTastic - Value $11

The TMNT version of TinTastic is listed on Amazon for $18, but it seems like that's a markup and the regular retail is $11.

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Marvel

Star Wars Imperial Cherry Sours - Value $5

Marvel Floppets  - Value $4

Verdict: We paid $25 for this box and received over $60 worth of items! I think the variety of items is great, and I can't believe 4 of the items were Funko! This was a great first box, and I really hope My Geeky Goodies can keep it up - if they do we will subscribe forever!

What do you think of My Geeky Goodies?

UPDATE: When I was breaking down the Geeky Goodies box I found this note at the bottom of the box beneath the tissue:

My Geeky Goodies Subscription Box Review - August

Apparently the Heisenbear Shirt and GoT Mystery Mini are bonus items in the first box as a way to say thanks to anyone who subscribed for the first box. AKA - the value of future boxes won't be as high. If you're thinking of signing up for this box, I would recommend waiting until I have next month's box review up, so you can get a good sense of what the box will be like.

GeekMeBox dot com arrived today. This is their second month and the theme is Retro. This will be the last month of themes. This box will be a hit with my 15 year old son.

1. 80s TMNT T-shirt by NYC Artist Sean
2. 1966 Batman or Robin Pop Vinyl by Funko. He received Batman.
3. The Simpsons 25th or Sonic 20th Anniversary Plush. He received Homer.
4. 1980s Classic Nintendo Controller Tin Mints by Boston America.
5. 1980s Classic Pac-Man Arcade Tin Candy by Boston America.
6. Marvel Grab Zags Blind Bag by GrabZags. He received The Hulk.

I predict this will be a big hit with my 15 year old son. He will see it in a few hours.

That sounds like a box my husband would love! Unfortunately we signed up after the August cutoff. Hopefully September’s box is just as good!

https://www.neek-box.com/ I have found another that ships to the USA. That being said I believe I have developed a serious addiction problem. Is there a self help group of some sort.

That shirt! Huge fan of Breaking Bad. I’m going to have to keep my eye on this box and consider it in the future!

How did you get that price and free shipping to the US? I went to sign up and I got bumped to the 1 month price and added shipping costs for being “outside of the UK” :/

I will be watching your next review closely. I’ve been wanting to add another “geeky” box to my subscriptions and haven’t been able to decide between this one and the Geekmebox. Geekmebox was going to do themes like loot crate but I read on their website that they are not going to do that now. Both boxes are about the same price.

I’m glad that you posted that about GeekMeBox. My older son is waiting for the August box to ship/arrive. I don’t know if he will want to continue if it has no theme. He dislikes Star Wars and Dr. Who which seems to be popular in some of the geek/gamer boxes.

Don’t know if anyone here has Disney Rewards but at the moment they have Guardian of the Galaxy Pop Bobbles, they used to have Groot, but it is sold out. They still have Rocket and Star Lord.

Does anyone knowing there is a movie themed box? I like some things in this type of box, but I’m not a gamer- just a movie buff.

Not sure if it is still available. I would recommend asking them here: http://www.mygeekygoodies.com/contact/

After going to their site and finding their contact section, I sent them an email. That was yesterday afternoon – still no reply. I’m sure the box isn’t still available, but a reply would have been nice.

Liz – DId you mean the UK company or did you mean geekmebox? We are trying out the August box from geekmebox and can’t wait. They are new and August is the 2nd box. Check them out if you are not aware of them yet.

I also emailed MyGeekyGoodies to see if the August box is still available. it got two thumbs up from both boys. My older one loved the POP figure and the Marvel foppet. My younger boy likes the tintastic.

We are also receiving Quarterly Toy and Collectibles box 1 in the next week or so. The theme is our love of video games. They haven’t released the theme for the next box yet. I bought this box specifically for the video game theme.

I think there is room for growth in the gamer market especially if they niche market it. My older son doesn’t care for Star Wars or Dr. Who, but loves Marvel. It will be interesting to see how the boxes fare.

I did not know about GeekMeBox – thank you! Signing up now! And I’ll try to sign up for the Quarterly box if it is still available. I think my husband and your older son have the same taste in boxes – he also loves anything Marvel! 🙂

I love this box!!! I have been trying to track down one of those Groot Pop figures. They are sold out everywhere and are selling for upwards of $40 on eBay….do you know if we will get this box if we subscribe today?

Want this box! If the second is just as good, I’ll cancel my Loot Crate! My worry is they say either a Pop or a shirt, so only the first box will have both.

We watched a couple August Loot Crate unboxings on Youtube. ***SPOILER***
Looks like all will have Pop Glow in the Dark Groot. My teenager’s box is coming tomorrow so we will see….August LootCrate is sold out.

I peeked into his LootCrate and there is a glow in the dark Groot Pop Figure. My teen wanted to give the group a heads up that not only is August LC is sold out, but September LC is waitlisted. He’ll be excited to see Groot when he comes home this afternoon.
