Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – August

Lip Factory is a monthly full-size makeup subscription box. They tend to send a variety of drugstore and mid-tier makeup, and the value seems to always be at least double the cost of the box. (Extra good news – they ship worldwide!)

The Products: Full sized makeup and beauty products.

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Info

Each box comes with a folded card detailing the items included for that month.

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Lip Gloss

Pink Powder Parlor Lipstick #702 - Value $10

LASplash LipGloss in Underground - Value $9

I'm a little hesitant to try either of these items. The lipstick has absolutely no markings on it besides the #702, and it's missing the Pink Powder Parlor logo from the case, so I'm a little skeptical. (I like to read ingredients of all the makeup products I try).

The lipgloss I'm cautious about for another reason - the glitter! This item is getting swapped as I can not pull off a glitter-lip look!

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Medusa

Medusa's Makeup Shadow Primer - Value $8

LASplash Mineral Blush in Beach Party - Value $15

I'm always thrilled to find an eyeshadow primer in a box because it is the one item I never seem to get enough of in subscription boxes. This primer goes on sheer and has a bit of a dewy sheen to it. While I love the finish, unfortunately the staying power is not the best. I may end up using this instead to highlight my brow bone or any time I want to add a bit of a dewy look to my makeup.

This blush is another LASplash item with a little too much sparkle for my taste. I prefer brands with finer shimmer particles to give a more natural glow. (A good one I've been using lately is Lily Lolo).

Lip Factory Beauty Subscription Box Review – August 2014 Nail Polish

Cult Nails Nail Lacquer - Value $12 (On sale for $4.80)

Red Cherry False Lashes - Value $2.50

At first I thought this nail polish was a bit of a weird shade, but it's actually a topcoat that gives an emerald shimmer over your base color. It's 5-free so I think I'll give it a try!

Verdict: I paid $22 for this box and received about $56 retail value worth of items. The value is good, but a lot of these items are misses for me, so this box was a bit of a bust. What did you think of Lip Factory this month?

I got this box
for a while and loved it. I stopped because I just had to much lip stuff. I thought the value was great too

Wouldn’t you know it. My mailman loses my package. Tracking showed out for delivery yesterday and it never arrived. And still nothing today so I called the post office and they say they have no idea where it is. Well thanks a lot postal… Im so tired of them misdelivering or losing my packages. And not compensating me for their mistakes. … Well I emailed lip factory about it and hopefully they can send me a replacement . They have pretty amazing CS so here’s hoping they brighten my day!!

Oh thank god someone else felt the same way. I had just signed up this month and frankly the majority of the items were either unusable or major misses for me. I appreciated getting the eyeshadow primer because it’s an item I never buy for myself but could benefit from and I was a little horrified when I saw the amount of shimmer in the blush but it went on and looked quite nice (though I think I may have received a different shade). The other items were just huge misses for me. The lipstick is just a couple shades lighter than my actual lip color – but not in a pleasing nude way, in a slightly peptobismol way, and I received a sheer nude lip gloss that just does nothing for my complexion.

Honestly, I really appreciate bolder colors and I was hoping with the transition into fall we’d start seeing some of those bolder shades pop up but I was happier with my ELF shipment today than I was this box.

You can change your profile and they seem to pay attention, for what it’s worth. Back when I was subscribing, I was tired of pink and managed to switch to bolder colors. Granted, then they sent me bright blue eye shadow two months in a row, but it was different, at least.

Huh, I had no idea this service had a customization feature. Thanks SB!

I LOVE Lip Factory. I got this month’s box today along with Starbox, and I opened Starbox first, and wanted to cry– or throw it. I hate it so badly. Talk about shimmery blush. And the colors are DARK.

Lip Factory, OTOH, was total win for me. They’ve never sent out fake products. And while I’ve never tried false eyelashes, as soon as I find some good adhesive somewhere, I am so totally going to wear these.
Lip Factory is a company that is trustworthy. It’s NOT shady at all. I’m really surprised that the company was not contacted about the unlabeled lipstick before the review was posted. I do hope you amend it, Liz.

I was extremely close to signing up for lip factory last month. I like the lipstick and gloss, would make great colors for me and the blush. That’s coming from a woman in her 20s. I have been requesting and requesting companies to please send a primer and haven’t received one yet. It would be best I guess to just go out and buy one.

Anyway. . Cult is a nail polish brand that I don’t have and I’ve been wanting to try that brand.

However, I don’t like eye lashes in boxes and the box is on the lower end spectrum.

I think boxycharm sends high end full sizes and always worth over $100 if anyone wants to look into it. That is my favorite makeup sub.

I’m kinda sad I missed this box because I love everything pink! But again it was on the lower end and the only thing judging from the photos that don’t interest me is the eye lashes. I like that they do send unique items! 🙂

I haven’t seen Lip Factory doing all lip items in the months I’ve been watching so I wonder if that is what they are doing next month. They usually have all lip items in there boxes every 3-4 months?!

This is from Lip Factory website. I went to look at my box shipping status and say them comment about the non-labeled lipstick:

Text: Dear Lip Factory Subbie, We’ve been working hard on getting your August beauty boxes out to you in a timely manner! Unfortunately, due to a warehouse error, Pink Powder Parlor shipped us their lipsticks minus their logo. Pink Powder Parlor officially apologizes for the error. These are brand new, unreleased shades. We can assure you that these are directly from the company. We didn’t want you to wonder what was going on when you received your box. We’re really excited for you to experience your August beauty box, and we hope you love it as much as we do! XOXO, Lip Factory

I think Lip Factory is my favorite of the boxes I receive. Yes, they send a lot of brands I have never heard of…and I like to know ingredients too. However, out of all the boxes where you can give your preferences…Lip Factory listens. Almost every month they are spot on with the things and colors I have listed that I love. I like that they look and make sure I will be getting items I love!

I stopped getting Lip Factory awhile back because I have too many glosses and pink lipsticks, plus, half the time, I couldn’t find the brands online to order anywhere (among other things). I probably would not have been thrilled with this box. I do not wear fake eyelashes and am not happy when I get them in boxes (recently sent all the ones I’d accumulated off to be donated to cancer patients).

The topcoat seems interesting, though. Not enough to make me miss this box, though (I think I need to cut back on the beauty subs for awhile).
