Cabin Fever Patient Zero Hand Santizer

I would not want to pull this hand sanitizer out of my purse!

Verdict: We were expecting a box similar to Horror Block, so we were pretty disappointed with this box. It feels like a lot of free movie swag, and nothing of real value. And I wish they had a branded box with a card detailing the items. This was just a brown box full of items.

After this experience we cancelled our Box of Dread subscription – these items definitely did not feel worth the $20 we spent. Maybe other months were better and we hit the wrong month, but it was not a good first impression.

What do you think of Box of Dread?

  1. Wow. I usually roll my eyes at people who threaten to demand a refund on a sub, but I would DEFINITELY feel cheated by that box! $20? No way!

  2. Wow, a bad review from Liz? You know this box is bad! I feel like so many boxes comp MSA out these days so you can’t always tell (hi, Quarterly) but anything Liz dislikes you KNOW is a problem…

  3. BOD has been around since at least last October and from what I understand it was started by one guy amd has really progressed from there. I have been suscribed for at least 5 months and have not been disappointed. We have received several Pop vinyl figures, collectable resin figures, signed artwork and much more. Last month they asked us if we would like less items at a higher value or more items at a lower value and the consensus was a mixture with alternating months. Check out YouTube and watch some previous unboxings before judging so harshly.

    • Unfortunately, all she needs to go off is the $20 worth of junk she received. Why would she change her review based on what other people have received in the past? I’m glad to hear your experience has been better, but no one should have to feel apologetic after blowing $20 on things you could get for free at a comic-con or out of a gumball machine…

      • This ^^^. When it sucks, it sucks. I’m happy there wasn’t a positive spin on the review. Because it was no kidding a worthless pile of crap. And barely any crap at that. It’s a shame since my son has been bugging me about subbing. Showed him this and he quickly changed his mind. If you can’t impress a 12 year old sci-fi fan, it’s a hard sell to wow anyone else.

    • …how was she judging harshly? She said very plainly she wasn’t impressed with this box but maybe other months have been better. That’s pretty fair and almost exactly what your point was, soooo.

  4. Thank you for this review! I really wanted to subscribe to this box, and you saved me money and hassle! I think the same folks do a sci fi themed one, so I’ll pass on that as well. I *have* been considering one out of England, though…. (

    • Did I ask her to change her review? No. Did I ask her to apologize? No. I’m just voicing my opinion as a suscriber so that the other people that are interested and see this review are more open minded.

  5. Gee finally found a box I can easily pass up.

    • Ha ha ha!!! AGREED, normally her reviews have me grabbing my credit card.

  6. Looks like another fly by night box. I predict this one will be around for maybe 3 months, max, and then disappear after taking money for 3 month and annual subs. Just call it a hunch. That was a box of gum ball machine junk! The total value, if one could even call it value, would be generously placed at $4. It’s crap anyone could get for free from any of the movies being promoted, from their local theater. But other than kids wanting that junk while in line for popcorn (which they toss in the car and forget) , no one wants that stuff either. A paper mask? Postcards? Oh come on! At least include ONE item that isn’t a freebie.

  7. I thought the same thing as Anna! lol. That is a terrible box, it looks like all the promotional items they give out at free movie screenings. That’s disappointing : (

  8. Am I the only one who thought it was going to be a review on items to maintain dreads (dreadlocks)? I get it now, but when I first saw it I thought it was a box for dreadlocks similar to the curl boxes subs.

    • I thought the same thing. That is hysterical.
