Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Box

Jordin Sparks is one of the latest celebrities to join Quarterly, and of course I subscribed!  (I'm always a little fascinated about celebrity subscription boxes and so curious about what items they will pick!

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Items

The Subscription Box: Jordin Sparks Quarterly Box

The Cost: $50

The Products: Jordin's favorite items in the categories of culture, lifestyle and beauty.

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing the items in the box and why they were selected.

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Perfume

Jordin Sparks Ambition Perfume Roller Ball (2) - Value ? (I can't find this roller ball for sale online, so I don't know the retail value, but it's being resold on Amazon for $6 each).

I don't wear perfume that often, but I do like this scent! I'll probably end up swapping one of them though since I know there's no way I'll ever use more than one.

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Mascara

Too Faced Better Than False Lashes - Value $35

I think this is the first time I've received a duplicate item in a Quarterly box. (I also received two of these mascara sets in the Olga Kay Quarterly subscription box).

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Camera

Lomography Oktomat Camera - Value $39

Lomography Film - Value $10

I think this is the item in the box I'm most excited about - it takes 8 sequential shots in one 35mm print. (I haven't used a camera with film in years though - it's going to be a little weird not being able to delete photos I don't like, and having to go get them developed!)

Jordin Sparks Quarterly Subscription Box Review #JOR01 Recipes

And to personalize the box even more Jordin included two of her favorite recipes!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $95 - again not sure on the value of the perfumes. I think the value is good for her first box, and it's nice to see what types of items she will be including - when I signed up for this box I had no idea what to expect!

What do you think of the first Jordin Sparks Quarterly box?

I feel like every single fancy box and almost every quarterly box is a big rip off! The first and second bill nye quarterly boxes literally had a value of like $20, if that, and you had to pay $50 PLUS SHIPPING!!

This is a one and done for me. Everything in the box (with the exception of the perfume and the recipes) seemed completely random. However, I don’t wear perfume, and I’m not sure why we received two of them. The recipe cards were a sweet, personal touch, but with my need to lose weight, these aren’t very appealing. One recipe calls for a pound of butter!

I had never heard of this camera before, but I looked up the reviews on Amazon, and the majority were 1 star. Some of the complaints were that it broke after the first roll (or was non-functioning right out of the box, it looks like a cheap child’s toy (I can attest to that), and the parts are very flimsy. While it’s listed with a $39 value, it’s for sale on Amazon for $28. Even at that price, people seem to think it’s overpriced, since with all the problems, it’s essentially a disposable camera, and that’s assuming you can get it to work at all.

I haven’t tried the mascara before, but I’d love to see if it works as well as described.

I love that she added two favorite recipes! How adorable is that? A nearly free addition, yet so personal that it’s value is unmeasureable! Way to go Jordan!

I like the camera which I never heard of before. It is something that I would want to try, yet I would not buy it for myself. I wonder if the perfume is the reason for the holdup since it is not available online yet.

I should had added that I did not purchase the box and was commenting on what was being reviewed.

When you get your photos developed, take the time to let the person at the counter understand what kind of camera it is, and how the pictures should look.

I got a lomography cam, and when I took it to be developed, they erased half of my pictures, and blew up a few shots into full sized pictures. They were supposed to be side by side shots.

But I should have let them know so I can’t be mad at em.

Oh my gosh, I had a really similar experience!
I’ve got a lomo camera with a fisheye lens. When I got the film back, there were only two prints and they were blown up really poorly. I asked about it and they were like “Oh, I just don’t know what happened! The pictures all looked so weird!” D’oh!
Usually, if you send your photos away, you’ll get them all back regardless of how they look. But it’s still worth writing on the envelope that the camera is unusual. Haha

It doesn’t make sense. What were the reasons for picking those items?? Seems so very random – especially the recipes when there are no cooking items.

I agree. I wouldn’t have been happy if I’d paid $50 for this box. :/
