Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review!

In addition to their regular monthly totes, Golden Tote recently introduced a Surprise Item Tote. It's $99 (plus shipping), it's always in stock, and it's always all surprise items. (You can indicate whether or not you are OK with receiving surprise items from previous totes. I opted for only new surprise items just to make sure I didn't get any repeats).

The Box: Golden Tote Surprise Tote

The Cost: $99 plus shipping (Find it in the Boutique)

The Products: 4-5 surprise clothing items. (Available in sizes XS-L)

Check out all my regular Golden Tote reviews too!

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Tank

Sweet Claire Tankย - Value $25

I'm estimating on value from a similar tank by Sweet Claire.

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Detail

I love the detail of this print! The color is great too.

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Wrap

Fantastic Fawn Wrap - Value $45?

This is my favorite item in the box. It's very on-trend, and I'm always cold even in the summer, so I will use this a ton! And the fabric is the same wonderful fabric from the Fantastic Fawn dress in some of the June Golden Totes.

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Top

Miss Love Top - Value $30?

I wasn't too excited about this top when I took the picture, but later when I tried it on I fell in love. It will be perfect paired with jeans.

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Maxi

GI BIU Maxi - Value $50?

Golden Tote Surprise Tote Review Maxi Detail

I was very excited to find a maxi in this tote (I'm a little obsessed with maxis), but I'm not sure how I feel about the neckline - does the way the print was cut bother anyone else? It's one of those things where I put on the dress and I think it's distracting, but I'm not sure if anyone else would ever notice.

Verdict: I spent $99 plus shipping on this Surprise Tote and I received about $150 worth of items. I really like everything in this tote, so the value is worth it for me, plus in general I just love the style of Golden Tote, and they always find items and brands I would never discover on my own.

Haveย you tried a Surprise Tote yet? What did you think of your items? (Also - I ordered a second surprise tote, so that review will be coming soon!)

My obsession with Golden Tote is getting a little ridiculous! My surprise tote was great! The only thing I didn’t like was a pair of black and white printed shorts. At first I thought they were the printed harem pants from June and I got excited, but I hate wearing shorts so they will be swapped. I got 3 other items that were all tops and they are perfect!!

Just going to reiterate how great yours is.

I just got mine and I was sent 3 cropped top dolman shirts. 3! As if 1 wasn’t bad enough.

Got those weird Priddy polyester harem pants also.

Only one really pretty shirt. But it isn’t worth the 100.00 so it’s all join back.

Hope everyone else got some cool stuff!

The same thing happened to me LizM. If you are interested in trading or selling your printed pants (if they are a L or M) let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have not gotten a response from GT yet, so I don’t know if I’ll return the whole tote. If I don’t I’ll let you know. The pants are a large. I like them, but I know I’ll never wear them.

Also, will probably be looking to swap the Fantastic Fawn dress.

Thank you Liz! Sorry the tote didn’t work out.

I love everything you got! I was on the fence about ordering one…I have never done Golden Tote before. Now I really want to order one!!

Wow, I love everything you got! I didn’t notice the neckline until you said something but I don’t think it’s that bad!

I hope mine is half as good as yours, I should be getting it today.

I am almost thinking this is better than Stitchfix at this point, I keep getting sent 100% polyster items going for almost 100.00 each. I would much rather pay for pretty things like this that seem of better quality.

I’ve completely abandoned StitchFix for Golden Tote at this point. My first few Fixes were great but the last few were all boxy, 100% polyester, ugly tops and dresses (despite seeing cute ones in other fixes!) that were way overpriced. At about $25 per item, Golden Tote is just SUCH a better deal, and with the super active FB group (and the swap page here!), it takes a lot of the risk out of the ‘all or nothing’ deal.

I didn’t notice the neckline until you pointed it out. It does seem like something a seamstress could even out though, if it’s bothering you! Worth it for such a gorgeous dress!

I didn’t notice the cut of the print, but now that you pointed it out, I actually really like it! It’s cool and unique.

I received mine yesterday and I requested all new items and got 2 tops, the Fantastic Fawn dress and the Pruella print pants from the June GT. I emailed them about this and told them about the request for new items. I haven’t gotten a reply yet.
I love the tops. One is black Hem & Thread lace top. The other is from Ellison and is white with black details in trend with the whole “southwestern” style. I really want to keep the tote, but I don’t think it’s worth it if I only like half of the clothes.

I didn’t even notice the print on the maxi until you mentioned it! But now I can’t stop looking at it ๐Ÿ™

Sneaky Burrito

That’s kind of how I feel, too.

On the other hand, I found a shirt I really loved at Macy’s the other day, but there was this white part in the print that looked out of place. It was the only one in my size (I went back and looked for others that had been cut out of different sections of the fabric). I took a chance and bought it, and I’ve worn it a few times, and no one has said anything. So maybe we notice stuff but other people don’t?

Anyway, if Liz wears the dress with a wrap or cardigan or something, the pattern thing will probably be even less noticeable.

It looks great! I did not notice the cut on maxi until you brought my attention to it, but then again, I was looking at the pic on my phone. Nevertheless, if it bothers you too much, you can always wear a lightweight scarf with it ๐Ÿ™‚ I am not super excited about the items in July, so I might go for a surprise tote (another one!) and a $49 tote provided the shirt that I am interested in is in it ๐Ÿ™‚ I love GT!!

Kristin

Wow that was quick! I like everything you received except the maxi, I think that’s my least favorite after the fringe one.
I’m so lost now, do I go for the surprise or the July?

How many maxi’s do you own now? LOL

Liz Cadman

I own too many maxis but yet somehow never enough! ๐Ÿ™‚
