GlossyBox Review & Coupon – July 2014

GlossyBox Review & Coupon - July

GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe-size or full size, and the value is usually really good too. The only issue with this box seems to be the late shipping – I would recommend just keeping that in mind and setting your expectations accordingly if you sign up for this box.

Amazingly enough though I got an email shipping notice for this box on the 18th!

GlossyBox Review & Coupon - July 2014 Info

Each GlossyBox comes with card detailing the items included.

GlossyBox Review & Coupon - July 2014 Glam Glow

Philip B. PH Restorative Detangling Toning Mist - 2 oz Value $11

GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment - .5 oz Value $19

This GlamGlow mask is one of the best masks I've ever tried (I've sampled it before in another box), and I'm thrilled to have more of it. It's free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, and it really helps clean my pores. I tried the Philip B. mist on my dry hair, but it seems like I'll notice the most different on wet hair. (It's supposed to help adjust the pH of tap water, and add shine). I'm not a fan of the scent, but it seems to fade quickly.

GlossyBox Review & Coupon - July 2014 Serum

Mitchell and Peach Body Cream - 1.4 oz Value $13

SkinInc Custom Blended Brightening Serum - 10 ml Value $45

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm - 7 g Value $8.40

I really like this Malin + Goetz Mojito lip balm, and I'm kind of thrilled that it isn't the full sized version! (The full size version is just a tube with no applicator, but this slightly smaller version has the normal lip balm applicator top!)

I'm happy with the size of this lotion, and it's a brand that's new to me, but the scent just isn't my style. And I guess I need to get over the fact that this serum reminds me of the Orbitz drink of my childhood and give it a try!

Verdict: My version of this month's box has a value of $97 - even though about half of that is from the serum I think it's still great. The stand out products for me so far are the lip balm, and the GlamGlow, but I'm going to try out the hair pH spray after I shower and give the serum a try too. I would have loved to see more makeup items in the box this month, but I'm still happy with the box overall. What do you think of the July GlossyBox?

“Reminds me of the Orbitz drink of my childhood”……… Lol. Thank you for giving me that wonderful flashback 🙂 I used to drink those things all the time when I was younger. I was always amazed how they put perfectly round floating balls of glob into the liquid & they didn’t disintegrate over time. Blew my mind lol.

I’m with Liz on the lotion scent – definitely don’t like it. It’s not floral as the description sort of implies (“English Growers”) unless that’s supposed to be the scent of dirt? Not on my “buy full size” list!

Liz, I got an email with four spoilers in it but can’t find a ‘contact’ button on your site to fill you in.

Hey Liz, the Philip B product works like a dry shampoo but it is wet, apple cider vineagar is like a clarifying cleaning agent, so use it on wet hair it is not as harsh as regular shampoo. Good luck

Sneaky Burrito

i tried the Philip B product last night. Smell disappeared fairly quickly and it definitely helped with detangling. My hair is in pretty good shape today although I also tried a new shampoo and conditioner last night so I can’t definitively say which product is responsible for that.

This is my first Glossy Box. When should I expect it?

I finally got my glossybox today. – It had – Red Nail Polish I know I wont be using, glam glow I know I wont be using, lipbalm I have enough of. The cleansing polish I don’t mind and the detangling mist sounds interesting. The brightening serum looks fun enough to try. – The box was okay. Worth the $21 a month. Glad I did not get an extra box this month though. The bergdorf box so far has been the most fun.

Indeed, I agree that the May Glossy box this year has been far above exceptional of all the other boxes.

Was anyone else not able to fill out any surveys for the July Glossybox? It says there are none available. I want to be sure to get my glossy dots.

Reply ButtonReply

jennifer

I just filled them out. My account lading page still shows they aren’t available but I thought I’d just click the button and check anyway and low and behold they were available. Website glitch I think.

I’m glad you brought this up, I thought it was just me that did not have any surveys

I just loved this box. Glossybox has come a long way in the year I have been with them. Full sized beautiful products. I highly recommend them

I liked this box. I have enough makeup and nail stuff to last until I am a 100 so I like the selections they chose. Skin care is so expensive so I am always happy to receive it. I got the skin serum full size in another box and it is doing my skin wonders, I love it. The face mask was clogged with one of the chunks and squirted the whole thing out which bums me out. I did use it but wish I had enough for 2 or 3 uses which I now don’t. The lip stuff is nice. Haven’t tried the other two products yet. I did think there was an eyelash curler in this box because of promo pics so I was kinda bummed it didn’t.

The same thing just happened to me too! The face mask first did not open correctly, then it was clogged. I ended up with a couple long pieces of what looked like plastic. It seemed like good stuff, but the bottle was so empty once the large chunks came out…..

The scent of the lotion sure is strange and it seems water based.

Do like the antiaging serum I got. I am going to end up with a second of these boxes due to the sale and I am just not that impressed with some of these items.

This was a good box, especialy compared to last months! I really enjoyed my Glossyboxes, but decided to cancel some of my subs since I have an upcoming (and really expensive) wedding. Sacrifices. I’ll still get the August box though! I will more than likely resub after the wedding. Unlike most people, I have never has a customer service or shipping issues.

Sneaky Burrito

Seems Glossybox is changing the way they do cancellations? I got an e-mail today and it looks like (at least for 3, 6, and 12 month subs) there will be an option to log in to your account and cancel online? And they’ve given a pretty clear cut-off date re: charges (cancel before the 15th to avoid getting that month’s box).

love love love this month’s box! i will use absolutely everything! i also got the anti-aging serum. so glad there was no lip gloss or nail polish! my favorite beauty box!

I just received my GB. Nice value. Can’t stand the smell or feel of the lotion. I’m happy about the Glam glow mask..never tried it. I got the Anti-aging serum..happy I got this one. The lip balm packaging looks so generic, but felt amazing on my lips. I haven’t tried the detailing mist, but it smells awful..I will give it a try and pray the smell goes away quickly.
All in all..not too bad. I can’t believe that this little products go for as much as they do. I have subscribed to a lot of boxes. I wanted to try as many as I could and eventually let go of the ones that don’t put a smile on my face. Only a few have met my expectations 100%… Meme Box, Fantasy Box, ELF, and the Blush Box.
The one thing that I kinda like about GB..is that they have some high end products that I normally wouldn’t purchase without trying first.
I’m still waiting on many more boxes for myself, my little girl, and several food boxes. I hope to reduce my monthly sub boxes to 10 a month… so hard to choose. I went as far as keeping track of the wow factor on a computerized chart. Lol…I need a life.

don’t feel bad! i keep an excel spreadsheet as to which i subscribe to, the login for the site, the cost, and the last date i received it. this way i can keep track of them all. i agree, it’s hard to choose. if i have a bad first box, it puts me off and i usually cancel right away. i have several on my “want” list right now.

Hi Ashley,

I saw you on Facebook on a post you had made for Glossybox I think. 🙂

I recognized the pic

Jill

I have an Excel spreadsheet too! 🙂

Sneaky Burrito

That sounds better than my system (save all the tracking e-mails and order receipts in a folder in my GMail and do a search to look for dates things were shipped, etc.).

Jenny

Haha ladies, and I thought just keeping a note in my phone was excessive! Well on the bright side, at least being organized and on top of things makes the addiction more acceptable to our spouses! Mine thinks I’m going to lose track because I have multiple emails.. lol

Crystal

I have been team GB for months. Last month I cancelled my subscription & was still charged for this month. It was right around the time the spoilers were released so I said, “Who cares” & contacted them & told them I would like to keep my subscription but I didn’t have any “Active Accounts” on my profile but didn’t want to sign up again for fear I would be charged double. Important to note I WANTED THEM TO CONTINUE MY SUB…like please take my $$$. I contacted [email protected] several times with no response. I called probably 20 times no one answers & & their “mailbox is full” so I can’t leave a VM. I have been corresponding with someone on Facebook & sent her screenshots of my profile, credit card statement, last shipping information & confirmation of cancellation & the last I heard was “She couldn’t find my account & is looking into it”. For the love of all the sub boxes in the land, I am beyond pissed. It would be different if I wanted to cancel & was complaining about them charging me (like I should have) but all I need is an active account on my profile. At this point if I don’t get this month’s box (no shipping info yet), even though I was charged it would not surprise me. I have been super nice & patient & have been trying to get this resolved since the first of the month & it is now the 22nd. So the final message I wrote is that if I don’t get someone to contact me I will just dispute the charges on my account with my bank & report them to the BBB. I have been nice, now this is just ridiculous!

Hello,

I just read your comment. I have an extra box. Please email me if you would like it. [email protected]

This is why I don’t think I will ever subscribe to Glossybox. It seems that they are still having billing and customer service issues although it does seem to be better than in the past. I like their collaborations and there are always interesting products in their box. Still my mindset is more of an “Amazon” mindset. I want my product with no issues and with good customer service 🙂

Glad that everyone enjoys their boxes. I enjoy reading the reviews and comments. I will live vicariously through the comments.

I love glossy box. Their packaging in so nice. I reuse their boxes around the house so much for nicknacks in the cabinets and such. At Christmas I wrapped their boxes to place presents in. I know it my seem silly but I’m kinda silly with the way I figure something is worth what I’m paying and their bi to me is worth a couple dollars.

This box is perfect for me! Love the skin care and hair care! I uses my freebie box to get another of these because I love the serum (has done wonders for my tone and scars) I just hope I don’t get two of the lip products cause I have a gajillion lip products…

Jennifer

The skin inc reminds me more of the old Mary Kay night serum.

Reply ButtonReply

Anne Shaw

That is the same Skin Inc. serum that was included in another sub box a few months back – it was a full size version and in a silver bottle and had the same blue and pink spheres in it. I think it was maybe in the Glossybox Mother’s Day box? I have been using it and its not bad, it doesn’t have a fragrance, which I like, and it goes on kind of thin, which I am not really used to for a serum, but so far I like it and it seems to work fine.

Liz had commented that she wasn’t sure how she felt about it because there was no ingredients list. I did research it on their website and its hard to tell what formula this is because this company does custom serums.

My box is shipping so I will get it this week – I am really happy about this box and cannot wait to get it. I have used the Phillip B. hair gel that came in one of the Net A Porter’s Special Edition Glossybox and really liked it even though the fragrance was weird (the smell fades quickly), so I am looking forward to trying this detangler.

Glamglow IS THE BEST! I got two of their different full size face masks over the holidays on a Black Friday special and they work immediate wonders. You don’t need a lot and its strong, but it works to make your skin soft, clear, and youthful. Perfect for an emergency! I am psyched to get essentially a travel size version. This stuff is expensive but a little goes a long way and it works wonders.

I really do like Glossybox. They have done a wonderful job an the box value is great on average. It’s just that I had hoped thus subscription would have a better mix of makeup, body/hair care, and face care items. It seems weighted a bit more toward skin care (face) as of late. For me, it’s just a little of a bummer.

Reply ButtonReply

Jane

That’s how I feel about Glossybox too. It feels luxe and it’s a really good value, but they haven’t been including a lot of products that excite me lately.

Reply ButtonReply

kitkatnef

I like it! Surprised I’m still waiting on mine too since they’ve been on time for awhile now. That stars n stripes box was a BIG let down for me tho!

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa H.

I was seriously considering dropping my GlossyBox subscription, but with this box, they may have just redeemed themselves. The only item I don’t see myself using would be the skin serum- depending on the formulation I end up with. And I can definitely swap that for something I really want.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

Melissa – I would be very interested in working out a trade with you for the serum if you decide that you don’t want to keep it. If interested, please email me at [email protected] and let me know what items you would be interested in or how much you would want for it. Thanks!

I love the Glam Glow, too! The mask is fantastic. The serum is pretty good, too. I don’t know what Orbitz is (though I did grow up just 90 miles south of you in north central WV) but I hope it didn’t taste like fave serum, lol. I personally like skincare themed boxes but there have been a lot of them in the year so far so I understand the negative feedback on the lack of makeup/tools. Maybe even a new kind of hairbrush or bath mitt would be a nice change of pace. All in all, a great box for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Sneaky Burrito

Orbitz had little balls of something solid(ish) distributed throughout the bottle. I could never bring myself to drink it.

Great Review – I have not gotten my box yet, should be any day. Even though I like skin and hair products, this box seems a bit boring to me. I wish they would have put a fun item in it, maybe a cool bath sponge and a fun shower gel. I don’t expect it to be a life style box but even beauty boxes should ad a fun beauty item on occasion,
