Birchbox July 2014 Spoilers – All New Products!

I got my July Birchbox yesterday. I think this was the earliest I have ever gotten mine! Even though I clicked on the link to choose my nail polish I didn’t get a nail polish or lip stain (thank God). I have to say though, this is the best Birchbox I’ve ever gotten (despite the disappointment of not getting the nail polish)!

I received:
Klorane dry shampoo
Naobay body radiance lotion
Sumita color contrast eyeliner in Raina
Vasanti detox purifying facial cleanser
100% Pure gingerade shower gel sample packets (these are pretty tiny but they are my “beauty extra”)

This is the first month I have actually gotten an entire box of stuff I will use (except maybe the eyeliner only b/c of the color).

I’m SO STOKED THAT ANOTHER BEAUTY PROTECTOR PRODUCT IS FEATURED THIS MONTH. THANKS TO BB, I AM IN DEEP LOVE WITH THE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER BUT ESPICIALLY THE PROTECT AND SPRAY BY BEAUTY PROTECTOR. I UDERSTAND SOME PEOPLE CAN’T USE IT BEACUSE IT HAS A STRONG SMELL, BUT IF YOU CAN THE SMELL IS LIKE CANDY HEAVEN. SO LONG STORY SHORT I HOPE I GET THE MASK. I WASN’T ABLE TO CHOSE AN OPTION FOIR MY BOX. THE FIRST TIME THEY SENT THE LINK-I CLINKED AND THERE WAS NO OPTION TO CHOOSE. NEXT TIME THEY SENT I CLICKED IT LIKE 2 MIN AFTER I RECIVED IT AND ALL THE COLORS WERE “SOLD OUT”. DOES THAT MEAN I DON’T GET A LIP STAIN OR POLISH IN MY BOX? DISAPPOINTED?

I’m seriously peeved at Birchbox right now. First off, they never sent me an e-mail with a link to choose a product (nailpolish or lip stain). Like never. Not in my spam folder, not late. They just didn’t send one (and yes, they have the right e-mail address on file for me).

So, I contacted their customer service. The lady responded quickly, allowed me to e-mail her my selection, and said in confirmation “you’re all set.” Those were her exact words. (Not “sorry, we’re out” or “I can’t do that.”)

So my box comes today. And it does not contain the requested product. But it DOES contain nail wraps. Ugh.

I’m going to wait and see how they respond to my customer service complaint about this, but I think I’m done with Birchbox. I’ll review my products, cash out my points on something, and not look back.

(I should say, I’m often not thrilled with the products they send. Have tried changing my profile to no avail. I get highly-scented body lotion EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Sometimes when I try to use it, it gives me a rash. I think this sub is just really not for me.)

On the plus side, I can justify keeping Julep now, sort of. It costs twice as much but I can pick stuff I know I will like.

I REALLY want the hair mask – I love that company – their products smell AMAZING. I had never used hair masks before I became a subscription box subber and I ADORE THEM!!!! It really chaps my hide when I get tanning products – I AM BLACK! Why would I need self tanner, tanning towels etc!!!!! The 3 minute mask would be nice also, I have been trying to decide whether to cancel Glossy Box for months now. I have been very unhappy with their products AND the sizes! For being one of the more expensive boxes ……. Lip Factory costs the same and is all make up and all full sizes! I also like Luna for You because they are also all full sizes and only $10 per month though the products are usually Drug Store. My Kandy box is also good for make up – all full sizes too and Boxy Charm. Ipsy cannot be beat either. Yeah I just typed myself into a decision – goodbye Glossy Box!

I liked the St. Tropez self- tanning moisturizer, I got it in my Ipsy bag in April. This sample is actually for face only, not for body, so it lasts long enough for quite a few applications. I thought the color was nice, not too light, not too dark, but dark enough. I hope I get another one in my birchbox! Will definitely get use out of it.

I would love to try the hair mask, or the eye cream. I have fair skin and like it that way so I would hate the tanning product. Also a little disappointed about picking my nail polish – I wanted Ambrosia but ended up with Relic. At least I got one! I went ahead and ordered Ambrosia – it looks beautiful on Rachel in the video.

TBH, I’m not honestly excited about any of these. I’d try the eye cream if it were sent, but anything else I might not even open. The pick-your-own samples were a bust for me, too – they only gave me the nail polish as an option, and even then, they were out of the only color I liked.

No self tanners! I am hoping for the Real Chemistry Luminous 3 minute peel. It mentions in the description that it helps reduces the appearance of rosacea. I did mark that I have rosacea on the survey when joining. I won’t be receiving my July box until later in the month because BB is sending out the June box this week to me. I signed up on the last day of the bonus points.

I too am pale as a ghost. My gradma always tells me I have gorgeous skin. Not that she is bias. She really speaks her mind. I always tell her I work really hard at it. I even got the ” professional ” spray tan once for vacation. It was orange too.

So glad I cancelled my Birchbox. Ipsy and Boxycharm are where it’s at. Love your site!

If they send fake tanned it needs to at least be big enough to get a full body application out of it :/

I was over this fad about a decade ago! The orange, the streaking, the SMELL.

I really hate self- tanners. I can remember Coppertone’s QT,LOL.

I’m really excited for this month! Looks like a great collection of products!! This looks like it will be the best box yet! We shall see 🙂

I just signed up for Birchbox after being with Ipsy for a year. I’m pretty excited about some of these items! I do NOT want the st tropez item, I got it in my ipsy bag a few months ago and promptly traded it. As a paler than pale lady, I have no use for a tanning item, especially for my face!
I think the 3 minute peel is what I most want!
