Sample Society

The Sample Society Mystery boxes have been restocked! (Thanks Britney for letting us know!) I didn't get to buy one last time before they sold out, so I think I need to jump on it this time! (If you've received your mystery box and recommend it let me know!)

I held out too long. What is the chance of them coming back in stock?

Just received my 10 boxes (purchased two 5pks). Received several duplicated items, which I expected. Almost like that better since the samples are so tiny. I get that it’s “sample” society but dang they are itty bitty! Not something I’d pay the $15 monthly but might keep my eyes peeled for these deals!

I finally went through all 10 of my boxes (52 items) and it was exactly what I predicted (based on stalking MUT). My son was at a Dermatology appt. today (first time) and he will need to use an oil free moisturizer and a sunscreen and cleansers in addition to what was prescribed – so I felt good that I could give him 1/3rd of the items I received. I have 20-ish items to list almost all are from June 2014 – my box plus 2 I got in the mystery boxes. Big thing now is I have 10 of those pretty SS boxes and a ton of shredded paper.. I wish I was crafty enough to come up with something – plus I have a stack of Birchbox boxes and Glossybox boxes.. geesh what do you guys do with these.. I feel wrong to toss (recycle) them.

Wow that Swap board is filling up FAST with Sample Society items!! I haven’t yet decided what I want to keep and what I want to swap. I imagine the fragrances and candles will be listed for certain and Pur-Lisse – I have maybe 6 tubes of that now including 2 full sized ones.

Either the boxes are out or the link is bad? It takes me to the general beauty bar search page with no box results. 🙁

I opened everything tonight and jeez was it a lot of stuff! One of the Stila lip glazes was broken and all sticky and I only got 19 out of the 20 boxes unfortunately. I called and they fixed it right away. But regardless of that, this was an amazing offer to get. I got some really amazing stuff. The oldest box I got was July 2013, the newest box I got was June 2014. I didnt even think to check the expiration dates which I will do tomorrow.

I would have gone for a 5-pk, but since they were all sold out when I tried to buy (again), I’m going to skip. I bought one 2-pk last time (and other stuff from soap.com to get free shipping), and it was an ok deal, but not great for $15 imo. I don’t think Sample Society is a good deal in general unless you actually use the discount coupon, and you don’t get a coupon in the mystery boxes. They are saying that big changes are coming this summer for SS… anyone know what that is about??

One month of SS was enough for me. I’ve had issues ordering from their other sites in the past. Plus, they don’t ship to PO boxes… This is an issue for me since I live in Florida, and I don’t want my products left outside to melt if I’m not home.

Anyway, I noticed the “changes” as I was cancelling my subscription. It looks like they’re updating the packaging, and now the monthly “gift cards” will be $10 off any $50 purchase instead of $15 off one of your sampled brands. This seems a little shady since you generally have to spend $50 to get free shipping.

Wow, so the big changes are changes for the worse… Looks like I’ll stay an ex-subscriber.

I got mine today. I did 5 boxes for $25 and I posted a pic on instagram (nmccord815 if you’re interested). It was a lot of stuff. Many of my boxes were from 2013. Not sure if any was dried out. I didn’t check yet. I was happy to get a sample of Sonia Drakar Flash facial cleanser. I wanted more Butter London polish, and got 1. I hate getting perfume samples and I got 2 of those. Oh well. It was really fun and I have lots of exfoliators, creams and moisturizers.

I just ordered C and E today of the five-set boxes and the contents seems to be different from what others have been getting, so I think today’s restock is a different set of boxes. Or maybe it’s all totally random! This is what my shipping notice said:

Sample Society April Kit C 1
Sample Society June Kit B 1
Sample Society July Kit G 1
Sample Society September Kit D 1
Sample Society April Kit G 1
Sample Society June Kit C 1
Sample Society July Kit F 1
Sample Society December Kit D 1
Sample Society April Kit E 1
Sample Society June Kit D 1

I also ordered the 5 packs of C and E today and I got the exact same 10 kits according to my shipping notice. I’m kinda wishing that I got more but when they arrive I’m sure I’ll think that I got more than enough. Hope they’re good!

I ordered enough to get free shipping – I think it was around $65 total – and they sent me 15 boxes! I was excited except I ordered all different sets yet got lots of repeat boxes. Also, some of the stuff was really old; some of the boxes are from Feb, March and April of 2013, so some of the face creams and masks and liquid things were dried out or expired. Not cool. Just beware that you are getting beauty supplies that are over a year old. That’s fine for a lot of the things they have in the boxes – but some of it just had to go in the trash.

I did not realize this was a second offer. I got in on the first offer a couple weeks ago. Two of my items were dried out. I emailed them and they said they could not resend but would give me a credit. You might try emailing them.

Sigh…I was too busy trying to figure out if I wanted to order one of the $25 that when I realized how great they are, they were sold out! Oh well, asked for it to notify me when they come back in stock (if they do) and I’ll make sure to grab one fast when they do. Such a great idea!

If you check out beauty bar’s facebook page people have posted pictures of what they received . I bought them last time…….Highly recommended.

On the fence about ordering…how often do they do these? I am fairly new to sub boxes, but have several different ones coming in the next few weeks, wondering if I should wait or jump on it??

BBTWITTER doesn’t seem to be working on these right now 🙁

Amanda

For me either. I think it was a glitch to begin with and they fixed it. I tried adding other things to the cart as well, and the code would work on the other items, just not the mystery boxes.

I just ordered the 2 for $15. Thanks for the tip!

I ordered the 5 of the $10 boxes thinking that had no more left (which the guy told me when I called last time.) I got mostly Jan and FEB 2014 boxes. I was happy with most of the samples because I use them, but I did get duplicate products.

Now, I did cave in here and bought 2 of the $25 boxes. I chose boxes A and B, so hopefully will get good samples.

I need to stop buying these. LOL

I bought 2 of the $25 boxes Sunday night – they are supposed to arrive tomorrow and weighs close to 11 pounds. I used a promo code BBTWITTER and my total was $37 – that is like 74 cents a sample!!

I got the 5 for $25 the first time. That was enough for me. I posted my list of products in one of the other threads on this topic. I did not get 24 different brands as promised but I only got one duplicated product (about 5 duplicated brands).

None of my samples looked too old to use, by visual inspection, although there was one anti-aging composition with snake venom that scared me a little and I can’t find it for sale online any longer. It will take me awhile to actually use everything I got. There was a full-sized Butter London polish in there (mine was sparkly blue and I love it).

If you subscribe to Sample Society, you’ll see a lot of familiar brands (Philosophy, Murad, etc.). Mine were all boxes from 2013, best I can tell.

Hi can you post a link to where you listed your samples? I did find great info on MUT where all of the 5/$25 kits were posted with a photo of each box. I was hoping for Alterna products (I know a lot of you are exhausted from seeing that brand but I just ‘met’ it with Glossybox and am enjoying trying them all out) and Dermalogica (I used to use them exclusively like 20 years ago but they are expensive so I’m hoping to sample my way back to them).

If I did things right, you should be able to click my screen name to get to the other post about SS mystery boxes. Then do control+F and look for “illume” since my comment is the only instance of that word on the page.

Stephanie

I ordered 4 sets of the $25 package which is basically 20 boxes, i may have gone overboard. They are actually arriving today. the box is over 21lbs!!!!
