Sample Society Mystery Boxes on Sale!

Sample Society

Sample Society is offering mystery boxes! These sold out, and are back in stock, but I'm guessing they will set out quickly again! (Thank you to Brandy and Monica for letting us know about these boxes!)

Mystery boxes

The $10 box includes 5 samples, and the $15 box includes 10 samples. (And there are several variations of each box). Are you grabbing any boxes? I'm pretty curious about these!

Where? All I see on everything is “sold out.”

Hmm, I ordered a $15 box and got it today. Inside the brown cardboard box there was an invoice telling me the two months that I got, but only one black box with five samples in it. Anyone know if this was a mistake, or will I get the other month’s box separately?

Jessica

The same thing happened to me, but they sent me an e-mail the day I received my package saying they mistakenly forgot to put the other box in there and were shipping it out asap! I assume the same thing happened to you, and if you haven’t reached out to them already I would do so!

That sounds like a mistake. I got the 5 for $25 deal and all 5 of mine were in the same package.

The mystery boxes sold out and came back again.

I received one of my mystery boxes yesterday & the total value of the box was about $50.00:) I just hope that the second box is just as good. It would make up for the June box being so basic:(

This is my first order from Beauty Bar/Sample Society. I ordered 2 $15.00 boxes and received August Kit A and D, February Kit B, and April Kit F. Each kit came in a small sturdy box which I am sure will be taken by the little guy to hold matchbox cars.

I received:
Aug Box 1
Korres Cherry Oil Lip Gloss Buff
Jane Iredale Purelash Lash Conditioner (I had no idea such a thing existed)
Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
Dr. T Supergoop City Sunscreen Serum SPF 30
Elemental Herbology Cell plumping Facial Hydrator SPF 8

August Box 2
Same as Box 1 except this time I received the Ahava Purifying Mud Musk instead of the Elemental Hydrator.

Feb Kit B
Curator card is not included because it is sent by email except I did not receive one. Maybe they don’t email them for mystery boxes.
Phtokeratin ultra repairing hair mask
Murad Intensive-C radiance peel
Murad Advanced Active Radiance Serum
Ahava Dead Sea concentrate moisture and radiance boosting serum
Bamboo 48 hour volume spray for hair (my hair does not need this LOL)

April Kit F
no curator card
Tatcha japanese beauty paper
Anemone Go be Lovely soy candle(love the smell)
H2O+ Micro-Collagen Moisturizer (this is why the should have the curator card for mystery boxes. I original thought they were advertizing that it had water before realizing it was a brand)
Butter London wink eye pencil Brown Sugar
Borghese Splendor Brightening Makeup (I do not understand this. It looks dark and says to blend over makeup. I am fair skin and can’t see how it will work.)

There are things that I want to try, but I am still not sure about subscribing.

It sounds like your last two kits were from this year, because they sound identical to kits I got with my regular subscription. (Also they stopped sending the cards sometime this year.) My kits all seem to have been from 2013 (fine by me, since I have gotten a box every month this year).

Mine (5 for $25) came today. UPS man was about 5 hours early!

I can’t say I’m disappointed at the amount of stuff I got for the price, but I did not get 24 different brands…

2x Illume candles (desert tulip and balsam/cedar)
2x Philosophy (hope in a jar and hope in a jar night)
2x Oscar Blandi (hair lift, just got 2 of the exact same item)
2x Stila (a lip gloss and a tinted moisturizer)
2x Murad (pore and line minimizing hydrator and AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser)
Borghese brightening makeup (have this from a SS box from last month)
Maya Water facial mist
Ouidad botanical boost moisture infusing and refreshing spray
Jane Iredale lip balm
417 hand moisturizer
IPKN New York SPF 45 BB cream (light)
L’Eau du Trente-Quarte eau de toilette
Phyto phytonectar oil
Aromachology clean and fresh fragrance sample
Immunocologie Treatment Creme VenoMax
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Shampoo
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
LaRocca Hibiscus cream cleanser
Exude Lip Creme
Butter London polish (full-sized, sparkly blue glitter!)

On the plus side, most of these things are new to me. I will use or try most (if not all) of them. I can’t seem to get away from Murad when it comes to Sample Society, although I don’t think I’ve gotten these specific products before. Thankfully the complexion-specific items are fair/light (although that would totally not work for everyone, it’s perfect for me).

And, after seeing pictures online of other people’s boxes, I’m totally glad that’s the nailpolish I got. I don’t have anything like it.

I want to try Philosophy Hope in a Jar! The nail polish sounds fun.

I use the word “totally” too often. I probably sound like someone half my age.

I was able to purchase two of the $25 sets (each w/ 5 past boxes)…I tried to purchase three but one was sold out when I went to check out. I received an email that night advising that one box was out of stock (just one out of the 10).

I am excited to receive my boxes tonight! Whatever I don’t use will go to my mother or be added to my swap board on pinterest.

I got my boxes today. I ordered two of the $15 boxes which translated to four of the past monthly boxes. Some of these were quite old which resulted in a problem with two of the items. I emailed them about a replacement and received a very prompt reply. While they cannot replace anything, they did initiate a satisfactory credit to my card.

I read this and decided to take a closer look at the email listing what is being shipped. Half of my order is products from last August! My box will be coming today. I am curious to see whether this will create problems in the quality of the products.

I received an email stating that my order had shipped and then, about an hour or so later, another email saying that they were so sorry but they could only send one of the two boxes I had ordered and they would refund half the amount I had paid. I ordered a 2 box deal. I was pretty mad and called them up and said that now it was NOT a very good deal as I still had to pay shipping. They agreed to refund my shipping cost also. I just don’t understand how they can sell something and then not have the merchandise after all. Very disappointed in SS now!

I ordered these yesterday 6/10 and they arrived today 6/11. I was pleasantly surprised!

So sad I missed out on the 5 for $25 option, but I got 3x$15 with Duo’s C,D,and E just because those were the only ones left, then added a small hair product to hit $49 free shipping… fingers crossed for some good products šŸ™‚

I went to purchase again, and got kicked out. I just ended up buying the $10 boxes with the BBTWITTER code. So frustrating, but I really like SS boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

LizM

Got one box today! It’s from Jan. 2014.
-Strivectin Present Perfect
-Butter London Nail Fertilizer
-Tocca Margaux
-Stilla Lipstick
-Orlane Lip Care

I already like the Orlane product and can’t wait to try the Butter London nail strengthener. I didn’t get this box in Jan., so it was a good one!

Cindy

Anna, How or why did you choose those particular boxes? Is there a clue to what is in them? Thanks.

Reply ButtonReply

PA Anna

No reason beyond picking the first and last box. Although now it doesn’t matter because my invoice says I ordered Box D and E. I had problems ordering on the website.

Reply ButtonReply

PA Anna

I’ve been thinking about trying this box. I purchased the $15.00 Boxes B and E. Right now the only beauty box that I buy is BeautyDNA. It might be nice to have samples.

I also had the bigger sizes in my cart this morning and they were gone. I even called them and they said that they didn’t have any more.

I just got an email that mine shipped already! That was fast!

Nicole

Wow! That was quick!

I just snagged 4 of the $15 boxes! Was able to enter a code to get $15 off my order, so not bad for $45!!

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

I am confused about the difference between the various letters identifying the boxes. Is that some clue about what is inside or just identifying different ones so someone doesn’t get all the same? Also, I don’t see on there that the $15 box has ten items. It looks to me like it’s five items in each box. What am I missing?

Sample Society is one I contemplated joining and thought this might be a good test.

Kristi

They are duo boxes.

“Indulge your curiosity – choose your Sample Society set from the options on the right. Each set features a unique assortment of previous months’ boxes, so no matter which one you choose, you’ll receive what’s best in beauty. Your set will contain 10 samples from at least 9 of these best-loved brands:”

Kristi

They still have several different options for the $15 box. “A” is sold out, but they have B, C, D & E. E doesn’t require extra days to deliver, so maybe it doesn’t have an aerosol can and is able to ship by air???

I don’t really want to spend $49 worth to get free shipping.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

$15 boxes are sold out. $10 boxes are plus $5.99 shipping. So for 5 samples for $15.99…doesn’t seem like that great of a deal.

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

Not all the $15 are gone if u click more options they have a bunch of other $15 ones to choose from

Reply ButtonReply

Erin S.

Nicole,
If you click the $15 link Liz has it brings you to a page with 5 different $15 options, I just bought two so I think they are still available!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Thank you Erin and Emily! I got my little hands on some of these. I got 2 $15 and 2 $10 boxes. Although I think I got two of the same $15 boxes. They were selling out as soon as I was putting them in my cart. Crazy!

Kate

Very curious about these!! I snagged a 5 box early this morning.

I got in on this in the morning when they still had the 5 for $25 thing going. Don’t know what in the world I’m going to do with 25 samples (probably all moisturizers considering my track record with Sample Society) but it was a pretty good deal!

I had 4 in my cart, but by the time I got to check out I only had two šŸ™
Didn’t want to pay shipping so I cancelled.
