POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review & $10 Coupon - June

Since this review was first published, POPSUGAR Must Have has upgraded to a $75-a-box quarterly subscription. They still send out their favorite products in beauty, home, fashion, food, etc., but now the boxes have a higher value, and the products and brands are more luxe. It's still a hit with MSA readers after the change, and was voted one of the Best Subscription Boxes for Women and one of the Best Splurge-Worthy Subscription Boxe s in the 2019 Subscription Box Awards!

If you are thinking of subscribing, I recommend reading my reviews of their current boxes first so you know what to expect.

POPSUGAR Must Have is my favorite subscription box for women. They always include a great mix of fashion, fitness, beauty and lifestyle items, the value is great, and it's just so fun to unbox! And I think the June 2014 box is one of the best ones I've seen from them in a while!

I love all hair ties, but these ones might be my favorite yet! I think they look like bracelets, and they are made with swimwear material so they won't stretch out.

You Smell Wet Wipes – Value $5

I'm happy to see that these wipes are free of parabens and phthalates. I was hoping for a more natural clean lemon scent, but I will definitely use these this summer!

Sachajuan Body Lotion in Shiny Citrus - Value $24

One Potato Two Potato Kettle Chips – Value $1.50

I wasn't sure how I would like this lotion since I am not digging the scent of the Sachajuan Ocean Mist in the Limited Edition summer box, but I love the spicy citrus scent of this lotion. It's very lightweight too - another perfect summer item!

FYI, this is a unique coupon code and cannot be stacked. There are some items under $15 on their site, but you have to pay shipping, so I won't be counting this toward the value of the box.

Verdict: I know I kept saying it through out the review, but I think this is a perfect box to kick off summer! (It's also the last box in 6-month subscriptions I gifted to a lot of people this holiday season, so I'm glad to see their last box is awesome!) This box has a value of about $98. Even though it's not a particularly high-value box from POPSUGAR, I think the curation is excellent and I'm very happy with the box.

So, Pop Sugar includes a book every month? If so, I may need to jump on board.

Not every month, but usually at least once a quarter. (They’ve included DIY books and recipe books in the past too).

I was so excited about this box! But my book was missing and the lotion cap had cracked so there was lotion all over the box. Luckily the other items were packaged in a way that the spilled lotion didn’t damage anything else. I’ve requested a book and a replacement lotion – I’ve never had to deal with their customer service and have been a subscriber for about 9 months. Hoping they come through for me. What a bummer, I was excited to dive into that book this week.

Is it OK for me to admit that after opening the box, I immediately tore into the chips before I really looked at anything else?

My copy of the book oddly had a “Signed Copy” sticker on it. I looked for a signature, didn’t see one, and contacted PS to ask if either the sticker was an error or if the lack of signature was an error. They said that the sticker was an error, and they were going to try to figure out why it was on there. It gives me the impression that my copy has been passed around a bit, but it looks to be in good shape.

I ordered the hair ties right away from lollies hair ties. $8 for 3 and free shipping. This box is too pricey for me but I love to see what’s inside and sometimes buy an item that I “must have” lol.

I love my June box and everything in it. I’ll read the book, have the wipes in my car, I’m constantly wearing ponytails and plan to use the towel as a wrap. Question for all you subscription box experts: with the coupons do you guys use these each month and cancel restart? Just curious how this works.

My package came today. I’m happy with everything except for the Lollie ties. Are they for children? There is no way I can use the ties to put my thick, wavy hair up in a ponytail. I’m disappointed because I like the concept of the ties looking nice on my wrist. Am I missing something in how to use them?

I like how the towel matched the book cover.

I’ve been enjoying my box. I think I will be purchasing a 3 month subscription in July or August. I started reading the book and hope to pick up football lingo that will impress my husband. I placed a couple wipes in my purse. I tried the lotion which at first seem to be strong, but after a few minutes smelled great. My towel is softer after washing it. I love it because it is versatile and makes a good lightweight blanket when reading to the little guy. I’m impressed with the quality of the Lollie ties because hairties snap if I stretch them too much. I still can’t wear them and will give them to my sister. The chips…well I have a growing teenager in my house. I did not even eat a crumb. He said they tasted good.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this lotion. I can’t stop smelling my arms 🙂 .
I am very happy with this entire box. I will not be swapping anything this time.
I was a bit surprised at how the towel feels. I was imagining it to be like the last Turkish Towel which is SUPER soft but this one is a bit rough. I’m sure it will soften after a wash or two.

I like the idea of a book but I feel it would only work as a pre-release. I’m sure they can obtain early copies of books. The way they do it now, I’m sure many people have already purchased the book either in print, audio, or kindle versions. I did.

I’m less enthusiastic about books in subscription boxes, in general. Taste in books is often quite specific and this isn’t the sort of thing I’d read. (I don’t really go for contemporary fiction.) Plus, they list the MSRP of the book when you can get the same hardcover on Amazon for $16.52, making the value of the box $11.48 less.

Hello! I got my box as well and I am happy with it except the Sachajuan lotion. I usually check the expiration dates on lotion, sunblock and on. And on the bottle that I received it said 2014 04. So I automatically assumed that mine expired and requested a replacement from Popsugar. The reply that I got was the date was the manufacturing date and not the expiration date. So, I am still skeptical and was wondering if you can tell me what date is on your Sachajuan lotion bottle. Thanks!

Interesting…I’ve never really thought to check the expiration dates on lotion. I did check my Sachajuan, and mine also has the 2014 04 date. I got curious and decided to check some of my other lotions. The only one that had a date was a Neutrogena facial moisturizer containing sunscreen. That date was clearly an expiration date, as it was marked EXP.

I think the only way to know for sure is to find a bottle of Sachajuan in a store, or to purchase one. If the date is anything after the current month, then we’ll know that they cannot be manufactured dates.

I got a bottle of Sachajuan hairspray in the last SE box, and I checked it for a date, but I didn’t see anything.

You’re right to be skeptical! Sounds like popsugar gets products other companies like to dump (like excess Turkish towels, nearly expired beauty products) and sells them to us at a premium. I subscribed for May with a 3 month sub but will not be re-purchasing

My bottle has the same date. The vitamins that I buy print the manufacturing date, not the expiration date, so it is possible PopSugar is correct.

My package came today and the bag of chips was covering everything. The only thing that is damaged is the book, grease stains all over the place.

I love everything in the box, but I don’t think I will get much use out of my Turkish T Towel. Does anyone want to buy it or swap it with me? It’s unopened 🙂

I’m really happy with this box! The only thing I intend on swapping is the Lori; I wasn’t totally in love with it. Otherwise, I think everything is useful! I did think it was word that they included a Turkish towel, since one was in the resort box. Kind of made me feel like, since it was a repeat item, it made it not as ‘luxurious’ for the people who ordered the resort box… Or, the subscribers of this regular June box got a great deal…

This thin June towel is no where near as luxurious as the one in the resort box. The one in the resort box is huge, softer & thicker. There is no comparison.

and what stinks about the native union is shipping is free over $49 and I wanted the portable charger which is $49.99 so it was free shipping. BUT after the voucher from PS it no longer qualified for free shipping. A lot of companies consider price before gift cards for free shipping but not this one. So I could get $15 off only to be charged $7 back for shipping. The charger is cute but not that nice. I can get a jackery charger for less on Amazon and the battery is 7x the capacity (800mAh vs 5600mAh). O-well it was a nice thought :(.

Same here. Perhaps all of the PS buyers already snapped up all of the cheap stuff. If that’s the case, perhaps they’ll get some more items back in stock. The GC doesn’t expire until the end of August. I didn’t see anything on the site to motivate me to spend beyond the value of the GC.
