Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Box

Monthly Express is a high-end luxury subscription box for women. It’s all about “ME time.”

Monthly Express kindly sent me this box for review purposes.

Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 First Look

Given that this box is $129 a month, I was expecting both the contents of the box and the packaging to be top-notch. At first look I was already very impressed with the presentation.

Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Calvin

Storm Fragrance Beads by Calvin Klein – Value $80

Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Scent

I had never heard of fragrance beads before – but apparently you spritz these cedar beads with the Storm fragrance and put them in any room you want to smell better! I was surprised by how much I liked this scent, and this item definitely feels very luxe!

Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Aloe

Key West Aloe Cucumber Under Eye Gel – Value $22

Porcelain Company Toilet Spray Travel Bottle – Value $12.95

I’m familiar with using aloe for sunburns, but I’ve never tried it on my skin as an everyday so I’m excited to try this under eye treatment. (It came in a box, but I removed the packaging for the picture).

Monthly Express Subscription Box Review - March 2014 Serum

Nourish & Replenish Oil – Value $33

Sense & Sensitivity Mineral Mist – Value $34

I love that both of these products are made with all organic ingredients! This serum is a facial moisturizer oil, but in my experience oils like this work great with hair, dry skin, cuticles, etc. I know I will use the entire bottle!

Both of these items smell amazing also – if you love the smell of the natural products in the Saffron Rouge Inner Circle box I think you would love these too!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $182. I think the value is good – considering the price of the box I was expecting the value to be north of $175. More importantly, I think the curation is great. All the products are new to me – and they all feel very high-end. Opening this box was definitely a treat for me! What do you think of Monthly Express?

  4. As a subscription box junkie I get both Birchbox and Monthly Express. It’s hard to even compare the two. Yes, Birchbox is $10 and I get little samples of hair/makeup/skin products (sometimes tea?), but with Monthly Express I feel like I’m building my collection of skin/beauty/luxury products that I wouldn’t ever think of buying or even know existed.

    • Do you feel you’re getting value with Monthly Express? One of the things I really like about Sub Boxes is the idea that I’m getting a bargain.

      • Definitely feel like I’m getting the value, but for me it’s different from other boxes because the products are really ones I never heard of and that intrigues me. And on top of that the products are all about relaxation… which I sure need!!

  5. Um, what? Toilet spray? Really? Is no one else thrown off by this?

    • I received this box too! And initially when I saw the “toilet spray” I thought it was funny but can I tell you this saved me the awkward and embarrassing moment when my (newly)boyfriend used the bathroom after me at my place. It blocks the odor AND makes it smell like roses.

      • i tried the bath room toilet spray it works . i was over the moon with this product . i spoke to Tavis and Tara at customer service and they made me very comftable right away not only did they explain this product to me and answered all my questions . the products are full sizes thats very imporant to me. to me the boxes are treat to my self new york city is stressful and i need a break and the box reminds me to take time out for self relax breath smile haha its well worth the month its a 10 in my book i will countine to buy this box the body butter black honey they sell is off the chain very very happy with this box xoxoxo dorothy

  6. Very nice but man, $129 is steep. That’s like ipsy, Bitchbox & Nina Garcia combined.
Maybe if I get a raise but I would need to see a few more boxes.

    • BIRCHBOX!! Sorry, the social media share bar at the bottom blocks the window sometimes so I can’t see what I’m typing.

      • ha ha I would absolutely sign up for a “Bitchbox”.

      • Count me in too! It should come in two versions, one to help you be a bigger one, and one to help you stop being one, depending on your mood or if you are gifting it.

      • LMAO. Agreed!!!

  7. Aloe is good as a moisturizer. I’ve tried some anti-aging serums with it. I think it helps keep fine lines around the eyes filled in. So it should work well in the eye product.
