Julep Maven Review & Coupon Code - March 2014 Box

Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription box. They make all their own products, so subscribers get a good value each month – over $40 retail worth of product for only $19.99 a month.

Each month Julep releases a new collection on the 20th, and you can decide which box you want, you can upgrade to the entire collection, or you can skip that month. (They recently changed their skip policy – If you’re a new subscriber, you earn a skip every 6 months).

This month I decided to go with the Boho Glam box!

The Cost: $19.99 a month (+$30-55 if you upgrade.)

Julep Maven Review & Coupon Code - March 2014 Polish

Julep Nail Color in Elisa - Value $14

Julep Nail Color in Harriet - Value $14

This coral shade of polish looks perfect for a summer pedicure! (And the lilac shade has a lovely subtle shimmer).

Julep Maven Review & Coupon Code - March 2014 Lip Gloss

Julep Lip Gloss in Awestruck - Value $20

For my lipgloss shade this month I decided to go with this sheer neutral shade, and I'm glad I did! It has just the right amount of shimmer for me, and I love that Julep lip glosses are paraben and sulfate free!

Julep always includes a little bonus gift each month - this month it's stick candy. (I'm not a big fan of the bonus item this month!)

Verdict: I paid $19.99 for this box and received about $48 worth of Julep products. I'm always happy with the value of my Julep boxes, and I'm proud of myself for not upgrading this month! (It's not like I have a nail polish shortage). Which Julep Maven box did you pick this month? Any upgrades or add-ons?

Liz:

I really enjoy reading your reviews 🙂

I just signed up for Julep and Saffron Rouge. So far Julep has been great. The boxes are good value and customer service is fantastic. I think I’m gonna really like Saffron Rouge. I’m more into healthy, natural, vegan, eco friendly, organic.

Can you recommend a box that has very similar great values??? , no more than $30, that either has healthy, natural, vegan, eco friendly, organic products ( yet no food products )???

………(I just signed up for Petit Vour box and Eco Elli box – yet I’m not sure if they will be as good of a value as Julep and Saffron Rouge) Which is more what I’m looking for. Yet based on the reviews I’ve seen I at least wanted to try them. I also am on the wait list for Ipsy )

Thank You

I just got my intro Julep box andf love the items. I wished that all of the boxes had a free box to “try out” for the first time! Does anyone know of any other boxes that do this?

I’m not sure why anyone would sub to a nail polish subscription if they don’t like nail polish?

.. because they thought they would able to skip the months they didn’t want. I like nail polish but I absolutely don’t need THAT MUCH polish. also bc julep is not *just* nail polish and markets itself as nails AND BEAUTY. lots of reasons. also, people are allowed to complain when they pay their hard earned money for something and don’t like it. america is cool like that.

Liz, you stated that this review is for the $55 upgrade but it looks like the basic box? I’m confused :/

Eek – copy and paste fail on my part! Thanks – Fixing it!

I chose the Boho Glam box; too. I chose the Enchanted watermelon gloss which looks beautiful on, btw. And I added Rae and Monaco on to my order because I really liked them. I love the quality of Julep’s products and they have great customer service.

I couldn’t resist, I upgraded to all of the polishes, such fun colors. Plus I added on Rae. I am not sure what I am going to do with all of this polish…I’ve been a subscriber for 9 months.

My lip gloss was broken and 2 of my 3 addons were missing…sigh.

There are definitely issues with the lipgloss containers. I have had 2 break on me. I took pictures and emailed Julep, and they are replacing them. But then of course there is no guarantee the new ones won’t break also :/

Finally heard back – they are replacing my lip gloss, shipping out the 2 polishes that were missing from my box, and added 750 Jules to my account for the hassle…at least they have decent customer service!

Jenna

Follow up on my previous comment, I just checked the Maven FAQs – anyone with a subscription prior to December 18, 2013 is grandfathered into the old terms, so the new skip terms are 1 time per 6 months. That seems kind of crazy.

I subscribed a the end of Dec. not realizing the new rule. Had planned to cancel after my second box since I couldn’t skip. When I called to do so, they offered to let me skip…

I have more than enough nail polish, so I took the Modern Beauty set with the lip care duo ( my lips are in sad shape after this brutal winter.) I added a Cleansing Oil, foot stick, and two extra polishes, but my Oil came leaked out all over the box. They’re supposed to be sending me a replacement.

I love their lipgloss! Kind of sad I picked the box w/o it!

I thought I had skipped this month, but since I am a new Maven, apparently I couldn’t. When I called to see what the charge for March was for, they told me I was only eligible for one skip in six months. I don’t like nail polish that much, so I cancelled my subscription. I would have kept the sub if I could skip the months I didn’t want. Bummer.

Unless something has recently changed, you should be able to skip as many times as you wish – I’ve had a subscription for just over a year, and I’ve only taken maybe 4 boxes out of that entire time. Whatever the customer service rep told you seems to be really off.

The new mavens can only skip twice a year. Kinda sad because I’ve literally only gotten 3 boxes my entire subscription.

Polished Portland

Yeah that is a bummer that they changed that, I don’t blame you for cancelling. I was lucky enough to get in right before they made that change (I think December was my first month), and so far I’ve skipped two boxes and bought two. It’s nice to have the option.
