Golden Tote Review – February 2014

I got my first Golden Tote and although this was a bit expensive for me, I love the quality – I got the $49 tote – my choice the Retro Chic Jersey in Coral XS and it fits perfect – love the fabric – my two surprises 1. a long t-shirt grey in the front and a floral silky back – very cute, again the fabric is so soft (ok I have only been shopping at Target for a very long time so this is all a huge treat) 2. a beautiful lacey bralette which is way small for me – I chose xs as my size and the dress and shirt fit but I am a full C cup so this does not fit – I feel funny gifting an intimate item, but think my daughter in law may fit in this. I don’t know how to tell them not to send bra or cami’s in xs as I would be a small in those? Also if you return do you have to pay for the return. I love the idea of this and am wanting to up my wardrobe but don’t know if I will do every month.

I love your reviews, in fact, reading your reviews got me to finally order from Golden Tote. However, I just received my tote ($149), and I have to say, I’m disappointed. I had seen on another site that the $149 totes would get a Priddy by Pruella dress, but I did not get one. Plus, except for the 2 items I chose, nothing else was my style. I got items no one else seemed to have received. So sad. I’m actually considering returning mine.

I finally got my totes yesterday and I’m very happy. I got both because, well I’m a cloths whore I guess. I loved it all except for the one item I really wanted which was the black and white knit check sweater/jacket. It was a one size fits all and you could put three of me in there so I id like to swap it if I can.
Can someone please direct me to the swap board?

I love Golden Tote and have gotten around 5 in the past, but this has been my least favorite tote. I noted in my profile that I don’t like maxi’s since I’m short and got a maxi skirt as a surprise item. I’m not a fan of the big tent dress (I got the same from the post). Again me being short, I just swim in it. I’m a bit disappointed overall. The tops I got are okay. All of the material for the items is a bit clingy and since I don’t have a perfect body, it’s not the most flattering type of material.

I loved everything I got on my 140$ Tote (it was my first time). However I got a long black skirt that I am not sure how to style. I was kind of hoping they would send styling cards for all the items and not only the boutique items. Do they usually publish pictures of the mystery items styled after totes have been received?

I got the $49 tote with the mint jersey tunic, which is definitely dress length on me (I’m only 5’2) which was nice! It definitely feels retro to me (thus the name, haha) but I’m not sure how I feel about it. I kind of wish I had gone for navy/white instead – mint might have been too bold for me! But I might feel differently once the spring comes and I can wear it sans tights. 🙂

I also got a long-sleeve striped Puella swing shirt. I had requested a long-sleeve Puella top in my notes so I was so happy to see them accommodate my request! It is pretty delicate, though – I wore it for the first time today, and it has several loose threads already. I’m fine with it for the price that I paid (I’ll just try to weave them back through) but if I had paid Anthropologie prices for this top, I’d be annoyed!

The scarf was pastel with light maroon and light green butterflies – cute, not quite my style, but I was really only expecting two items after ordering so I considered it a fun bonus!

I’m still happy with Golden Tote, especially compared to the prices of Stitch Fix. Shipping may be steep for the small tote, but $57 is still less than most Stitch Fix items, and I’m getting at least two pieces of clothing!

I ordered the $149 tote on the first day, and I haven’t received anything. I emailed them yesterday because it shows as “Processing”, but haven’t gotten an answer. Crappy first experience, since their FAQ says it should have shipped by 2/14.

I got a $149 and a $49 tote this month. Happy with everything (especially the mint green wrap sweater and the two jersey dresses) though the floral top is a little too dressy for me so it’s up for swap or sale. Here’s an album with pics! http://imgur.com/a/JQzWn

Do you have to pay more to keep the items [like stitch fix] or is the $49/$149 a set price?

This was my first tote and I have an issue if anyone can help! I did the $49 tote and chose the Retro Jersey Tunic. I got a Puella shirt and a scarf and my style card for the tunic was in my bag but not the actual item itself. Has anyone had this issue before? I’m kinda scared customer service won’t believe me!

Do you know if they sell the Renee C cardigan anywhere on their website? And also the leggings? I always assumed that the mystery items would be one of the items they sell their boutique so I didn’t buy one this month but your bag looks so amazing so I’m defintely regretting my decision.

This was my first tote so I got my feet wet with the $49 tote. I got the striped dress with leather pockets. I LOVE it. I was a bit concerned based on how it looked on the model that it wouldn’t be dressy enough for work (its so loose on her it looks like a beach coverup), but was pleasantly surprised it is fitted in all the right places when I put it on. My surprise items were the same green shrug you got and a really soft white scarf with baby blue and tan accent designs. I knew going in that the $49 tote only has 1-2 surprise items, and based on previous reviews ive seen there is usually only one surprise item, so I was thrilled about getting the scarf as well. All in all, very happy and looking forward to my next tote.

My boyfriend got me the $49 tote for Valentine’s Day and it finally came in! I got the striped dress with leather pockets, a Renee C open cardigan in grey, and a super cute mint blue scarf with maroonish bicycles on it. I am very impressed with all of the items. Luckily, I read lots of reviews where Goldentote gives accessory items (which I was anticipating) so I wasn’t disappointed when I found a scarf in my tote. I’m not much of a colorful scarf person but with spring rolling in, I might just have to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. (:

I picked the cream knit top and I love it! I also got the scarf and am sending it to my mom. I live in Phoenix and it’s already in the 80’s so it’s just too hot here for scarves. I lastly got the mint sweater and I can’t decide if I like it. I think it’s too big and I don’t think I’ll wear it. I might try again next month and see if I like GT enough

I was going to list my tote on the swap site, but everytime I go to log in it says my email address is not registered. I went back to my original swap email confirming I was off the swap list. What do I do?

I got the $49 tot and I got the cute dress with the pattern…I cannot remember the name of it now but I love it! I chose medium and the fabric is so nice! I also received a light weight off weight pullover type sweater with a cross over type neck by ReneeC in the same fabric as Luz’s mint sweater but it is in a large? But I am really disappointed in the fact I also got a scarf. I was expecting another piece of clothing. It is soft and striped but it’s a scarf?? Bummed. I’m emailing.

I’m really kind of confused to whether this is a win or not. I also got the fun and flirty top and it seems like the seam is pulled across the chest. My surprise is a pearl gray crossover light weight sweater, which I love. Then I received what I find is a very, very cheap light blue scarf. I thought that we didn’t get accessories so was very dismayed to find a cheap bland scarf. I know I bought the $49 bag, but I seriously was expecting to get 3 clothing items. Have you received scarves before or is this new? I truly feel mislead, but it may be my mistake to not have noticed accessories. BLAH…

I picked the dress with the leather pockets and I LOVE it. Actually it arrived today and I wore it tonight. Already received multiple compliments.

I also got the chevron top, pregnancy dress, leggings and under skies shirt. I’m sad the dress fits like a tent because I love the elbow patches and fabric. Maybe I’ll save it for when I’m actually pregnant someday. I also got the Fun & Flirty Top which I LOVE and another blousy top which I don’t LOVE but it will be a good shirt to wear for work tucked into a skirt.

I got a “9 months pregnant” Puella dress with my mystery tote. I was kind of disappointed with the fit, but hopefully if I add a belt like yours, it will look as cute! Great idea 🙂 My tote should be here tomorrow – can’t wait!!!

I got my first tote and loved it! I also received the Mint cardigan plus a crossover top, the dress which makes me look 9 months pregnant, the chevron top, the flirty cardigan, a cream blouse and a split neck top. Loved everything and already wearing the chevron top today under my suit

This was my first month. I got the $49 tote and picked the Fun & Flirty V neck top. The neck is a little weird at first (feels like a collar tucked under) and the fabric thin enough I have to wear a tank underneath, but I still like it (wearing it now actually). I got the same mint cardigan you got and also got a beautiful white shawl/scarf with tiny sequins stitched across it.

Overall, I’m pleased. I’m just happy they didn’t send me any dresses or bottoms, because I’m still an XL down below. The L tops fit great though (and maybe by next month’s tote I can start squeezing into L bottoms :P) I was worried about sizes, but based on this tote they seem to be in line with my other clothes for the most part.

I love everything you got! My boxes come on Thursday and I can’t wait! I picked the wrap cardigan in the dark blue/brown and the jersey dress in mint and coral – couldn’t resist getting a $149 and a $49 tote this time.
