Mantry Subscription Box Review - January 2014 Box

Mantry is a subscription box that describes itself as “the modern man’s pantry.” Each month they ship your gourmet food in their signature wooden crate.

Mantry kindly sent me this box to review.

Mantry Subscription Box Review - January 2014 Retox

The theme this month is Retox - instead of the typical detox themes of January, Mantry decided to send a box full of items made with booze!

Mantry Subscription Box Review - January 2014 Peanut Butter

Reginald's Homemade Lite Crunch Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter - Value $7

Dogfish Head Hard-Tack Chowder - Value $4

We toured the Dogfish Head brewery last summer, and that's when I learned they make amazing food as well! (They also had some gluten free beer -which was a nice surprise for me). My brother loves clam chowder, so this is going in his next college care package!

(Oh and this peanut butter is amazing - I don't think it lasted for more than two days after we opened it!)

Mantry Subscription Box Review - January 2014 Marshmallows

Wondermade Guinness Marshmallows - Value $8

Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup - Value $12

We've received both of these brands before in other boxes and they are fantastic - this ginger syrup went straight to our bar!

Mantry Subscription Box Review - January 2014 Popcorn

Olli Calabrese Salami - Value $14

Butter Scotch Green Chili Margarita Caramel Corn - Value $8

We're so excited to try this salami - all the meat products we've gotten from Mantry have been excellent!

Verdict: So far everything we've sampled in this box has been delicious - I think Mantry does a great job of curating high-quality food from makers across the US. I wouldn't recommend this box if you're looking for the best value for your money, (this box has a retail value of about $53), but I do think its a good box if you're looking to sample different artisan foods each month, and the wooden crate makes it a great gift too.

What do you think of the January Mantry box?

Products might be great, if you can get them! Ordered a Valentine’s gift on January 29. As of today (2/17), it has still not arrived. Communicated with customer service and, while they were courteous, they told me the gift would be delivered by 2/13. I won’t order from them again.
