GlossyBox Review - November 2013

After October's AMAZING GlossyBox, I knew the November box likely wouldn't be able to stack up, but I'm still very happy with this month's box! (If you aren't familiar with GlossyBox, it's a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box that sends out deluxe and full size products).

GlossyBox Review - November 2013

The Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 3-month, 6-month or annual subscription!)

The Products: Deluxe and full size beauty products.

Check out all of my GlossyBox reviews and the list of the best beauty and makeup subscription boxes!

GlossyBox Review - November 2013

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included for that month. This month's theme is holiday romance.

GlossyBox Review - November 2013

Emite Makeup Micronized Eye Shadow in Dams - FULL SIZE! Value $27

Nicka Angled Eye Shadow Brush - Value $5

GlossyBox recommends using this eyeshadow to achieve the perfect smokey eye. It's definitely not an everyday look for me, but I'm excited to give it a try. I also needed a new angled brush, so I was thrilled to find this Nicka brush in my GlossyBox!

GlossyBox Review - November 2013

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeliner & Shadow - FULL SIZE! Value $17

I LOVE eyeshadow sticks, and I don't have any in this color, so this item was another win for me!

GlossyBox Review - November 2013

The Aloe Source Jojoba Radiance Cleansing Polish - 1 oz Value $5

Mastey Color Protecting Leave-In Oil Treatment - 2 oz Value $25

I rarely get excited about cleanser, but this aloe one smells amazing, and I'm happy with the ingredient list too.

Verdict: This box isn't as exciting as the October GlossyBox for me, but it's still a great box. I'm very happy with the value, and I'll use everything in this box. I'll probably like this box even more once I get to try more of the products!

What did you think of the November GlossyBox?

I fell in love with the Aloe Source cleanser from this Glossybox, and finally got around to ordering the full size version. Aloe Source sent me so many samples and extras that at first I thought I’d gotten someone else’s order by mistake. They included one additional full size bonus product, four travel sized samples (about the size you’d get from Glossybox or Ipsy), and a handwritten note thanking me for my business and telling me to enjoy the extras. Great company! If anyone else liked this product from November’s Glossybox, I’d recommend ordering from them.

At least you got your Glossybox. Mine still hasn’t arrived for November!

This was my fifth glossy box and easily the worst so far. So bad it’s convinced me that I won’t be renewing my 6 month sub when it’s up next month.

The eyeshadow brush was all right. I could have done without black eyeshadow, but at least it was actual makeup. Instead of an eye pencil I got some smelly ginseng cream in a very small container.

The other two items were pretty small and I wasn’t impressed. Over the last 5 boxes this makes 2 wow boxes, 1 box that had a few winners that overcame the losers and 2 boxes I was not impressed with at all.

Yes, this was probably the worst Glossybox to date based on the previous boxes advertised on their site. I just signed up for it immediately prior to GB sending out their November boxes because I loved the products contained in October, September, August, and so forth, Glossybox boxes. Well, it sounds like the November one is a complete dud (and I prepaid for 6 months to save a buck!!). I got a hair oil (which I don’t use normally, but I think I might use it as a once a week treatment especially since it’s winter time and my hair will be dry), a facewash (which was probably my favorite thing in the box), a dual liner (black and lime green), and a eyeshadow brush (ahhhh, do I really need it?). I know I previously made statements that I can never have enough green eyeliners of any shade… I retract that statement. Lime green is not attractive on the eyes. We’ll see. Maybe I will change my opinion.

Then, I also got a black eyeshadow. Yes, I had to mention it separately, because technically I did not “get” the eyeshadow. The eyeshadow “got” all over my box. Yes, when I got the box, everything was covered in black eyeshadow particles. I had to wash all other products and in the process smeared my white blouse (I was at work when I got the box and I am OCD about getting everything cleaned ASAP). Needless to say, I was pretty bummed about the whole situation. I really hope that this was a one-time occurrence. I also hope there won’t be anymore black shadows in the box for me… :-/

I was so disappointed in this box! This was my first box since signing up for the subscription in Oct. Black eyeshadow is absolutely useless for me. I love a good smokey eye, but not with BLACK. I see nothing “luxurious” about the beauty products in this box. I’ll give it one more month and if it doesn’t live up to the hype, I’m out. I realize it’s a gamble with beauty boxes but I didn’t like any one product in my box.

This box was just ok for me. A bit disappointed. Nothing special or that I look forward to trying.

I was extremely disappointed with this box. I did not receive the eyeliner, but a tiny sample of ginseng face cream. In fact all the samples were tiny. I do not feel that this box was worth the subscription money at all. Hopefully, the next box will be good, otherwise I may consider switching to Allure Beautybar.

Disappointed as well. I also got the mini ginseng cream and tiny samples. I would think since it’s the holidays, you would get a better box or even an extra something in there, but it was a dud!

I thought this box was awful. On top of just being completely underwhelmed by the choices, my hair oil leaked everywhere. Not the greatest smell… I loved the last few boxes, so was really disappointed.

I also got the mini ginseng cream and was disappointed in this box. I really wish I’d gotten the eye crayon instead.

And _black_ eyeshadow? Both useless and common.

Instead of the eyeshadow/pencil I got a dual eye liner, with a brown and golden tan color. I’m actually really happy I got that and can’t wait to try it out. The golden tan color is really pretty when swatched on my hand.

I got the same as you @allcapsERINN! Very underwhelmed, especially since the last two months were so great. If I had gotten the Jelly Pong Pong I might have been a bit happier.

@allcapsERINN

UGH. I thought this was the worst box ever, right down there on the level of a bad Birchbox. My box didn’t have the Jelly Pong Pong. Instead it had a TEENY sample of Sulwhasoo ginseng cream.

I’m usually not one of those people to whine about beauty boxes, since I realize we take a risk by signing up for a surprise box, but there’s no way my box was worth $21 or more. Two hotel-room-sized samples, one microscopic sample, yet another generic eye shadow brush and BLACK eye shadow does not a happy subscriber make.

Okay, so I just wrote a HUGE response because I’ve been awake for 30+ hours straight but realized that @allcapsERIN really said it best!!

“Two hotel-room-sized samples, one microscopic sample, yet another generic eye shadow brush and BLACK eye shadow does not a happy subscriber make.

I do think if I receive another black eyeliner from a box I am going to have a panic attack as I am OVERLOADED with MORE than I think a whole teen-cheerleading squad could use in a whole school year!! (I have no idea where that metaphor came from as I am NOT nor was I ever a cheerleader NOR am I close to being a teenager nor even giving birth to any nor knowing any…..) I’m going to end up as one of those ebay make-up sellers putting together lots of things from the “reject pile” from their boxes.
