GlossyBox Review - October 2013

I think the October 2013 GlossyBox is my favorite GlossyBox ever! This month's box is a collaboration with Byrdie, and I hope GlossyBox does more collaborations in the future, because this box is amazing!

GlossyBox Review - October 2013

The Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 3-month, 6-month or annual subscription!)

The Products: Deluxe and full size beauty products.

Check out all of my GlossyBox reviews and the list of the best beauty and makeup subscription boxes!

GlossyBox Review - October 2013

Balance Me Shine On Tinted Lip Salve in Super Soft Beige - FULL SIZE! Value $16.50

Bulgari’s Eau Parfumée Au Thé Vert Eau de Cologne - 5 ml Value $5.75

I love this lipgloss - it's all natural, the formula isn't sticky at all, and the color is great too!

GlossyBox Review - October 2013

Tarte Lights Camera Flashes Mascara - FULL SIZE! Value $23

This mascara is formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, or synthetic fragrances. That's really hard to find in a mascara, and even better the formula is amazing. This is my new go-to mascara! (I also just love the gold faux snakeskin packaging!

GlossyBox Review - October 2013

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream - Travel Size .5 oz Value $12

Another product that's free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates! Plus this cream has a wonderful clean scent and gets great reviews on Sephora! I can't wait to try it!

GlossyBox Review - October 2013

Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask - Value $9

I believe this was the one varied item in the box - it was either this mask or the Renu Exfoliating Gel. I would have preferred the gel, but I'm going to give this mask a try!

Verdict: I already said it at the beginning of this review, but I LOVE this month's box! The value is great (nearly $70), and I love so many of the items! The mascara, lip gloss, and Fresh face cream are huge wins for me!

What did you think of the October GlossyBox? (FYI - If you sign up this week for GlossyBox you will still get this box!)

I have to say that GlossyBox keeps stepping up their game! I was over-the-moon thrilled with the September box, and again with this box! There were one or two items that weren’t for me, but the mascara and lip gloss made my day, making everything else in the box a bonus! I can’t wait to see what comes in the holiday box! I’ve tried many of the beauty boxes and Glossybox is by far the best! They also have awesome customer service! One month I was missing an item from my box that I was excited to try. I emailed Glossybox and they not only quickly shipped the missing item, but also a full size OPI nail polish in a purple sand shade. I wondered if they were psychic or just lucky as I am a polish addict and purple is my favorite color! If you are on the fence about trying Glossybox, go ahead and try them out!

Funny, I’ve had the exact opposite experience, my very first box in had something missing and the response was, sorry we can’t do anything about that.

I have been a subscriber to glossy box since Febuary and of course there is normally at least one item I’m not overly thrilled with but over all I love this box! I’m subscribed to a good bit of boxes and this is one of my favorites. My only problem is that here it is the end of the month and I still haven’t received my box. I checked on it this morning and it is finally shipping but this is getting ridiculous. Last months box didn’t arrive until the beginning of this month. I just hope they get back on track with these.

I am fairly disappointed at the moment (although that may change). I finally decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to a couple of boxes. I chose Glossybox and Sample Society. I subbed on the 11th of October and Sample Society showed that I was too late for October and my boxes would start in November. However, I was super excited that I was scheduled to get October’s Glossybox. I actually tried to keep away from most of the spoilers, but, at this point, most people have their box already and it was unavoidable. My box is still listed in the “pack” stage, which I find ridiculous.

I guess I’m disappointed that there is such a huge range of shipping times and I seem to be in the minority, having not received mine yet (or at least a shipping confirmation). I don’t get why Glossybox thinks it’s okay for people to receive an October box in November or why they’re happy to take your money in the beginning of the month only to not send out product until the beginning of the next month.

I really hope I’m so impressed when I see this in person that this won’t matter anymore, but I’m guessing I’ll just find a different box to sub to in exchange for this one.

Did anyone else get the extra mascara tip/brush with their mascara? What do we do with it? Are the tips/brushes interchangeable? It was inside of the paper/box that the mascara was in.

I was wondering the same thing! Thank you for asking!

If you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about you would use the extra mascara wand to separate your lashes. They sell packs of these just for that purpose. I feel that these separate my lashes beautifully, much better than the traditional lash comb/eyebrow brush combo and I’d choose the mascara wand brush any day.

I love Glossybox…I kind of went crazy with boxes since July. I’m paring things down…I am keeping Glossy, PopSugar, BeSpoke, some Mantry, Ipsy and some Ellie. If I ever get Yuzen, I might keep it too.

Otherwise no more for me. The fresh food ones were really nice but I could not get my schedule adjusted to fix everything before it went to waste. I may try them again next summer because the proportions and convenience were exceptional especially Plated and Blue Apron.

I just thought I’d let you know that I received an email from Yuzen saying that subscriptions are now available. I just checked their website and it does look like you can sign up.

I had been waiting months for Yuzen subscriptions to become available, so I thought I’d pass it on just in case others have been waiting a long time as well!

Thanks for letting us know!

I got mine in the mail today and I was excited to open it. It’s my first box and I split the cost/items in the box with a friend, which worked out perfectly. She particularly wanted the lip salve and exfoliating serum and I wanted the mascara and perfume; I ended up keeping the fresh cream as well. I intend to keep this subscription.

I got the same box. I like it, but I like the past two months better then this box.I have so many mascara samples. I like the mask and the face cream. The lipgloss is really nice too.

This is exactly what I got in mine and it is my favorite to date! I love everything in it! the mascara is amazing…ok really everything in this box was amazing!

I liked the last two months’ boxes better, but am happy with this one. I got a kick out of the mascara’s weird, gushy tube! I really prefer makeup to other things like moisturizer and exfoliator, etc. I have too many of those bitty samples!

If you like makeup over skincare, try Ipsy. I just cancelled my subscription to Ipsy because I got tired of getting makeup and nail polishes (I have 40 nail polishes between Birchbox and Ipsy and I won’t ever use them all before ghey go bad). Ha, I got mad at Ipsy because it was all makeup all the time, rather than skincare. I just did not realize that that was their specialty. Me, I just subscribed to Glossybox in addition to my Birchbox subscription, and I think I will be very happy with the balance 🙂

I really, really hope I got the Exfoliating Gel. Do you know if you get either the mask or the gel according to the settings you use on your beauty profile with them?
Either way, I can’t wait to receive my box! 🙂

How do you determine the price value? do you just do it based off of full sized products? (:

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Yep – I just look at the price per ounce of full size products. Hope that helps!

Wow!!! This box is making me want to sign up again!
