Ipsy September 2013 Review

If you're new to Ipsy, it's a monthly beauty and makeup subscription. Each month they send you 5 beauty samples based on your profile along with a makeup bag! I've been very impressed with Ipsy the last few months. Every bag I've received has included full size products along with deluxe size samples!

Ipsy September 2013 Review

The Box: Glam Bag by Ipsy

The Cost: $10 a month (free shipping)

The Products: Full size and samples of makeup and beauty products.

Check out all of my Ipsy reviews and the Beauty Subscription Box Directory!

Ipsy September 2013 Review

Each package comes with a card showing all the partners they worked with that month, and the exclusive discounts you can get on those brands at Ipsy.com. Looking at all the beauty brands for September, I think I lucked out on the items I got this month!

Ipsy September 2013 Review

NYX Eye Shadow in Morocco - FULL SIZE Value $4.50

Butter London Mini Nail Polish in LA MOSS - Value  $7.50

I love Butter London polish, and this red wine shade is perfect for fall! Plus, I just love nail polish minis!

Ipsy September 2013 Review

Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in Obsidian - FULL SIZE! Value $12

Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara - 4 ml Value $8

I have way too many eye liners right now, so even though I like the Starlooks brand, I'll probably end up gifting this eye liner so someone can actually use it this year!

Ipsy September 2013 Review

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple - FULL SIZE! Value $19

I've sampled Cailyn eye liners before and I really like the brand, so I was thrilled to see this tinted lip balm in my glam bag! I normally shy away from bright red lipsticks, but since this is a buildable tinted lip balm, I think I can make it work!

Verdict: I paid $10 for this box and received over $50 worth of make up products. I'm so happy with my Ipsy glam bag this month! I also love that I got 3 full size items, 2 deluxe size items, and all of the products are makeup! What did you get in your Ipsy bag this month?

I was really disappointed, I received a terrible pinky/taupe chalk looking lipstick, the eyeliner, a charcoal eyeshadow, under eye gels and mascara, well I have way enough mascara and eyeliner. It would’ve been nice to receive the lipgloss (which was a much better color) than the awful lipstick and the nail lacquer. You really can’t go wrong with nail polish. I finally decided to cancel since I found (for just $2.00 more) another subscription that caters better to my profile and I have been able to use everything from that box.

I got everything you did except the Butter London (I got paper face masks). I have been working my way up to red lipstick and wore the Cailyn stuff today and really liked it!

My bag came in yesterday. I got the Poppy color in the eye shadow. Meh, it’s ok, but would rather get the other colors mentioned. I do like the color of he Pop crayon, Rose Romance, and will be using that. Black eye liner pencil that I won’t use (I use liquid.) I can’t wait to try these eye gel pads. I think the best part of this box, is the too cute blue bag!

We got completely identical bags except I got a different eye shadow. I LOVE the nail polish, it was the only thing I was really excited for. I love Ipsy but I’ve been really iffy the past couple bags. The actual bag is definitely my favorite part.

GRRRRR – please for the love of God, no more shampoo, black eyeliners or mascara, Ipsy!

Sooooo bummed that – AS ALWAYS – I didn’t get Cailyn. I love that brand and I’ve been dying to try that lipgloss. I didn’t get Butter nail polish either. My bag had shampoo and conditioner, sparkly white eyeshadow (sigh), black eyeliner (for the 9 millionth time) and mascara (for the 9 millionth time).

It’s still an awesome bag considering it was only $10, though. I’ll give them that.

Meh…I just received my bag today. For the first time, I’m honestly disappointed. Ipsy has sent me eyeliner AND mascara in every bag since I subscribed (like 7 months) – and the thing is, I don’t wear eye makeup, and my profile reflects that. All I do have in my profile is lip stick, lip gloss nail polish, yet this month I received Eyeliner, Mascara, Eyeshadow, a nude colored lipstick, and 3 face masks. If it weren’t for the awesome little bags, I would cancel. I’m not sure what else to do to fix what they send me – I even retook the quiz…Man I would have loved that nail polish and lip balm.

I’m so annoyed I didn’t get the Butter London, because I keep getting eyeliner every month. And every time it is black. If it was different neat and experimental colors, I wouldn’t mind so much. But I love my black liquid liner and don’t care for black eyeliners sent to me month after month. I got the shampoo/conditioner bottles, bright white NYX shadow, the liner, and mascara.

I also love my liquid eye liner and going to get the black eye pencil. I have tons of pencils too. (That and lip balms.)

You got lucky with a Butter London! I haven’t got mine yet, but I’m pretty happy with what I see in my glam room. Looks like a good month.

No Butter mini for me. 🙁

This was my first month and I am disappointed. I will be receiving the John Frieda Shampoo and Conditioner which count as 2 items. I won’t use either and it took up an additional spot of another brand I would have loved to try. these were the only two items I was not interested in at all and I got stuck with them. My other variation item was the Starlooks Eye Pencil. I will stick out for a few months and hope it gets better, but not off on a good start.

Me too! Very disappointed now that I know some people got a lip balm and butter nail polish! I can’t even use this small shampoo/conditioner set as I have dyed my hair vivid colors and can only use Pravana shampoo if I want to keep my color for any amount of time. Will wait and see if next month’s is better. I love the mascara and eyeliner, and I definitely got my money’s worth, but I sure hate that I would up with the John Frieda products knowing what the alternatives were!

I got lip pop crayon that I already got in something else and a highlighter pencil instead of the nail polish and lip tint. This was my first bag. I had to wait 5 weeks or so seemed like forever

Kimberly

I got the nyx eye shadow in this awesome shimmery white as well as 3 face masks instead of the nail polish! PLUS i got an em cosmetics life palette sample. did you not get that in yours???

Ally @ Ambitious in LA

Seeing everyone else’s wait times is helpful. I have been sitting on the wait list for 5 weeks now. 🙁 It only took me four hours with Birhbox (plus like 8 days before my first box shipped). Even with Goodie, it was only like a 2-3 week wait.

I can’t wait to start getting Ipsy though! The bags looks much better than my last two BB.

I received an eyebrow pencil rather than the Butter London, may have to go buy some. My NYX eye shadow is called Velvet Suede, it’s very pretty. By the way I love your site and check it out several times a day, thanks.

I don’t have my bag yet, but I am NOT getting Butter London, which I have to admit makes me mad since I didn’t get the Urban Decay last month! I did go to Ulta today to get my 2 Butter London’s for $10 each.

I was debating if I was going to cancel or keep ipsy. This month helped me decide to keep it.

Eek! I want this but I’m on the waitlist. 🙁
Anyone know how long you usually sit there?

Melody

I was on the waitlist for about 6 weeks. It took about 9 weeks from the time I signed until the time I received my first bag.

LizM

I waited about a month too. September will be my first box/bag.

Erin

I was for about 30 days.

I also received eyeliner and mascara. I cannot have enough black eyeliner (especially with fall and winter coming up). The eyeshadow that I received was a yellow (golden poppy) and broken. They are sending a replacement. The email ststed that they cannot guarantee what color I would receive, so I’m hoping for a different color.  I also received the eye firming pads (2 pkgs) and the Pop crayon in Romantic Rose. The Pop crayon is way too light for me. The polish looks like a great color for Fall. I wished I received a bottle. Even though there were items I couldn’t use, the eyeliner was worth the $10 that I spent for the bag (so everything else is a bonus).

This is only my second bag and so far I’m impressed. Thanks for sharing all your reviews!!
