A few weeks ago I received an email from Birchbox asking me if I was interested in receiving the Nuance Salma Hayek Birchbox in addition to my regular Birchbox this month. This was an additional free box so of course I said yes! (FYI - I'm not sure how they selected who would get this box - only one of my two Birchbox accounts was eligible).

I'm happy to see that all of the items in this box are paraben free! Also, I think this eye-trio is my favorite item in the box. I love the champagne color, and highlighter stick is great!

Nuance Salma Hayek Mamey Fruit Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner (2 oz each) - Value $3 total

Since I have highlights, I avoid hair cair products with sulfates - so I won't be able to use these. I'll pass them along to a friend!

Verdict: I love that they included a product from every category in the Nuance beauty line: skincare, haircare, body, and cosmetics. It's definitely a great sampler box to see if the Nuance brand is right for you. And of course, I love that this box was free and had a $30 value! I loved this box!! The moisturizer is absolutely amazing, & I’ve been using the am/pm cream every day–it’s nice & light. I, too, passed the sulfate-containing shampoo/conditioner onto a friend…all in all, super happy with this box!!

Just a heads-up to anyone who liked the products. I’ve been to two CVS stores looking to the makeup and body creams. Most stores only carry the face line (cleansers, serums, moisturizers) and the hair care products. I was told a both that only ‘busier’ stores received the full product line, and told to try three other locations.

However, all the Nuance products are buy one, get one 50% off right now.

I received this box in the mail today! 5/18 I was really suprised to see so many different things in there! There are many times that I am unhappy when I first receive my box. After a month or two I will use some of the products I thought I didn’t like and in turn end up liking them. I am thoroughly enjoying my subscription to birchbox. The quality of the items are always better! Thank You for all of your posts! Enjoy finding good deals and new products!

Mine just arrived today, and I’m super excited about it. I got the bronze/gold eye trio, and I wish I’d gotten the champagne or pewter instead, but only because I have a Benefit cream shadow in the exact shade. The body cream is awesome, I love the scent, and how awesome is it that they sent full-size?

I’ve been a little ambivalent about Birchbox. I’ve been a subscriber for two months, and only used half the products each time. I don’t like that both my boxes had perfume, which irritates my allergies. But this is really turning me around, how awesome to get an extra box with two full-size products to try out! I’m not cancelling just yet!

I do agree with the other commenter that I prefer Ipsy, although Ipsy was awful this month for me. All the products except one were against my answers on the beauty quiz, plus my nail polish was broken and leaked all over everything. But, they’re sending me a whole new bag, so they’re still my favorite.

I got the email asking if I wanted one – YES!!! Sadly, I guess I am not getting one. Did you get an email confirmation it was coming? It looks great! I was excited to try this reasonably priced high quality sounding line!

I got one too! My tri was a different color- blue and smoky. I LOVE that it has a shadow, highlighter and liner! I can never have too many highlighters!

I heard about this Salma Hayek Birchbox abot three weeks ago, andI emailed Birchbox about how to recieve it. Their canned answer, as always, was “based on beauty profile”. I keep mine updated and mine fits the Salma Hayek box exactly and I’ve had my BB sub for almost 2 years. So I don’t know how Birchbox picks their stuff either. My guess is it’s random? It bugs me that Birchbox does this stuff though and then they always give the “beauty profile” excuse.

Here’s a copy of BB’s response dated May 6th, to my request for info on how to recieve the Salma Hayek box:

The Nuance Salma Hayek collection is available exclusively at CVS/pharmacy and is a free offering to our subscribers sponsored by CVS/pharmacy. They targeted customers who were a good fit for this offering based on preferences chosen in the Beauty Profile.

We are always working to bring different brands to our customers, and we work to tailor the offerings to our customers. We don’t have immediate plans to do another special targeted box, but we may have special items coming in future Birchboxes. Keeping your beauty profile updated will help us know about your preferences, so we can target offers appropriately.

I cancelled my subscription in April! Darn it! No clue if I would have been eligible anyway, looks like and awesome freebie!

They don’t even use the profile, it’s such a lie and I’m sick of hearing it as their answer to everything! My boxes clearly do not match my profile month after month. Ipsy is a much better value and they have full sized products for the same $10 a month. Sick of the sample packets from Birchbox which should be free not $10 a month.

Wendy I agree! That’s why I cancelled Birchbox, and switched to Ipsy!! If you go to my blog I have a review on my Ipsy Glam bag, and I state that I recently switched services. I think Birchbox was kind of a waste of my $10. Ipsy is SO MUCH better!
