Allure Fall Beauty Box Review – July 2012 – Unboxing!
Wow! I was not expecting to receive this box so quickly! I’ve always been very happy with Allure Beauty Boxes in the past, and this box is no exception!
The Box: Allure Fall Beauty Box (not a typical subscription, usually just one available in the summer and one in the fall).
The Cost: $39.99 plus $10 shipping for over $250 worth of product
The Products: Full size drugstore products and some full size higher end products.
Redken Smooth Lock Stay Sleek – Value $17
This leave-in cream provides durable frizz control and intensive smoothing for up to three shampoos. (It says safe for color-treated hair, but it also lists methosulfate as an ingredient so I won’t be using this product)
Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Texture & Volume Spray – Value $16
Love the smell of this product. It adds tousled, undone texture and body. If it’s anything like the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo, I know I’ll love it!
Aveeno Natural Protection Sunblock Lotion with SPF 30 – Value $8.79
I love getting SPF in any subscription boxes, because I know it will always get used. This sunscreen is fragrance-free, waterproof, and made for sensitive skin.
Biomega Firm and Fabulous Hairspray – Value $16
This hairspray has excellent reviews on Amazon. It holds hair without getting sticky or hard to brush. Added bonus: UV protection!
Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream – Value $18
Smells soo clean and fresh! It also is clinically proven to provide intense hydration that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. (99% natural)
GK Hair Serum – Value $18.75
Fights frizz, tames flyaways, delivers shine, and seals the hair and protects from dehydration.
Colorescience Primers – Value $42.75
This primer has a built in SPF 20, and also fills in lines and wrinkles. This is one of my favorite items in the box. It’s tinted, and thicker than most primers which results in a super smooth base for your foundation. So happy to discover this product!
Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash – Value $26
After reading the reviews on Amazon, it seems like this product is great for keeping skin clear and exfoliated.
Eclos Anti Aging Skin Care Starter Kit – Value $29.95
The kit includes: facial cleanser, facial scrub, regenerative cream, face serum, eye cream, clay mask, and a bonus headband.
John Frieda Clear Shine Luminous Glaze – Value $8
I’m so excited to try this! You can use it every day in the shower by letting it set for 3 minutes, or weekly and let it set for 20 min. Best part of this product for me: it’s safe for color treated hair (Sulfate free).
Lipton Tea and Honey Packets (10) – Value $4
Allergen warning – these contain soy.
Zappos $15 coupon – I was so glad to see this coupon has no minimum purchase requirements. It’s essentially a $15 gift card.
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Dolly – Value $18
I have this in another shade and really like it. (It’s not too sticky like some plumping lip glosses can be). My only concern as I was reading the ingredient list is that there are 7 artificial dyes in this product. I wish they would have used natural coloring alternatives.
NYX Stick Blush in Tea Rose – Value $8
(Formaldehyde, DBP & Toluene Free)
I’ll be adding this to my morning routine before using a blow dryer or a hair straightener as it provides heat protection in addition to smoothing hair. (Safe for color treated hair!)
Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser – Value $ 4.50
Jergens Daily Moisture Dry Skin Moisturizer – Value $5
(Contains sulfate – I don’t recommend this product if you have color treated hair)
Verdict – This is still one of the best boxes out there in terms of value and quantity! I paid about $50 and received over $300 worth of product.
