Yitty vs. Shapermint: Which Shapewear Will You Want to Wear All Day Long?

If you’re a mom, I’m sure you understand my love-hate relationship with shapewear. While it helps me feel confident enough to rock some of my outfits without feeling self-conscious about my mommy pouch (just a personal insecurity that I feel best without), most shapewear is too constricting, slides down, or doesn’t work with every outfit. That’s why every shapewear I buy needs to be comfortable, breathable, and versatile.

Enter the brands Yitty — which was reinvented and elevated by Lizzo — and Shapermint. On the outside, they offered the same styles of shapewear and looked like something I’d feel comfortable wearing almost every day, but here’s how both brands checked out when I actually tried them:

If you’re looking for a wide range of styles and colors… Yitty

One of the first things that stood out the most to me about Yitty was the wide range of styles and colors. When you first sign up for their membership or simply log on to their website, you’re prompted to take a quiz that will determine the best styles for you; pretty prints, bold colors, neutrals, or blacks. Their innovative fabrics, bold colors, and stylish silhouettes fit every single body type out there. Plus, as a member, you get early access to new drops every time a new print or color is released. Although Shapermint has a similarly wide range of styles, their colors are a little boring and predictable.

If you’re looking for size inclusivity… Yitty

When I first ordered Yitty and received Lizzo’s signature items, I was extremely confused because the pieces were tiny. I thought it was either a joke or they must have made a mistake. Nonetheless, I tried them on, and let me tell you, they fit like a glove. Not only is the elasticity in the material amazing, but the comfort is even better. I honestly don't feel like I have anything on when wearing it. And pretty much everyone will have the chance to feel this way since Yitty proved to be more size-inclusive than Shapermint. With Yitty, you can purchase up to 6X while with Shapermint, you only get up to 4XL. Big girls also want to feel gorgeous in their own skin!

If you’re looking for basic pieces… Shapermint

When you shop at Yitty, you can buy anything from leggings and lounge sets to shapewear. With Shapermint, what you see is what you get: undergarments, shapewear, and some bathing suits. All of their pieces come in very neutral colors, such as black, white, beige, and blue. This means that you don’t have to worry about your shapewear being noticeable under your white dress or light-colored tops. And although Yitty offers the same, you’ll need to sort through the loud colors to get to what you want, or the style you actually like may only come with designs. Sometimes easy and simple is better.

If you’re looking for a better bang for your buck… Yitty

Yitty and Shapermint come head-to-head when it comes to how much their pieces cost. They both have subscriptions that offer their items at a special discount, however, Yitty is a better bang for your buck. When you become a new VIP member, you can get any two pieces of shorts and bras for $24 and panties starting at $8. Once you’re a member, all Yitty shapewear (plus Fabletics) will be 20-50% off plus reward points for additional discounts. Even better? You get free shipping and returns, and you can skip at any time to avoid paying the membership cost. If you do decide to skip (which I don’t think you will), you can still shop and enjoy the perks of being a member.

My choice… Yitty

As someone who mainly wears shapewear under their clothes at all times, Yitty is the obvious winner. Not only is it comfortable enough for me to wear every day, it comes in a wide range of colors, designs and sizes. On top of that, I’m not subjected to just shapewear. If I want to venture into trying their loungewear, I know they’ll be equally as comfortable. It’s also super affordable so honestly, what are you waiting for?
