What to Look For in Skin Care Products When the Options Seem Overwhelming

There was a time when I considered myself a skincare expert familiar with pretty much every brand and product on the market. I integrated Korean and Japanese beauty products into my routine before they made it to North America. I followed r/SkincareAddiction and r/AsianBeauty religiously. In the evening, I had a 5-step process that became a 6-step process that became a 7-step process. I knew where to look for French drugstore gems when I found myself in Paris for a weekend.

Even for a self-proclaimed expert like me, the skincare options are simply overwhelming. It seems like something new hits the market every week and between word-of-mouth, social media, and good ol’ billboards, we are bombarded by promises of flawless skin if we only just tried [insert product here]. Fast forward to one night when I was binge-watching Shark Tank, PROVEN piqued my interest, promising science-backed, custom formulas. In an effort to simplify my skincare, you can bet I added PROVEN to my cart fast. Here’s what to look for in skincare products when the options are overwhelming, and why PROVEN hits all the marks:

1). Personalized formulas

PROVEN cuts out all the noise with a simple 3-minute PROVEN Skin Genome Quiz that formulates a moisturizer, cleanser, and night cream. It takes into consideration skin concerns, lifestyle, and the environment you live in to create personalized formulas. PROVEN is backed by science and gives your skin everything it needs to see results. When I started my PROVEN journey, I was even encouraged to take a photo of myself under natural light with no makeup on so that I could compare my skin before and after.

2). Simple, straightforward routines

The other thing I love about PROVEN is that it cuts down my routine to 3 products. My moisturizer already comes with SPF, so I don’t have to worry about applying sunscreen beforehand (or how it will interact with my moisturizer - some combinations will create a pilly mess). In the evening, I don’t have to layer on serums ahead of my night cream because PROVEN’s custom formula for me already includes the two serums that I would have used.

Not only does it free up space on my counter, I can actually expect to stick to this routine rather than purchasing a dozen products that all end up abandoned after a few weeks–because who really has the time for a 7-step process these days? I think whoever invented the 7-step process either has a bit of a dull social life or at the very least, does not have kids. At the end of the day, using 3 products consistently will beat sporadically using 5 or 6 or 7 products - some of which may have expired by the time you remember to work it back into your routine.

3). All-natural ingredients

Unlike another customized skincare subscription product I’ve tried, PROVEN uses all-natural ingredients. I feel pretty confident that I don’t have to ease my way into it like I do with products that contain harsh ingredients like tretinoin. I’m also reasonably sure that if I choose to have another child, I won’t have to switch to a drastically different skincare regimen since ingredients like tretinoin are not recommended during pregnancy.

My thoughts on PROVEN

For better or worse, the days of my 7-step skincare routine are long behind me. Not only do I not have the time that I did ten years ago, the number of skincare brands and products available today have made it near impossible to keep up. Enter PROVEN: my skincare routine is now the most effective (and simplest) it’s ever been. Now that you know what to look for in your skincare, give PROVEN a try!
