Who founded Blue Apron?

Blue Apron was co-founded by Matt Wadiak, Matt Salzberg, and Ilia Papas in August 2012. This New York based start up started with a deep love and passion for food.  Salzberg and Papas left their jobs to create Blue Apron and started experimenting with different ideas. Wadiak, a family friend and wholesaler of truffles and avocados, joined the gang as Blue Apron’s resident food expert and COO making the team complete.

Creating relationships with local farmers, the company began accumulating recipes for people who wanted to find an easy way to make dinner. These perfectly portioned ingredients could then be delivered within 24 hours for a fresh meal. Starting in a commercial kitchen in Long Island City, the company began growing and became the first U.S. meal-kit company to go public in June 2017.

Why the name Blue Apron?
