As a fitness professional, boosting my performance is pretty much always on my mind. I eat healthy and make sure I get my macros in, but an untapped area for me? Supplements in my coffee. For me, optimizing my workouts means paying closer attention to what I’m putting in my coffee in the morning, too.
But I’m not a golfer, I’m a fitness professional. So when I heard that pro golfer Phil Mickelson and his performance coach, Dave Phillips, had created health and wellness products under the brand name “For Wellness,” I wasn’t quite sure what to think. I mean, I can appreciate that Mickelson is a golf legend, but what does a golfer know about supplements?
Still, I know how passionate I am in my quest to find the best coffee supplement, so if Mickelson and Phillips had something worth trying, I wanted to know about it. And I have to say, I’m pretty impressed.
When I finally picked up some of The Good Stuff, the label said all the right things. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, preservative-free, and contains no GMOs. I was pretty pleased about that since I’ve been trying to cut down on artificial creamers and dairy products. When I scooped some of The Good Stuff into my coffee, it mixed well, but I feared that a terrible taste was waiting for me (I’m looking at you, greens blends).
I grimaced a little in anticipation, but you know what? Pretty good! A tentative second sip turned into a full taste, and I was hooked. It tastes slightly of cinnamon, which makes sense because it contains Ceylon cinnamon! Cinnamon is a natural antioxidant, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory substance–and ensures that The Good Stuff actually tastes good in addition to being good for you.
The Good Stuff also contains:
- C8 MCT Oil: the most ketogenic MCT (medium-chain triglyceride), which is a healthy fat found in coconut oil. It boosts your metabolism, boosts energy and endurance, and supports mental focus and clarity.
- Collagen: collagen is great for skin, hair, bones, and muscles. Not only can it help with joint mobility, but it can also reduce inflammation throughout the body. Another added benefit is that it helps build strength and muscle mass.
- L-Theanine: this is an amino acid that comes from green tea. It smooths out the effects of caffeine and is said to boost brain chemicals that are calming, which makes it great for stress.
- Himalayan Pink Salt: not only does the salt cut the acidity in coffee, but it can also promote hydration by helping you keep a good fluid balance.
How I Feel
Coffee is a great way to start the day, but I feel like The Good Stuff from For Wellness is a supercharger. I get a nice energy boost, and I’ve started noticing that I’m more focused when I’ve had my scoop of goodness. Also, my joints feel better throughout the day.
Coffee can make my stomach hurt if I’m not too careful, but it seems like the Himalayan pink salt does its job well! My cups of coffee these days are smoother when I add The Good Stuff to them, and my stomach stays untroubled every time.
I must apologize to Phil and Dave – they’ve created a pretty great product. For Wellness’ The Good Stuff is just what it says it is: good. Not only does it taste delicious, but I love knowing that I can add it to my coffees, smoothies, oatmeal – you name it – to give me the energy, focus, and overall great feeling that I can build my day on.
