This Mushroom “Coffee” is Going Viral. Here’s Why People Are Trying It (And Why You Should Too)

There's a buzz on the internet, and that buzz is all about MUD\WTR.

The TikTok famous beverage claims to be a better, healthier alternative to coffee that promotes focus and energy, without any jitters or negative impacts on your sleep. As a self-proclaimed coffee lover, I was skeptical (I mean, who wants to be drinking muddy water?). That is, until I gave in, googled MUD\WTR, and came across the 25,000 5-star reviews.

Like many, I couldn't imagine starting my day without that robust kick of caffeine. But as the years went by, I started to notice the toll it took on my body. The jitters, the crashes, the feeling of dependency—it all became too much. I knew I needed a change, and given that so many others had found benefits with MUD\WTR, I decided to take the plunge.

Enter MUD\WTR

So what is MUD\WTR any way? Well, it's essentially a coffee "dupe" that has a fraction of the amount of caffeine as a cup of joe. It's made from a base of cacao and chai, and a unique blend of mushrooms, like Lion's mane, chaga, and reishi. While I wasn't immediately thrilled with the idea of drinking mushrooms, I was pleased to see that the blend is 100% organic and sugar free.

In terms of cost, MUD\WTR offers a 30-day supply of product for $40. I was initially a bit hesitant to spend that much money on my morning brew, but when I broke it down to price per cup, $1.33 for each cup is a steal (especially when I think about those $6 lattes I've been indulging in).

Making the Perfect Cup

To make a cup, all you have to do is take a tablespoon of MUD\WTR and add hot water. I really liked the simplicity of making the beverage, since it doesn't require any fancy coffee-making gadgets.

In terms of taste, this coffee "dupe" has a unique flavor profile that does take some time getting used to. And I put "dupe" in quotations because the taste isn't anything like coffee. Instead, MUD\WTR has a very earthy taste, with hints of cinnamon and ginger that come through. After 1-2 cups, I found myself craving the subtly nutty taste every morning.

Like coffee, you can customize your drink and add any sweeteners or creamers you'd like. I personally added a dash of honey which provided an extra touch of sweetness I found myself craving.  The package does come with a sample of MUD\WTR's very own coconut creamer, which I opted out of, but is a nice option for those used to a creamy beverage in the morning. Not only that, but a free frother was also included in the package, which I had never used before but found to be really helpful in creating a well-blended drink.

The Results Are In...And I was Shocked

The first time I took a sip of MUD\WTR, something clicked. The energy rush I felt was invigorating, yet remarkably different from coffee. No jitters, no sudden crashes. Just sustained, focused energy that kept me going all day long.

I noticed I was able to focus a lot more during work because I didn't feel hyper or borderline anxious, which were common side effects I was facing with coffee. I can also enjoy a cup of MUD\WTR later in the afternoon to get another boost of clean energy, without worrying about it keeping me up at night.

This may sound hyperbolic, but I’ve got to say it: MUD\WTR really changed my life. I know, I know. But here’s the thing: coffee may have felt good, but it wasn’t doing me any good.

So Long, Coffee

Now, I won't pretend that MUD\WTR is a miracle potion. We all have unique preferences and reactions to different beverages. But if you're seeking a healthier, more balanced lifestyle without compromising on taste or energy, I wholeheartedly recommend giving MUD\WTR a chance.

Since embarking on this muddy journey, I’m in a much better situation. I am happy, full of energy and haven’t had the jitters in who knows how long. I still see coffee from time to time. I say hi.

But, sometimes you have to realize that the hype really is real.
