The Top 3 Diet Swaps I Made To Crush My Wellness Goals

My wellness goals feel more attainable than ever!

If you're anything like me, the idea of a restrictive diet has always been a bit of a buzzkill. But when my sweet husband, Joe, set off on a journey to better health, it inspired me to make some changes of my own. And guess what? Thanks to some smart diet swaps, I've managed to shed 8 pounds, 3% body fat, and kiss those extra BMI points goodbye—all without bidding farewell to my beloved comfort foods!

Without further ado, here are my 3 top diet swaps that made the biggest difference for me:

1. French toast made with Hero Seeded Bread 🍞

I’m a major fan of breakfast foods, and one of the hardest meals I have trouble swapping is the very first. When it comes to breakfast, I truly want it all: pancakes covered in syrup, fluffy french toast dusted in sugar, and omelets stuffed with bacon and cheese.

In an effort to save breakfast, I ventured into the world of low-carb bread alternatives for the first time back in 2001. But I was consistently met with disappointingly dense, chalky textures, and a total absence of the joy that bread should bring—even when I doused it in egg and fried it in a pan. Let's face it, if something doesn't taste good, who wants it? Especially french toast!

But rejoice, because the geniuses at Hero Bread didn't settle for mediocrity. Their 1g net carb Seeded Bread is high in fiber and actually tastes like bread — the soft and tender-crumbed texture you'd expect from your favorite french toast, minus the pesky empty carbs that cause bloat and blood sugar spikes.

For an added boost of protein (and deliciousness!), give your cinnamony goodness the TikTok-famous yogurt toast treatment after the initial pan fry and spread on your favorite nut butter.

2. Childhood nostalgia on Hero Classic White Bread 🥪

When life gets intense, food is like a comfort blanket. IYKYK.

Hero's light and fluffy white bread slices are perfect for all the old classics. Here are a few ideas that’ll taste like a blast from the past, only better for you:

  • Tuna Melt: I make mine with finely-chopped celery for added flavor and crunch!
  • PB&Js: For an added nutritional boost, swap in unsweetened, natural nut butter and use berries instead of jam.
  • Grilled Cheese: Pair with a big bowl of tomato soup to fill you up without weighing you down!

3. Taco Tuesday made with Hero Flour Tortillas 🌮

As a born-and-raised Californian, my life wouldn't be complete without a generous serving of Mexican and Cali-Mex cuisine. There’s just something about piling guacamole and cheese on a taco that makes everything better.

Now, Taco Tuesdays are a permanent fixture in my week thanks to Hero's tender, stretchy, and 0g net carb, high fiber tortillas. As a bonus, they also can double as sandwich wraps and thin-crust pizza bases when I’m feeling particularly creative. 😉

Hero Bread: All the Good Stuff and None of the Bad

In a world where eating healthier often means sacrificing our favorite foods, Hero Bread is a true lifesaver for food lovers like me. If you also want to enjoy what you eat while feeling more nourished, look no further. Making the switch to Hero Bread is the smartest, simplest dietary change you can make. I'm a #BreadLoverForLife, and this is a change that doesn’t feel like a sacrifice! 🙌

In the last year, my husband has lost over 60 pounds (Go, Joe!!!!). While I was relatively healthy before he started, his dedication to living a healthier life inspired me to make changes of my own.

After struggling for years to find a diet that works, I’m happy to report that my wellness goals feel more attainable than ever. And, thanks to Hero Bread, I don’t even have to give up my favorite foods to achieve them!
