The Mama’s Guide to Kids’ Multivitamins: Hiya vs. Zarbee’s

On a daily basis, I make no less than 1,000 tiny choices for my son, from what he’ll wear to when his nap time should be. One thing I’m not trying to stress about? Whether or not he’s getting the nutrients he needs! 🥬🍎

So, I went on the hunt for the perfect kids' multivitamin, and I narrowed it down to two brands: Hiya and Zarbee’s. Here’s what I discovered after testing them:

1. For excellent ingredients and nutritional support… Hiya

Not all multivitamins are created equal. Hiya and Zarbee’s are both free of gelatin and gluten. That’s a really good starting point! Where they differ is that Zarbee’s has 12 vitamins while Hiya is made with 15 vitamins and minerals at higher doses than Zarbee’s. Basically, I get a more nutrient-dense vitamin in 1 Hiya chewable than I do with 2 Zarbee’s gummies!

The Hiya formula is designed to fully and comprehensively support my son’s growth and development, which is exactly what I was looking for. Zarbee’s are made with a good mix of essential nutrients, but Hiya takes the cake with a more well-rounded solution for my growing boy. 🍰

2. For dentist-recommended chewables (not gummies)… Hiya

Gummies run the risk of getting stuck in tiny teeth and potentially causing cavities. So, experts recommend that children take chewable multivitamins, like Hiya, rather than gummies, like Zarbee’s. I’m teaching my son good oral hygiene habits–we only get one set of grownup teeth, after all! Teaching him to use chewable daily vitamins will also help him form healthier habits. 😁

Since gummies are like candy, it’s possible that he could grow to think that healthy food has to be chewy and sweet, and as much as I would love for that to be the case, it’s just not true. Zarbee’s is a gummy and not a chewable, so I prefer to go with Hiya.

3. If you’re seeking a sustainable choice… Hiya

Hiya is the clear winner in this department. I got a refillable glass jar that I helped my son decorate, and when I get the refill each month, it comes in a little pouch. All I have to do is pour it into the glass jar and I’ve got what my son needs for the month ahead.

He always has a fresh supply of vitamins and I don’t have to worry about them getting damaged or melting during shipping. Zarbee’s packaging, on the other hand, is just like most brands. Each new supply comes in a new plastic bottle.

4. Child-approved flavor…It’s a tie!

No one understands the struggle of getting tiny humans to eat their vegetables like us moms do. If it isn’t sweet, most kids want nothing to do with it–mine included! Both Hiya and Zarbee’s multivitamins have a sweet flavor that my son loves.

Both formulas are sweetened, but Hiya uses natural sweeteners like monk fruit and Zarbee’s uses honey and glucose syrup. Zarbee’s contains 3g of added sugars while Hiya has 0g. My son was happy to take either option because he loved the way they taste. That’s one less struggle on this mama’s plate!

And my favorite kids’ multivitamin is…Hiya!

After comparing both Zarbee’s and Hiya on nutrition, what the experts recommend, and the sustainable option, Hiya is my ultimate winner. Hiya is a little more expensive—$30 for a 30-day supply vs. around $16-$18 for a 70ct supply from Zarbee’s—but knowing that my son is getting optimal nutrition is absolutely worth the difference for me.

These little chewables offer my son all the support his growing body and mind need; plus, I get a fresh supply delivered to my door every month, and he absolutely loves the way they taste. I’m so glad I found something that works for him, and now I have one less choice to make each day. Win-win!
