Like many homeowners, I’ve lost my fair share of rugs to spills, pets, and kids. If you can relate, you know that shopping for a new rug every few months can get pretty expensive.
So when I heard about this so-called machine-washable rug from Ruggable, I for sure thought it was a scam. But I couldn’t let it go—if there really was some miracle rug out there that could stand up to life’s messes and still look brand new, I absolutely had to try it for myself.
That’s when I decided to buy one to test just how durable it could be. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised—here’s why:
1. Spills, stains, and residue clean up in mere minutes

With two kids under the age of 10, messes are the norm in my home. Much to their delight, I fed them spaghetti and meatballs, complete with lidless cups and hot fudge sundaes for dessert. To say it was chaotic and messy would be an understatement. Sauce, juice, fudge… it was everywhere.
Despite forgetting about the mess and letting it sit (whoops), the stains and residue wiped away easily with a simple water + dish soap combo. Plus, it didn’t leave any smells behind, which is HUGE for me—years of stains and weird odors is the #1 reason I’ve tossed rugs.

2. It doesn’t slide around, so it's safe for mischievous kids and older family members

Our adorable, but mischievous, puppy is still getting the hang of going potty outside. So to put my new rug to the test, I set up her playpen directly on top of it, and she played like there was no tomorrow.
The first thing I noticed was that the rug protected my hardwood floors from scratches and scuffs—such a win!—and it didn’t slip or slide at all. This is a testament to their two-part system, which comes with a removable Rug Cover plus a non-slip Rug Pad, which grips the top cover.
You won’t have to worry about your kids or in-laws wiping out on a slippery carpet.
3. I thought it would snag and curl… I thought wrong
I’ve had cotton rugs, wool rugs, and jute rugs all get destroyed from my vacuum and my dog’s nails, leaving them ragged. But with kids and a pup, I can’t not vacuum everyday.
So when I vacuumed my Ruggable rug, I was shocked that it didn’t catch and pull, stretch, or rough up the rug’s fibers.

I’ve also been that person who tries every hack out there to fix curled rug corners (even the ice cube trick…) to no avail. So, I’m obsessed with the fact that Ruggable’s corners don’t curl up AT ALL.
4. Ruggable’s Rug Covers are machine-washable (!!)
A machine-washable rug? I was intrigued. My former rugs all had to be meticulously spot-cleaned, and well, let’s just say they never got totally clean… and it was a total time suck.
All I did was remove the cover from the non-slip pad and throw the 8x10 rug into the wash on a delicate setting. The rug covers range from about ¼ of an inch thick to around ¾ inches, so even the largest area rug fit into my standard washer.

The rug cover reattached to the pad with no problem thanks to their patented Cling Effect™, meaning the cover and pad reattach perfectly every time, without losing its grip. The colors retained their richness, too!
Ruggable: 4, Me: 0
Even after throwing everything I could at Ruggable’s rug, it still looks brand new. I'm completely sold, and so is everyone else. Here's what a few of their 44,000+ 5-star reviews have to say:
Pair that with the fact that Ruggable has a gazillion designs to choose from and their prices start at $89…I’m buying a new rug for every room in my house!
