PROVEN vs. Curology: I Tried 2 Personalized Skincare Brands So You Don’t Have To

When I was younger, my skin bounced back from a lot–think ice cream binges, summer days spent outside without SPF, and whatever basic moisturizer & cleanser looked appealing at CVS. Now, my list of skincare concerns is only getting longer: tackling dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and texture is top-of-mind for me.

The problem was I never knew what products to use.

A couple of my gal friends suggested trying personalized skincare to let the experts hone in on my skincare concerns, so I took two recommendations for a test drive: PROVEN and Curology. Let’s see which is worth your money:

If you want a formula that's hyper-personalized for your concerns… PROVEN

PROVEN is revolutionizing skincare with their AI-powered formulas. Not even the dermatologists I've been to have been this thorough.

Right off the bat, PROVEN doesn’t mess around with their Skin Genome Quiz™. PROVEN gets intimately acquainted with your skin by asking about more than 47 factors, such as:

  • Main skin concerns and history
  • Zip code (humidity, UV index, and air quality)
  • Average nightly sleep 😴
  • Stress & diet
  • Computer usage 💻
  • Sun exposure

PROVEN’s AI-driven database formulated my 3-step routine in the sidebar as I answered questions–it not only took into account my environment and skincare concerns, it analyzed 20,238 ingredients and 100,000 skincare products for a bespoke formula. Basically, your regimen is the result of 4,000 scientific papers and 20 million consumer reviews.

When I took Curology’s quiz, I felt it wasn’t as comprehensive as PROVEN’s. Many of the questions were geared towards acne, which wasn’t a concern of mine, and their quiz didn’t consider environmental or lifestyle factors.

If you want a routine that delivers targeted results in a short amount of time… PROVEN

Since my PROVEN routine is hyper-personalized to me, I'm seeing my specific skincare concerns being zeroed in on and targeted.

After just a couple weeks of using my 3-step PROVEN routine (usually $129.99, but available for $99 for a limited time), I’ve seen noticeable changes. Thanks to the granactive retinol, tranexamic acid, kojic acid, and more, my sun damage and fine lines are less noticeable, and texture isn’t an issue for me anymore!

The products also feel good on my skin. The weather is hot & humid where I live in Texas, and I love that my PROVEN routine knows this. You’ll get 3 products–a Personalized Cleanser, SPF Day Moisturizer, and the custom Night Cream, all meant to mesh with your environment and lifestyle. My skin doesn’t feel overly greasy when I apply the SPF Day Moisturizer, but it’s also moisturizing enough for my dry skin. ☀️

My skin agreed with my Curology routine ($59.90), but I wish the routine was more personalized–only their acne and anti-aging treatments are custom.

If acne is your primary concern or you want more variety in acne-related products… Curology

Curology also treats anti-aging concerns, but their product line is geared more towards acne-prone skin. Curology offers an acne cleanser, emergency spot patches, and an acne body wash to bust breakouts.

PROVEN’s formulas also address acne, but if you’re looking for lots of product range in that department, Curology may be your best bet! Since I was primarily focused on texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and overall having smoother and brighter skin, I felt that PROVEN was more up my alley.

If you want a simplified routine that'll never be more than 3 steps… PROVEN

Every ingredient PROVEN chooses for you is clean, rooted in science, and specifically effective so you’ll never need more than the personalized cleanser, day moisturizer, and night cream! Oh, and it’s female-founded, made in the USA by Stanford scientists, and is cruelty-free. 🐰 A 2-month supply usually costs $129.99 + free shipping, and you can cancel whenever; but for a limited time, get your first personalized 3-Step System for $99 when you apply code MSA99 at checkout.

Curology recommended 5 products for me, but only the anti-aging treatment was custom. I personally don’t feel like I need a 5-step routine, especially if the rest of the products aren’t specifically formulated for my needs. Curology’s custom subscription starts at $59.90 + free shipping.

My winner is… PROVEN

Since I’ve been using PROVEN, my friends & family have been asking what I’m doing to keep my skin so youthful. If I knew PROVEN was the key to unlocking bright, healthy-looking skin, I would’ve invested in it a long time ago. If you need any more reason to try it, you can save $30 when you apply code MSA99 at checkout!
