I don’t know about you, but a simple, fast makeup routine is all I have time for most days. And while it’s great that there are so many products on the market that claim to make us look like a better version of ourselves, do they really live up to those claims?
Because I have mature skin, my needs are a little bit different and I’m more skeptical than ever of products that claim to work magic. So, I tried the PrimeWand Trinity from Prime Prometics and the Boomstick Trio from Cindy Joseph. Which trio performs the best?
If you’re looking for the best pick for mature skin… PrimeWand Trinity
This is the most important factor to me when I’m evaluating products that go on my almost 60-year-old face. Nearly all women over 50 have discoloration on our skin, including age spots, sun spots, liver spots, and more. These things mostly have purple overtones. The berry tint of PrimeWand Pigment invites pink and red tones, acting as a concealer.
This product is more sheer than the Boomstick Color (I have the Rose Nude shade), and I find that the PrimeWand provides more moisture as it deposits the perfect amount of pigment wherever I put it. This is better for drier, mature skin.

For this trial, I applied both trios of products to clean dry skin early in the morning on separate days. I had to reapply the Boomstick products a few times throughout the day because they faded, which wasn’t a problem with the PrimeWand Trinity.
The beautiful berry hue of the PrimeWand Pigment lasted much longer, and I only touched up once in the evening when I wanted a little extra color for dinner. PrimeWand Trinity wins here, because who really wants to wonder if their makeup looks good during an afternoon meeting?
If you’re looking for portability & bang for your buck… it’s a tie
Both of the sets include 3 products–a nourishing face base, a pigment, and a highlighter– that are packaged in a stick format, very similar to tubes of lipstick. This makes them easy to store, easy to use, and easy to travel with.
Since they’re not a liquid, I don’t have to worry about leaks and spills when I travel. However, I like that the Prime Prometics products are slightly larger with slightly more product in each stick and the set is a little cheaper than the Boomstick Trio. Since the packaging & price are similar, they get a tie score on this comparison.
If you’re looking for the most hydrating formula… PrimeWand Trinity
The PrimeWand Trinity includes things like olive oil, avocado oil, bioactive nutrients, beet extract, and honey in the all-natural products, which nourish & hydrate the skin.
Similarly, the Boomstick Trio includes olive oil, fruit oil, beeswax and honey. I love the range of good-for-you ingredients that the PrimeWand includes, and I found that the PrimeWand Trinity is much more moisturizing than the Boomstick Trio.
The Boomstick Trio products tend to drag across my skin and don’t quite give me the glow that I’m looking for. The PrimeWand Trinity, on the other hand, gave me a natural lit-from-within glow in minutes. It took me just 5 minutes to apply the PrimeWand Trinity products, and it took a little longer to achieve the same results with the Boomstick Trio because of the dragging.
My Final Thoughts
Even though both products performed well, I declare the PrimeWand Trinity to be the winner in this face-off! The products are more moisturizing, which is necessary for mature skin, and I’m obsessed with the long-lasting dewy look.
