Nutrisense vs. Lumen: Which Metabolic Health Tracker is Right for This Busy Mama?

I'm getting detailed info about my body I never knew before 😳

I’m a firm believer that health is wealth, and I’m always looking for ways to really zero in on all the things I can do to make sure I’m living my healthiest life.

Though I’ve been avoiding gluten due to an intolerance for a long time, I want to know exactly how my body responds to other foods, too, and what changes I can make to feel my best. In the past, I’ve really relied on my body to tell me what I should and shouldn’t be eating, but it’s difficult to tease out which foods are having a negative impact, and what that impact even is.

I did my homework and found two popular devices to aid me on my quest: Nutrisense—a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) that offers a more holistic view of overall health when paired with the Nutrisense App and one-on-one expert nutritionist support, allowing you to see how your blood sugar levels change throughout the day in response to food, stress, sleep and exercise. And Lumen—a metabolism breathalyzer that measures C02.

Now, I will say that both tools and their associated apps have a lot to offer but, when I compare them side-by-side, there is definitely a clear winner:

If you’re looking for one-on-one support from a nutritionist… Nutrisense

One of the things I love most about Nutrisense is that I was paired with a registered dietitian for one-on-one support. She was amazing! She helped me create a plan tailored to my health goals and my (super busy) lifestyle, with ideas for when I should be eating, working out, and fasting to optimize my results. I know I’m not alone when I say that knowing where to start on a health journey can be overwhelming, but Nutrisense took so much of the guesswork off my plate.

And the Nutrisense message system is truly phenomenal—I ask so many questions about my results and receive thorough, knowledgeable answers.

Anytime I have a high spike or my glucose drops really low, my nutritionist reaches out to offer recommendations for tweaking my fasting schedule, when to workout after a meal, and even insights into what might have caused the spike or the drop.

If you’re looking for a way to log your meals and workouts…it’s a tie

If there’s one thing I know about living a healthy lifestyle, it’s that consistency is key. Between keeping track of my kids, my job, and my mental health, asking me to stay consistent with my health goals is like asking me to find a four-leaf clover.

One thing that’s helped me, though, is tracking what I’m eating and the exercises I’m doing. Fortunately, both Lumen and Nutrisense have in-app tracking features, so no matter which one I choose, I know I’ll be able to stay on top of what I’m eating.

I’m one of those people who has to physically see changes to know how to alter what I’m doing to get the results I’m looking for, so having an app to track my progress has been invaluable. My nutritionist was able to provide feedback based on the meals and activities I was tracking together with the readings from my glucose charts.

If you’re looking for personalized, detailed feedback…Nutrisense

Yes, both Nutrisense and Lumen give me the ability to track my workouts and my diet, but Nutrisense gives me detailed feedback that a simple breathalyzer like Lumen just can’t compete with. I have learned so much about the way my body works.

Nutrisense uses a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) to give me details about how my body responds to certain foods and exercises. For instance, I learned that my body experiences a MAJOR glucose spike when I eat frozen blueberries—something I never would have expected before using Nutrisense.

And while the spike itself always made me feel pretty good, the resulting drop was pretty unbearable. My nutritionist suggested walking after meals to help reduce the glucose spike, and I noticed a difference right away.

Now, I can use that information to plan out my days and make sure that I’m keeping my energy levels even throughout the day. My babies, both human and furry, are super grateful that mama is able to keep up with them better!

If you want to get more bang for your buck…Nutrisense

For me, price is always a factor when I’m considering what product/service to go with, but I’m willing to invest in something that is worthwhile. I say that because, at $225 a month for a 12 month plan, Nutrisense is more expensive than Lumen ($299 upfront, then $19/month thereafter).

However, Nutrisense has way more features, like one-one-one guidance from a nutritionist and super detailed feedback. I wouldn’t have necessarily thought that I needed those things to stay on track before, but now that I’ve tried them, I can’t imagine being this successful in my health journey without them.

All Nutrisense plans have the option to pause or cancel subscription at any time. And if you aren’t ready to totally commit, you can sign up for a one month, no commitment plan for $399.

You can also choose to subscribe to a 3-month plan ($299/mo), 6-month plan ($250/mo), or 12-month plan ($225/mo). All plans include two CGMs per month, access to a dedicated nutritionist, as well as a members-only community.

And the overall winner is…Nutrisense

Nutrisense is the hands-down winner for me. Learning just how unique my body is and how best to fuel it has been totally invaluable!

From the personalized support of my nutritionist to the detailed feedback from my trackers, it has everything I need to really optimize my wellness journey and help keep me present for my family. Using these insights, I’ve altered my fasting window, zeroed in on the best timing for certain foods that my body doesn’t always react kindly to, and I’m keeping track of everything that goes into my body.

If you feel like you’re just spinning your wheels when it comes to healthy eating and wellness plans, you need to take a look at Nutrisense!
