New Year, New You: The Unofficial Guide to Taking Charge of Your Weight Loss Goals

If diets that restrict entire food groups are a craggy trail with a cliff at the end, I’m happy to say I’m walking in a flower-filled meadow and losing weight along the way. Can you think of a more pleasant way to stroll into the new year? I sure can’t! I feel so free by finally having a healthy relationship with food, and I have WeightWatchers to thank. Can you believe they’re still around? There’s a reason—WW has decades of science and experience helping folks like me form positive eating habits they can sustain. 2023 is going to be my best year yet. I can feel it in my bones.

Here’s How I’m Losing Weight With a Smile This Year

Eat to Your Heart’s Content

The thing I love most about WeightWatchers is how it’s rewritten my narrative around certain foods and meals—to the point that I don’t even think of it as dieting at all, really. Their Points® system includes a list of ZeroPoint™ foods that that are nutritional powerhouses to serve as the foundation of healthy eating and support your overall health, so they don’t dock from your Points Budget. This means I can eat intuitively while also being guided toward healthier decisions.

Sustainable Goals

Viewing my healthy decisions as positive actions I can take for myself, rather than a list of things I have to avoid, has been transformational for me. Rather than counting calories, which in the past has left me feeling drained and downtrodden, WW’s app lets me scan barcodes to plan filling meals within my Points Budget. Through this system, I’ve figured out some really appetizing meals that I love, and have them saved in the app so I can easily tally them each time I enjoy them.

For Once, I’m Not Cranky

Let’s be honest, being told what you can’t eat is not fun. Even if it’s you telling it to yourself. I have had some really moody days in the past as I grappled with feeling satisfied by what I was eating when all I could think about was what I wish I was eating. With WeightWatchers you can still indulge in guilty pleasures or treats now and then, and knowing I can look forward to them—rather than having to give them up entirely for the foreseeable future—feels really doable for me.

Ready to start?

I truly think that WeightWatchers is the healthiest, most sustainable option to achieve your New Year's resolutions of eating better and losing weight. WW has completely transformed my relationship with food for the better. I’m feeling great about this approach for the year ahead!
