No one knows burnout like a parent who’s done a deep dive into strollers. Yes, I’m weary. But I’m also basically an expert in the field. Let me spare you the effort.
Stroller hunting forces you to think…will it hold up through multiple kids? How much of a calamity will it be to unfold in the Target parking lot? What type of terrain will you be walking on?
I compared two of the highest-quality double strollers on the market—Mockingbird’s Single-to-Double Stroller and UPPAbaby’s Vista V2—and found the one that’s the best for my family:
The stroller that has 19+ configurations, including one that lets your kids face each other…Mockingbird
There are more than 19 ways we can configure our Mockingbird stroller, ranging from one seat to two seats, to an additional Riding Board as a standing option. Each holds up to 45 lbs, which means we have a great number of options well through age 5.
The Car Seat Adapter is my absolute favorite—it wasn’t something I knew I needed until I wanted to move my son without waking him, and the huge Bassinet is a game-changer. 🙌
I love that our little guy has options for how he’d like to be oriented—he enjoys facing me while I push him just as much as he loves looking out into the world, and it’s easy to tilt him back when we’re walking him to sleep. Maybe it’s my sentimental mama heart, but it’s important to me that our son and his future sibling can interact while I push them, and Mockingbird has an arrangement for that.
UPPA’s stroller has some of the same great features as the Mockingbird, like an adjustable handle to accommodate different adult heights, the ability to take on an extra seat and a glider board, and a large storage basket. But the limitation that doesn’t allow kids to face each other is a downfall to me. UPPA’s RumbleSeat V2 has a lower weight threshold (35 lbs), so it may not be great for twins or children close in age and weight.
The more affordable stroller…Mockingbird
Considering these are both premium strollers with a lot of special details, you might expect their prices to be comparable. Think again. The Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller costs $450 with one seat, or $595 with the 2nd Seat Kit. If you’re ready for the Riding Board down the line, it costs $95. Mockingbird offers free shipping over $45.
The UPPAbaby Vista V2 costs $999. The 2nd seat is $145 and the glider board is $135. That’s almost double the price of Mockingbird! 💰
The stroller that stands when folded…it’s a tie
Another few features that these strollers have in common is that they stand up once folded for easy access and manageability. Big parking lot win!
They also both have a foot brake so you can park it even with your hands full, and trust it won’t take off. They also both weigh about the same: Mockingbird’s is 26.5 lbs, while UPPA’s is around 27 lbs.
However, where Mockingbird really takes the cake is that the stroller can be folded with one hand. One hand! I never knew I needed a stroller that folded so easily until I started carrying my toddler in one arm (plus grocery bags, my purse, a diaper bag…you know the drill)! 🛍️
The one with more customization options…Mockingbird
Both strollers offer a variety of canopy color options to choose from. Mockingbird’s customization goes further by letting you select your inner canopy pattern and your handle finish. I love options! 🌈
Plus, Mockingbird’s canopy interior has high-contrast, black-and-white patterns, which might not seem all that significant at first glance, but it’s so clever. Studies have shown these contrasting patterns lead to brain development, and they’ll keep your nugget occupied for longer. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 stroller has bells and whistles for older riders, but the bassinet is just a bassinet (with none of the fun interior patterns).
We love our Mockingbird stroller
The proof is in our daily use, and our Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller is a smooth ride with plentiful storage, a secure foot lock, and tons of configuration options. It has the look, feel, and obvious quality that a luxury stroller has, but with a price tag that made sense for my family. Mockingbird wins out every time for us!
