Leesa vs. Casper: Who Should You Go to Bed With?

Shopping for a mattress in person seems so outdated now—like going to Blockbuster or doing research using a physical encyclopedia. As someone who has no time (or a car), I personally love being able to order a new mattress online. The problem is, there are so many bed-in-a-box brands now, it can be difficult to decide which one to choose.

We’ve had a Casper for many years, and after poking around online, I decided to try something new and test out a mattress from Leesa. They were founded by a third-generation mattress industry veteran with over 18,000 5-star reviews.

Here are my thoughts after sleeping on both:

If You Need Help Choosing a Mattress… Leesa

I get easily overwhelmed by too many choices and find quizzes super helpful when narrowing down my options. While both Leesa and Casper have mattress quizzes on their websites, I found Leesa’s quiz to be much more comprehensive, giving me a more personalized result. For example, Leesa asked if I sleep with anyone else in the same bed and what the weight of each person is to help determine whether motion isolation should be prioritized. Based on my answers, Leesa recommended the Sapira Hybrid and I couldn’t be happier. It has premium memory foam that adapts to my shape, relieving pressure for a more blissful rest so I wake up feeling refreshed.

Casper’s quiz recommended the Nova Hybrid based on my answers, which was kind of odd since it’s described as having a medium-soft firmness. I definitely indicated that I prefer a firmer mattress.

If You Tend to Overheat While Sleeping… Leesa

Despite usually running cold while I’m awake, it’s the opposite when I’m asleep; I sweat—a lot. Lucky for me, Leesa’s breathable cover, supercharged top layer of foam with air channels, and pocketed springs all work together to allow airflow through the mattress to help keep me cool. Casper’s Wave Hybrid is also supposed to keep sleepers decently cool with a thin coating of cooling gel over a layer of perforated foam. I found that while I started off nice and cool, once our Casper became warm from body heat, it stayed warm for a long time.

If You Love a Good Bundle… Casper

I don’t know about you, but for me, bundles can be very tempting. If you feel the same, then Casper is for you. They offer a variety of bundles, like their Comfy Bundle, which pairs two pillows with one sheet set, their Upgrade Bundle, which pairs a hybrid mattress with a mattress protector, foundation, and bed frame, or their Best Selling Bundle, which includes an original mattress, foundation, and mattress protector.

If You Want Value for Money… Leesa

It’s no secret that bed-in-a-box mattresses can be pricey. But for something that you’re literally spending 8 hours each day on, it’s worth it. But that doesn’t mean you can’t save. Leesa’s Sapira Hybrid is the more economical option, being almost $1,000 ($896 + sales tax) less than Casper’s Wave Hybrid Snow.

Even better? You get to try the mattress for 100 nights for free, and if you don't end up liking it, Leesa will coordinate its hassle-free return.

Who Do We Love Sleeping With?... Leesa

We ended up going with the Leesa Sapira Hybrid because of its cooling features, ability to relieve pressure, perfect amount of firmness, and because of how rested and refreshed we both woke up feeling. Seriously, we both knocked out and didn't wake up until our alarm (aka our toddler Gigi) went off. The very reasonable price tag was also a plus.
