Leesa vs. Casper vs. Saatva: Which Mattress Is Best?

Shopping for a mattress is not my idea of a good time. But thankfully, there are so many online mattress brands now that make the experience way more fun. We’ve had a Casper for many years, but now that it’s time for an upgrade, I’m looking to see what else is out there.

Sustainability has become a more important factor for me and two brands that score very high in that category are Leesa and Saatva. Here’s how these three brands compare to each other:

If You Need Help Choosing a Mattress… Leesa

I get easily overwhelmed by too many choices and find quizzes super helpful when narrowing down my options. While all three brands have mattress quizzes on their websites, I found Leesa’s quiz to be the most comprehensive, giving me a more personalized result. For example, Leesa asked if I sleep with anyone else in the same bed and what the weight of each person is to help determine whether motion isolation should be prioritized. Based on my answers, Leesa recommended the Legend Hybrid and I couldn’t be happier. It has premium memory foam that adapts to my shape, relieving pressure for a more blissful rest so I wake up feeling refreshed.

Casper’s quiz recommended the Wave Hybrid based on my answers, and Saatva’s recommendation was the Latex Hybrid.

If You Tend to Overheat While Sleeping… Leesa

Despite usually running cold while I’m awake, it’s the opposite when I’m asleep; I sweat—a lot. Lucky for me, Leesa’s breathable cover, the supercharged top layer of foam with air channels, and pocketed springs all work together to allow airflow through the mattress to help keep me cool.

Saatva’s mattress uses natural latex, which is more breathable than foam, but Leesa and Casper’s Wave Hybrid get around this issue with perforated foam that allows for high airflow. Leesa’s soft cover made with a blend of organic cotton and merino wool is the real game-changer here. Not only is the wool naturally antimicrobial, but it also helps wick away moisture to keep the surface cool.

If You Love a Good Bundle… Casper

I don’t know about you, but for me, bundles can be very tempting. If you feel the same, then Casper is for you. They offer a variety of bundles, like their Comfy Bundle, which pairs two pillows with one sheet set, their Upgrade Bundle, which pairs a hybrid mattress with a mattress protector, foundation, and bed frame, or their Best Selling Bundle, which includes an original mattress, foundation, and mattress protector.

If You Want the Most Affordable Option… Saatva

It’s no secret that high-quality mattresses can be pricey. But for something that you’re literally spending 8 hours each day on, it’s worth it. But that doesn’t mean you can’t save. For a Queen-size mattress, Leesa’s Legend Hybrid ($2,099) and Saatva’s Latex Hybrid ($1,866) are both hundreds of dollars less than Casper’s Wave Hybrid ($2,460.75).

While Saatva’s is the most affordable option if you’re looking for just a mattress, Leesa is offering two free pillows, which makes it a better deal.

Even better? You get to try the Leesa mattress for 100 nights for free, and if you don't end up liking it, Leesa will coordinate a hassle-free return for a full refund. Saatva has a 365-night trial period but charges a $99 fee if you decide to return it.

Who Do We Love Sleeping With?... Leesa

We ended up going with the Leesa Legend Hybrid because of its cooling features, ability to relieve pressure, perfect amount of firmness, and how rested and refreshed my partner and I both woke up feeling. Leesa was founded by a third-generation mattress industry veteran, and I can totally see why they have over 20,000 5-star reviews. The very reasonable price tag is also a plus.
