I Thought Weightlifting Was Not For Me (A Busy Mom) – Then Tempo Changed My Mind

If you’re a super busy mom who’s on a journey to stay fit while also juggling the daily chaos of life, I know the struggle. It's been so hard to find time in my day to go to the gym when I'm already busy with work and caring for my little ones. On top of this, I’ve dabbled with different types of workouts in the past but nothing was keeping me excited or giving me the results I wanted to see.

I’ve heard that weight training was the best way to feel stronger and keep improving when you’ve hit a plateau but the whole idea really intimidated me and I had no idea where to start. I was just about to rejoin the gym when I discovered I could pay less per month and probably get a better experience.

Enter: Tempo Move.

I never thought I’d love weightlifting but this compact home gym has turned me into a believer. Here’s how:

It’s more convenient and affordable than traditional gyms and personal trainers

At this point, you’re probably wondering if this will cost you an arm and a leg, but I worked out that it’s way less than what I used to spend on gym memberships. With their gym bundles, you can get an entire set of adjustable free weights home gym setup and 12 months of unlimited virtual training for less than $50/month with a one year contract.

Since I’m new to weight lifting and have extra space in my living room to workout,  Tempo recommended their Tempo Move Plus, which is about $60 per month. I got an entire set of weight plates (75lbs total), dumbbells (7.5lbs), storage cabinet, workout mat, and full access to personalized, virtual training with real-time guidance with their iOS app.

If I were to go to a gym and work with a personal trainer, I’d be paying that same amount or more just for one session. Not to mention the time I would have to take to drive to the gym and back and find someone to watch my little one. I would much rather invest in a program that I now know works and that I can use in the comfort and convenience of my own home.

It’s also super convenient for my family since my one membership account allows up to 6 users. Now my husband and even my mom can use it and I don’t have to pay anything extra. Hello, #FitFam!

It gives you a daily readiness score

I’ve always avoided weights because I was worried about injuring myself or having to overexert myself. But Tempo Move assuaged my fears because it meets me where I’m at and motivates me with just the right amount of challenge.

It gives you a daily readiness score, which considers factors like your sleep quality (ha!), heart rate, and muscle recovery, to help you determine the best kind of workout for your body on any given day. With such an accommodating “coach”, I’m finding that I’m no longer making excuses for not working out and I feel way more energized.

After completing their helpful quiz, they recommended a product perfect for me

Tempo offers an assessment to make sure you are set up with a product perfect for your lifestyle and goals. I found this quiz-like questionnaire to be surprisingly detailed and thoughtful. It didn't just ask for basic information like weight, height, and age. Instead, it delved into my daily habits, how much time I'm willing to dedicate to exercise, how busy my schedule is, and what my fitness goals are. This comprehensive approach led to a spot-on recommendation: the Tempo Move Plus. This choice fits seamlessly into my lifestyle. Read on to see why...

You get a comprehensive and personalized workout program

One of the things I was worried about was that I wouldn’t really know how to use the equipment. Luckily, the Tempo app comes with real-time guidance. It adapts to my movements and tells me exactly what my range of motion, weight limit, and reps should be. It’s literally like working out with a personal trainer, minus the awkwardness of actually having a human watching me work.

Having this personal, real-time feedback has given me the confidence to really push myself and I’m surprised by how much more capable I really am. Before I thought I’d maxed out at 5 lbs weights but now I’m comfortable reaching for the 15 lbs and I’m just getting started.

I found my new favorite workout routine

Tempo has definitely changed my mindset about weightlifting routines. It’s not just any weightlifting program - it’s customized to my body and what it needs. What excites me the most is that, since it adapts to my progress, it will keep me from plateauing, and it does it all without taking up too much room in my house.

If you’re living in the chaos of raising kids and trying to stay fit, then trust me when I tell you it’s completely worth it.
