I Saved $300 a Month Just By Ditching Take-Out

Here's How This Meal Kit Plan Made It Happen

Spending money is a given whether you grab take-out after work or decide to hit up the latest trending restaurant with your friends. In fact, according to my bank statements, I can spend almost $800 just on take-out and groceries that often go to waste. 🫣 And because I do not have a seemingly overflowing bank account, I knew I had to start cutting back and cook more at home. But, in all honesty, I needed a less complicated way of doing so, and my meal planning had to be realistic.

That’s when one of my BFFs suggested I look into meal kit plans, specifically Purple Carrot, which offers 100% vegan and plant-based meals. Not only would a meal kit make the kitchen less intimidating, but my Sunday mornings would free up since I didn’t have to go to the supermarket. The best part though? It turned out to be super cost-effective, so I could actually start putting money into my savings.

Not only have I saved $300+ a month on my grocery bill just by switching to Purple Carrot, I’ve discovered several other perks too...

✅ I’m in control of serving sizes

The first thing that influenced me to choose Purple Carrot was how customizable their meal plans were. As a single working woman in her 20s, I only have to worry about feeding myself — and maybe a friend or two when hosting movie night. 🎬

In a given week, I can easily spend over $150 on groceries, and that doesn’t even guarantee that I’m actually cooking. That’s why I love being able to choose the serving size of my meals and how many meals per week I want. Normally, meals start at just $11 per serving – or anywhere between $79.50 and $132 a week-  but with a $100 off my first four boxes, that price goes down a lot! And knowing that I’ll actually eat them, this is an epic score. 🤑

✅ I have everything I need delivered right to my door

Some people find pleasure in grocery shopping on the weekends. I, on the other hand, hate wasting my days off indoors, and the stuff that I do end up getting tends to go to waste, therefore money lost. 😩

With Purple Carrot, in addition to getting $100 off my first 4 boxes, my first week’s order shipped for free! After that, I’ve been getting my meals delivered for just $10 on orders under $99. That $10 fee is way less than the cost of the lost produce, not to mention the Ubers I usually take back because my bags are too heavy. 🚚

✅ I’m less tempted to grab take-out

I used to order take-out because it was quick and convenient. Nowadays, I find myself more eager to eat the delicious meals on the Purple Carrot menu. Meal kits come with over 25 recipes to choose from each week, and I can choose recipes that are designed to be cooked in less time, as it works for me. When the last thing I want to do is cook, Purple Carrot has over 15 prepared meal options each week, so I’m ready to dive in with 5 minutes’ notice. Everything is super easy to prepare, so it’s never a drag, but I’m loving the way this plan just gets my lifestyle. Better yet, I’m eating healthier and tastier meals, and I’m able to plan my breakfasts, lunches, and dinners better than ever before. 👩‍🍳

TL;DR: I’m obsessed 😍

I came to Purple Carrot to save cash, and while that mission was definitely accomplished, what brings me back week after week are the delicious meals and unmatched convenience. I’m no longer having to grab meals on the fly, and now I’m $300 a month richer for it. 🎤🫳

Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s some loaded Greek flatbreads calling my name, and they’re not just going to eat themselves…
