As a first-time mom, I went a little overboard with my baby registry and got so many “just in case” things. I’m talking organic burp cloths, baby laundry detergents, fancy stroller toys, and even that French giraffe teether thing. But there’s only one thing I got that I use every day and night — the Nanit Pro Camera.
When I heard so many great things about the Nanit Pro from my mom friends, I had to put it on my registry. Spoiler alert: I’m so glad I did.
Here’s why it’s my favorite piece of baby gear ever:
1) It’s So Easy to Set Up and Use
Listen, when you have a newborn, the last thing you need is a piece of technology that takes four hours of reading and a PhD to figure out.
The Nanit Pro makes it so easy. It takes just a few minutes to put it together, download the app, and plug in. The app then keeps a record of all the stats about my baby, which I can access within a few taps.
It’s so convenient to be able to use my phone as the viewing unit — let’s face it, I always have my phone with me. Now I don’t have to scramble to find some random object and keep it charged.
2) It’s a Hit With Celebrities
No wonder celebrities like Erin Andrews, Drew Barrymore, and Kim Kardashian had it on their baby registries. If celebrities who can afford any baby monitor on the market are choosing the Nanit Pro (starting at $249), it tells me that I’ve chosen the best of the best for my baby.
Meghan Trainor recently partnered with Nanit, putting her favorite Nanit products (plus her book on motherhood) in one awesome “I Am Your Mother” bundle.
My favorite culturally relevant moment is when Jason Kelce caught his daughter singing the Philadelphia Eagles chant using his Nanit Pro!
Celebs aside, the Nanit Pro has over 6,000 5-star reviews and was named by Wirecutter as one of the best Wi-Fi baby monitors of 2024. Check some of them out here:
3) It’s a One-Stop Shop to Baby Zzzs
Instead of needing to pack 50 different products when visiting the grandparents, I can just bring the Nanit Pro Camera.
The Nanit Pro is invaluable to me, because it provides features like:
- White noise and nature sounds
- A night light
- Temperature and humidity level records
- A comprehensive sleep report
- A video summary of my baby’s day
- A sleep efficiency breakdown
The Nanit Pro even monitors my baby’s breathing motion, which means I don’t work myself into a frenzy worrying about whether she’s still breathing. It’s like having an all-in-one night nurse and sleep consultant.
4) The Picture Quality Is Amazing
I remember hearing stories from my mom friends who freaked out when they couldn’t tell through their grainy videos if there was a sock in their baby’s crib or just a shadow.
Luckily, I don’t have that worry because the Nanit Pro has amazingly high-quality video — it’s HD (1080 pixels), which is the same as my full HD TV. How cool is that? I can watch on my phone with the picture-in-picture feature even while I’m scrolling through Instagram. Plus, the two-way talk function works even when my phone screen is off.
5) It Fits Any Nursery Decor
Okay, I know this is not the most important feature of a baby monitor, but I did work hard to set up a cute nursery. I didn’t want to “ruin it” with a super ugly piece of surveillance technology, but the Nanit Pro is modern, sleek, and — dare I say — stylish. The neutral coloring and simple design means it goes with pretty much everything.
The Nanit Pro Is a Baby Registry Must-Have
In short, the Nanit Pro is hands down the most useful thing I had on my baby registry, and if any soon-to-be parents are scratching their heads thinking about what to put on their registries, I wholeheartedly recommend the Nanit Pro.
Seriously, even if you already have a baby monitor from baby #1, consider upgrading it to a Nanit Pro. It’s 2024; we don’t have to live with fuzzy video anymore!
