I Almost Gave Up on Exercise Until I Tried This

When I was younger, I never had concerns about exercise intensity or injuries, but when I suffered my first major injury in my mid-30s everything went downhill. I tore my Lisfranc ligament – a foot injury with a notoriously challenging healing process – and have never fully recovered. On top of that, I’m dealing with the aches and pains of aging, with mild arthritis, chronic tendonitis, and a bad bunion too. Getting old is no fun!

I started doing low-impact exercises at home to get back in shape and avoid aggravating my injuries but quickly became frustrated. I wasn’t seeing results and getting bored doing the same exercises over and over again.

I was pretty much ready to give up on exercise completely but decided to look online one last time for more personalized options (following exercise influencers wasn’t cutting it). I came across Fyt (aka Find Your Trainer) and wow, has it changed my life! Keep reading to find out how.

Get matched with a trainer who’ll come to you

Signing up is easy! Fyt’s matching process is simple but personalized. You take Fyt’s fitness quiz to tell them your goals if you’re an experienced athlete or a complete beginner, and what you’re looking for in a trainer (do you prefer a “supportive, nurturing coach”, “educator”, or “drill sergeant”?). I was matched with Nick Walker who, before starting Walker Run Total Transformation, was a Fitness Director at Crunch Fitness, and 2019’s Trainer of the Year in DC. When we had our initial call, our personalities instantly meshed so I knew we’d become fast friends and workout buddies.

Since my building has a gym, I asked Nick to train me there and I loved the convenience. I asked Nick how he trains clients who don’t have a gym and he said he can train clients anywhere – in their living room, their yard, at a park, at work – because he brings all the equipment they need. He even trains clients virtually via Zoom or FaceTime when they’re traveling.

Discover new exercises with a customized workout plan

Nick made sure to tailor the exercises based on my injury concerns and customized my workouts to help me reach my fitness goals. Throughout our first session, he opened up my eyes to new cardio and strength training moves and guided me through new twists (literally and figuratively) on familiar exercises. He also demonstrated all the exercises in person and corrected my form (I’m usually all about speed) to ensure I got the best results.

After a few Fyt sessions with Nick, I’m now able to work out and build muscle and endurance without the unnecessary pain I’ve dealt with for so many years. And while I’m not flying through the workouts as quickly as I used to, the truth is I’m getting better results in less time because now I’m performing the exercises correctly!

Keep the focus on your workouts with transparent pricing

You know one thing I cannot stand about joining a gym? The contracts and how it’s seemingly impossible to cancel your membership. With Fyt, there are no commitments, no membership fees, and no recurring charges. Just choose how many sessions you want (with discounts for more sessions), and schedule them at your convenience.

Everything is completely transparent – it’s per trainer so you can pick someone who charges $29 per session to $149 per session depending on your needs and budget. Each trainer lists their price per session in their profile so you won’t get stuck with sticker shock at the end. All payments are handled through Fyt’s secure platform which also avoids the awkwardness of paying your trainer directly.

Final Thoughts

My Fyt workouts have been fantastic and with Nick’s help, I finally feel like I’m on a path to real recovery and have an expert teacher supporting and guiding me every step of the way. I’m so inspired and motivated to get back into shape and kiss these injuries goodbye. Looking forward to seeing Nick again and kicking butt at my next session!
