How I Got Hotel-Quality Bedding at Home for a Fraction of the Price

I always sleep better on vacation. I used to think it was because I’m not weighed down by the stresses of home– work worries get put on hold, there’s no alarm to sleep through, and the biggest scheduling conflicts are whether I have time for both lounging by the pool AND surfing lessons.

But when I learned about FluffCo, a company that offers consumers the same luxe bedding you’ll find in 5-star hotels, it made me wonder: could the secret to my heavenly holiday snoozes actually be the top-quality resort pillows?

I did some research and took the plunge, and– Sweet, Morpheus!– let me tell you what. The right pillow really can help you recreate that luxury hotel experience at home. Here’s what you need to know:

Hotel Pillows Really Are Better

It’s not your imagination. The pillows you sink into in resort hotel beds really are better. While most pillows are just fabric sacks stuffed full of filling, luxury pillows are made to a higher standard. FluffCo uses a pillow-in-pillow design that recreates that ahhhhh feeling you get when you toss yourself onto a hotel bed after a long flight. The core is made of feathers and there’s an outer layer of soft down, so you get cloud-like softness for comfort along with essential support.

Prefer a vegan alternative? FluffCo’s down alternative pillows are made to the same high standard using entirely plant-based materials.

Buying Pillows is Tricky

I’m pretty sure I’ve been hunting for the perfect pillow my whole life. I’ve bought pillows from the big box store, but they get lumpy quickly. I’ve tried buzzy, as-seen-on-TV pillows, but I was underwhelmed. I even recently splurged on an expensive memory foam pillow, but it’s not fluffy at all and gives me a neckache. Even figuring out where to buy pillows is a challenge. Shopping online is hard because there are a TON of options, and it’s hard to compare, but when I try to shop in-store I’m stuck trying to cuddle plastic-wrapped marshmallows.

FluffCo makes it easy. They keep the selection simple with only four pillow options: firm and soft in either down or down alternative. If you’re not sure which firmness level you need, there’s a quiz to help you decide (as a side-sleeper, I’m a firm pillow gal, whereas my husband, a back sleeper, likes the soft), and there’s even a 30-night free trial so you can make sure you love your new pillow before you commit.

“Hotel Pillows” Don’t Have to Break the Bank

These days, it seems most high-end hotels make it very easy for you to take home your very own resort bedding. But the cost can be prohibitive. Two hotel chains with amazing pillows I wanted to take home are Four Seasons ($199 for a down/feather pillow) and The Ritz-Carlton ($199.20 for down). Let’s get real: that’s simply too rich for my blood. I have no problem splurging now and then, but I have two bedrooms in my house with four pillows on each bed. I can’t spend over $1k on pillows.

With FluffCo, down and feather pillows start at $89, and down alternatives start at only $59 (plus, you get a free pillow protector that most hotels charge extra for). And let me tell you: FluffCo pillows are a total dupe for the ones I fell in love with at those fancy-schmancy hotels.

The Most Decorated Pillow Ever?

Ever since receiving my FluffCo pillows, my bed feels comfier and I’ve been having to count fewer sheep on my way to the Land of Nod. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I feel relaxed, and I greet the mornings more refreshed than ever– I’m tossing and turning less and waking up with no back or neck soreness. But you don’t have to take it from me. FluffCo is one of the most lauded pillows I’ve ever come across. The pile of awards speaks for itself. Everyone from Good Housekeeping and Architectural Digest to Healthline and PureWow also give FluffCo pillows two big thumbs up.

The only downside to my new FluffCo-enhanced bedding is that I now don’t ever want to leave my bedroom. Full disclosure: I actually wrote this review from bed.
