Everyday Dose vs. MUD\WTR: Battle of the Coffee Alternatives

There’s been a lot of talk on the internet about MUD\WTR vs Everyday Dose, so we decided to do our own research.

In my quest to find a better-for-you alternative that tastes like the delicious morning cup of coffee I’m used to and gives me energy, I came across mushroom coffee – namely, Everyday Dose and MUD/WTR, two popular coffee alternative options. I tried both brands, and I think I found my new favorite buzz…

If you don’t want to kiss your coffee goodbye… Everyday Dose

As someone who loves coffee, emulating that taste is absolutely key for me. I found that Everyday Dose’s mushroom coffee tasted very similar to a light roast coffee, whereas MUD/WTR had more of a chai flavor. Once you add the milk to Everyday Dose, it’s literally a latte from a coffee shop, and I’m really loving it.

The best part? Gone are the headaches, dehydration, and afternoon crashes – Everyday Dose is packed with functional mushrooms, nootropics, and collagen for energy, focus, gut health, and immune support (all while having 80% less caffeine than traditional coffee). While it takes a dose or two to get used to the taste if you’re a hardcore dark-roast coffee drinker, I think Everyday Dose will resonate with java fanatics more than MUD/WTR will.

If ease-of-use is a must… Everyday Dose

While Everyday Dose and MUD/WTR come in powdered form and work well either cold or hot, there’s definitely a difference in texture. When using a high-speed handheld whisk, Everyday Dose gets quite frothy and stays blended all the time. It dissolves completely almost instantly and cuts down my coffee routine time by more than half, and I love that the texture is smooth and not gritty.

With MUD/WTR, I noticed sediment at the bottom of the cup that turned me off drinking it.

If you don't like the taste of coffee… MUD/WTR

One crucial factor in finding a new routine is that it should bring me pleasure and enjoyment so I can stick to it. I really like the taste of MUD’s chai tea. MUD\WTR uses an organic, black tea mixed with spices to make a delicious chai flavor, but it just doesn’t replace my love and desire for coffee.

On the other hand, I learned that Everyday Dose uses organic, fair-trade coffee that goes through a cold extraction that is herbicide-free and pesticide-free. Now, if you are like me, then at first glance you might say, “the whole point of this is to stop drinking coffee.” Wrong. Everyday Dose is not blowing out your adrenal system with a lot of coffee because it’s about 80% less caffeine than a normal coffee, which is on par with MUD\WTR. Also because of the cold extraction process, it doesn’t cause gut issues that normal coffee causes overtime.

While MUD\WTR says “F*ck your coffee,” Everyday Dose embraces upgrades it by making it healthier and loading it with supplements. That’s why I choose Everyday Dose over MUD\WTR for flavor.

If quality matters… Everyday Dose

In comparing the ingredients, I found out that MUD/WTR uses myceliated oats. Everyday Dose uses only 100% fruiting body mushrooms, which are more potent than myceliated grain. If the quality of the mushrooms is important to you, Everyday Dose is the clear winner here. More, Everyday Dose ingredient highlights include collagen and Chaga for gut health, bone strength, immune support, and skin health, plus L-Theanine for reducing stress and anxiety.

Double extraction is the name of the game over at Everyday Dose, too, whereas MUD/WTR doesn’t have a mushroom extraction process. Everyday Dose also lab tests all their mushrooms, which MUD/WTR doesn’t mention doing. So, If you’re looking for a drink that tastes like chai and uses myceliated oats, you might like MUD/WTR. But if you’re looking for a drink that tastes just like coffee and uses 100% fruiting body mushrooms, Everyday Dose is for you.

If you’re vegan… MUD/WTR

While Everyday Dose is gluten and dairy-free, it isn’t vegan since it has collagen. For vegans, MUD/WTR might be a better option. MUD/WTR is kosher, non-GMO, and 100% vegan.

If you want more than coffee… Everyday Dose

Matcha is fantastic, but it still has tons of caffeine and causes energy crashes. I was thrilled to find Everyday Dose makes mushroom matcha with 80% less caffeine than a cup of coffee and the same flavor we know and love. This high-quality matcha blend is also infused with functional mushrooms, collagen, and L-Theanine to improve sleep quality, restore gut health, and much more. Win, win, win.

The ultimate winner: Everyday Dose

Everyday Dose is the best alternative for someone who loves coffee, but doesn’t want any of the negative side effects like anxiety, stomach problems, acid reflux, and more. It’s just a little more than a dollar per cup, and you can kiss those long coffee shop lines goodbye. Take it from a former coffee addict – Everyday Dose is a must-have!
