With how time-consuming shopping in person is, and with how disappointing online shopping can be nowadays, I’ve mostly stuck to my tried and true styles—even when I know they’re a little oudated.
When I started to hear rave reviews about Wantable, an online styling service that delivers expertly curated options to your door every month, it seemed too good to be true. Could they really update my closet with new options that I could wear with confidence?
Despite being the victim of overhyped brands in the past, I decided to give them a chance. Here are my honest thoughts:
It’s super easy to set up
Setting up an account on Wantable’s website was surprisingly easy. Their quick (but thorough) style quiz helped give their stylists information about my sizes and preferences (I favored wide-leg jeans over skinny jeans, for example). After you finish the style quiz, your personal stylist gets to work on your first curated box (which Wantable refers to as an “Edit”).
Each box includes 7 items that are selected by your stylist based on your price point, style preferences, and the kind of Edit you select. Wantable has 4 main edits to pick from: Style, Active, Sleep & Body, and Men's as well as several limited time and seasonal edits that give you even more options to choose from.
Not bad as far as variety and personalization are concerned!
The Items my stylist picked looked great
Each box from Wantable is curated by a real human—and it shows! I thought it would be a challenge for my stylist to find options that would flatter my petite frame, especially because I’m picky and tend to dress on the modest side. I’m glad to say that Wantable quickly assuaged my fears.
My first box was filled with really fun pieces that were different from my typical style but definitely felt like things I would wear. It was nice to try everything on in the comfort of my own home with zero sales pressure.
One of the best parts was being able to put together different outfits with my whole closet at my disposal instead of being stuck in a tiny, poorly lit dressing room with only the shoes I wore in.
I was also impressed by the quality of the clothes themselves. Because Wantable stocks premium brands like Joe’s, Lucky Brand, and Skies Are Blue, I knew I was getting the good stuff.
The versatility of the clothes also left me feeling great: in my first box alone, I ended up with pieces I could easily wear to a festival, out during a day of shopping, to a lunch date, dinner or even at the office.
The convenience is a total gamechanger
Even though the signup process was easy and the clothes looked great, the thing that really got me hooked was the convenience. Wantable gave me 5 days to try everything on and decide what I wanted to keep.
I even reached out to their 7-day customer service line (which is always staffed by real people) and extended so I could show my daughter one of the outfits and get her opinion.
Wantable also offers discounted pricing if you keep at least 5 items from your box, which means the savings add up! Shipping, returns, and exchanges are always free and your box includes a convenient prepaid label which makes the return process hassle-free.
Based on what I keep and return, my stylist gets to know my preferences better with every box, so I’m looking forward to expanding my wardrobe with Wantable from month to month.
The price is more than worth it
All the compliments I’ve gotten from friends and family on my new clothes have made my confidence soar. I can't wait for my next box to arrive. The whole process made me feel like a queen with my own personal shopper!
Better yet, the styling fee is only $20 and automatically goes towards any item I decide to keep—and shipping and returns are always free. That struck me as a small price to pay for the convenience and expertise Wantable delivers—especially considering the astronomical cost of a personal stylist!
My Verdict
While I was wary at first, I’m delighted to say my doubts about Wantable were misplaced. I have a better selection of clothes than I’ve had in years and friends can’t stop asking me where I’m doing my shopping.
