One thing about me: I love BTS. More specifically, I love Jungkook (and Jimin, I’m a double bias). Ever since the band decided to take a break from group activities until the end of their mandatory military service, I will stop everything for a Jungkook livestream.
Recently, I was watching one of his livestreams and noticed something unusual on his kitchen counter. ARMY sleuths, People magazine and the Hollywood Reporter were quick to discover what it was: a Reencle, which is a composting machine for home gardeners.
Now, I’m an adult woman with an adult child. I don’t buy things just because celebrities have them, but after getting my own Reencle, the more I realized Jungkook is as smart as I always thought he was. Here’s why:
The Reencle has no odor 🌸
Jungkookie has a VERY sensitive nose and doesn’t like strong smells–and neither do I. I don’t need funky smells related to rotting food sitting in my kitchen everyday. But the Reencle composter doesn’t release odors while composting, which is a big departure from how I’ve always viewed traditional composters.
That’s because, unlike a lot of composters, the Reencle uses its own “powder” (it contains microbes) to break down food waste instead of merely dehydrating it.
The Reencle is eco-friendly 🌿
If you know Jungkook, you know he likes food. He makes little noises when he eats something really good, tours restaurants during his downtime, eats during his livestreams, and has even cooked different dishes while we’re watching, just because he got hungry.
I love food as much as Jungkook does (ok that’s not true, no one does), but I’d started getting a little self-conscious about the amount of waste I was generating on a day to day basis–especially with all the fruit rinds, peels and leftovers I left in the fridge a bit too long. I was already considered a composter, so when I saw Jungkook’s Reencle, it felt like serendipity.
Something cool I learned about Reencle is their own ReencleMicrobe™, which can survive in extreme environments (aka high acidity, salinity, and temperatures). It works similarly to how the tiny microbes in your stomach digest your food!
And the Reencle’s stats are good: it doesn’t use much energy, can compost up to two full pounds of food waste every day, and returns about 90% of that to nature. I use the compost as fertilizer for the flowers in my front yard. The eco-friendliness doesn’t end in my kitchen, either: Reencle also plants a tree for every composter sold!
The Reencle is quiet 🤫
There are a lot of appliances that hum or make noise, and that was one of my biggest concerns about getting a composter–I didn’t want yet another thing buzzing in the background. Initially I thought I’d not heard Jungkook’s Reencle composter because his phone just wasn’t picking up the noise, but great news–it’s been super quiet in my own house.
Reencle says composter noise is somewhere between the sound of falling leaves and a library. While I don’t have a tool to measure sound, I always forget it’s on and don’t think about the sound at all–to the point where I forget to change out the filters. Luckily the filters last long, too (the longest in the industry, in fact)!
I’m not a millionaire like Jungkook, so I was a little afraid to seek out the price for the Reencle. It costs $499 and has free shipping, which is pretty fair–especially considering there’s a 30 day return period.
I knew Jungkook wouldn’t let me down—my Reencle is the best 🤩
I already knew Jungkook had good taste; but after using my own Reencle composter, I love him just a bit more. I feel better about not clearing my plate at every meal since I know my scraps will be quietly transformed into something positive, and I blush a little bit when I use my composter. Thank you, JK!
