Better Not Younger Scalp Serum vs. Virtue Flourish Density Booster: Which Product Boosts My Thinning Hair?

Over the last few years, my hair has undergone some major changes: it’s now noticeably drier, it’s shedding faster, and my scalp is more sensitive–all of which are a result of aging and menopause. Two of the most popular products to combat these adverse effects are Better Not Younger’s Superpower+ Advanced Hair Densifying Scalp Serum and Virtue’s Flourish Density Booster. Here are my thoughts on how these two products compare.

For an easy-to-use product… Better Not Younger

Both products aim to curb hair loss, but if you’re looking for a product that is quick and easy to use, the applicator for Better Not Younger’s SuperPower ™+ Advanced Hair Densifying Scalp Serum was more user-friendly than Virtue’s product. I simply applied the BNY serum directly to my scalp and it absorbed quickly.

On the other hand, Virtue’s Flourish Density Booster is a spray bottle, which meant the formula ended up more on my hair than directly on my scalp. I don’t feel as though Virtue’s product absorbs as well due to the spray application, so Better Not Younger’s dropper is a winner for me here.

For sensitive scalps… Better Not Younger

When trying new products, it’s important to test a small area first. This is especially important with Virtue’s Flourish Density Booster, because there’s a warning that you may experience tingling! I found that Virtue left an unpleasant tingle behind, whereas Better Not Younger’s serum was incredibly moisturizing.

For money-conscious buyers…Virtue

I’m watching my budget right now, so the price difference between Better Not Younger and Virtue definitely stuck out to me. However, I think Better Not Younger’s serum is a better value, and here’s why: the serum was thicker and easier to apply (especially in the back of my head), so no product was wasted. I also love that you can choose to subscribe to the Better Not Younger products on their site and receive a considerable discount.

Conversely, I had difficulty applying Virtue’s booster to the back of my head because of the spray nozzle. However, the price point is better, which I’m a big fan of.

For fragrance-free product fans… Better Not Younger

I’m very sensitive to scents, so Better Not Younger’s aroma-free formulation is a major plus for me. Better Not Younger’s serum contains an ultra-powerful blend of derived rosemary extract and apple cider vinegar–these two things normally have strong scents, but not here!

On the other hand, Virtue’s Flourish Density Booster has notes of aromatic herbs, citrus, flowers, and patchouli essential oil, which is a bit too fragrant for my liking. If you don’t mind strong fragrances, you may enjoy Virtue’s product.

My Verdict

In the end, I found the Better Not Younger SuperPower+ Advanced Hair Densifying Scalp Serum was the clear winner over the Virtue Flourish Density Booster. While both products are beneficial for menopause-related hair loss, I’ll be using Better Not Younger’s serum going forward for thicker, denser, and stronger hair.
